Cross Oak, The – BlackwoodExcellent food, fresh, local and tasty. Would highly recommend this restaurant.
Hall Inn, The – Monmouththis is the first time i had a good Italian meal in Cardiff. service is too good to be true. highly recommended
Casanova Italian Restaurant – CardiffExcellent Indian cuisine, very large portion sizes and excellent service. Drop in and give it a try.
Pengam Indian Cuisine – BlackwoodWe went back two nights in a row to get wonderful Balti food that is not available in our area in the U.S. We would have gone back yet another time, but they were closed.
Anarkali Tandoori Restaurant – SwanseaNow while we get the same old fayre in these restaurants we rarely get service of a higher degree but I am glad to say that here we do. Whilst the standard of this restaurant when it first opened was lacking in the personal touch I think that someone must have joined the management with a heart and listened to what people have complained about. If I wrote this when it opened it would have been a different story but now you can expect good service in a good atmosphere. The management now deal with problems in a fast and efficient way as someone when I was there complained that they had to wait too long. Even though they were full to capacity they were still friendly to the customer and did their best to help. The food was standard Brewers Fayre quality and is OK but the service made up for it. The children? Play Factory was good to keep the kids entertained while the adults had a chat.
Tirfounder Fields Brewers Fayre – AberdareNow we should expect for a Hotel to pay a higher price for a better meal and this was the case here. The meal was to be honest very good and the surroundings were lovely and warm. There does unfortunately be a down side and that was that the staff were not as welcoming as the surroundings. We felt that even though the place was only half full we felt that we was given only poor service. A tip which is normally about 10% and with in mind the cost of the meal was quite high was only 5% at the end due to this service. Food great, surroundings Great but needs more work on the service.
Nant Ddu Lodge Hotel – Merthyr TydfilNow we should expect for a Hotel to pay a higher price for a better meal and this was the case here. Nant Ddu Lodge Hotel – Merthyr TydfilNow we come across many Indian restaurants in Wales and some are large chains and some smaller family type restaurants this one falls into the latter. Whilst it is not a large establishment it must rank in the most welcoming and best food available in Cardiff. The food was presented in a classic Indian way and well garnished and the selection of foods were excellent. I as usual asked for something not on the menu to see if they are flexible and this was ordered and arrived better than I expected. Quality service cost not much more but means a lot to customers and I for one was most impressed. If you want a quiet night out in nice welcoming surroundings then this is the place. My only down point was that when I dine in an Indian Restaurant I like to have the cultures music playing quietly in the background but this was missing and only popular music was being played. Many thanks for a great night out.
Spice Island – CardiffGadlys Arms is advertised as a Fish Restaurant, I'd say its more of a traditional pub with a fresh fish board who also have a grill menu with some outstanding steaks - including the Americano a 14oz sirloin topped with chill sauce, bacon and cheese and finished with two friend eggs! The guys in my party couldnt finish their plates which certainly isnt the norm! There is a bar menu available two which had general pub grub on it. All sauces and pates are homemade too. The hostess was friendly and helpful the decor could have done with a little updating but for a pub/restaurant in a small corner of Aberdare it was excellent!!
Cadlys Arms – AberdareLovely ambience, comfy oriental cushions and lighting. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Lunchtime menu extensive and very good value for money. The vegetarian dim sum and rosebud tea were a delight! My only qualm was that I found a hair in my food, but when I told the staff they couldn't have been more apologetic and gave us a FULL refund on everything! Their treatment towards us having made a minor complaint was such that I shall definitely be returning soon!
Ba Orient – CardiffGreat little place which I've been going to for years. Lovely helpful staff, and delicious Mediterranean / Lebanese food. Very good value for money - a little gem of a place!
Mina Restaurant and Cafe Bar – CardiffJust your average quality Brewers Fayre type food. It's the location which makes this place (right on the beach) however the quietness and ambiance is often wrecked by the hoards of screaming children! Great place for families though needless to say, and for a swift pint outside on a summer's evening for the adults!
Captains Wife Brewers Fayre – PenarthFood here is usually ok, however sometimes they have a tendency to burn it! It's in a lovely situation literally jutting out into the water of Cardiff Bay, however don't sit outside in the summer unless you want to be eaten alive by the mozzies! Service is usually good, however there is always a feeling of being rushed in and out, as they operate two sittings so it's hard to relax and enjoy your meal when you know you only have limited time. Price is moderate, however they do cheaper lunchtime menus which are good value for money.
Bosphorus Turkish Restaurant – CardiffGreat Chinese restaurant. We went as part of a large party and they catered for us well. Food's always good. Will definitely return!
Happy Gathering – CardiffLovely pub on the banks of the river we new owners in November great home cooked food at sensible prices live music tues & thurs
Boat Inn, The – MonmouthIt's no secret that it is difficult to get a decent steak in Neath and I for one would rather eat at home than at a chain pub/restaurant. I have now been a regular customer at remo's for the past 3 years and can tell you with out a doubt they have the best cuts of beef in the area always cooked to perfection and this is just one of the things this delightful restaurant has to offer. Remo? has a large varied menu including prime cuts of beef lamb pork duck veal chicken & turkey assorted fresh fish salmon cod Dover sole sea bass and hake all at a reasonable price. Romantic lighting, great décor, wooden flooring, large pillars and patriotic paintings & pictures. There is also a hatch where you can see the chef hard at work.
Remos Wine Bar – NeathWe visit the Dyffryn Arms regularly because the food is excellent and the staff extremely friendly & helpful. It has a nice open fire in the winter and a playground/beer garden for the summer. Decor is up to date but in keeping with the age of the building. It also has excellent facilities for my mother who is in a wheelchair. Would recommend.
Dyffryn Arms – NeathAfternoon Tea: For parties of 8 of more a special discounted price of £23 per person.
Two meals for £15. Available Wednesday to Friday 12pm-6pm.
