This was our first visit to the Olive Tree, it will definitely not be our last. Superb food, excellent service and great atmosphere. 5/5 all round.

Sadly we did not have a good experience at this restaurant. The waiter (young with nose ring) was rude just after we sat down as we asked if we could order a bottle of champagne (expensive) and he said ‘you’ll have to wait sad I am serving someone else’ - he could have said ‘ certainly, I am just getting something for this table but will be back immediately.’ Basically could be more courteous. He came to take our order and did not show us the specials board. When I ordered the salmon and beetroot starter he said ‘menu or special’ I said I didn’t know there were any specials. He reluctantly went off to get it and myself and another guest ordered the salmon roulade on the specials board. We were given the menu salmon dish by mistake and when we asked if we could have the dish we ordered he said ‘this is the chef’s take on it’! Totally unacceptable. The tuna / wasabi starter was apparently awful with just a lump of wasabi under the salad and the tuna portion was very very small. My steak was like a rubber sole and too chewy and apparently the mussels were ‘ok’. I didn’t complain until paying the £275 bill for four people (no dessert or coffees) and the terrible waiter just shrugged and didn’t apologise. This waiter was so rude and discourteous he should be sacked. He didn’t even say thank you after paying the bill. We will not be coming back.

Excellent lunchtime meal

As a retirement gift the boss asked me to book a restaurant of my choice. Living in Wells I would say that I wasn’t spoiled for choice. Having been in the Olive Tree before I was fairly sure of the quality. There were six of us, and everyone really enjoyed the food and the quality of service. I have no problem recommending the restaurant, as I’ve never had cause for complaint.

I had lunch here with my friends to celebrate a birthday. Absolutely loved it. Great location, delicious food and great atmosphere. Beautiful decor and reasonably priced - what more can I say, we were all suitably impressed and will definitely be back again

As always perfect in every way! Service and welcome always first class and the food is classic French cuisine at its best, the sauces in particular are first class. You get what you pay for in life!

Another excellent meal

We have eaten at this lovely relaxed friendly restaurant on several occasions and each time we have been made to feel very welcome by Adam and Martine The open kitchen is professional and remarkably quiet and the food excellent and well presented. Service is prompt and efficient. I would have no hesitation in recommending Goodfellow’s …it is a real gem.

Another excellent dinner at 7B . Food was delicious, as always , the crab and salmon starter superb .Staff very attentive without being intrusive. We cannot recommend this enough ,we will be back ! Thank you Martine & Adam for a great evening.

One of the best restaurant meals I have eaten in a long time. Superb ingredients beautifully cooked and seasoned. I am not vegetarian but I eat little meat and it was a delight to have a fabulous choice of non meat dishes in addition to chicken and fish. The house red wine was absolutely delicious and the ambiance and service were second to none. I am really looking forward to going back and also hopefully being able to sit outside at the back which looks lovely. Thank you Petra for a thoroughly delightful evening.

We had a lovely time at The Olive Tree. The Restaurant is decorated very well and it's got a great atmosphere. The food was delicious, especially the seabass very well match with the risotto and beetroot.

Goodfellows continues to be the best restaurant in Wells. Consistently excellent every time we visit.
