Pettigrew Tea Rooms – CardiffWe had a lovely meal on Sunday. Food very good and good service as well. Will definitely visit again.
The Inn At Rhiwderin – NewportTook my wife for afternoon tea to celebrate her birthday. An altogether pleasant occasion. I would like to make two comments please bring the sandwich before the tea pot the tea gets cold waiting for the sandwich to arrive and only in my case more cream so that I can eat the scone the Devonshire way cream on first topped with a small amount of jam.
Pettigrew Tea Rooms – CardiffBooked the Rhiwderin for husbands birthday on a Saturday evening for 7:30. Recieved what I assumed was a courtesy call around 5:30 asking if we were still intending to arrive - I explained that was our intention but as the motorway was shut we weren't sure how to get there. We arrived approximately 10 mins late through no fault of our own. The restaurant part was completely empty, no other diners were present- there was however a few vocal locals in the bar. The server then told us there was a couple of dishes not available. We ordered but my Husband settled on something he didn't want as what he wanted wasn't available. I ordered a starter, this arrived but my 10 year old daughters mains was brought at exactly the same time. Just after our mains arrived, I looked up and the one server had her coat on and was leaving, then the other server packed her handbag and also left telling us on her way out that if we wanted anything more, there was someone in the bar. It was obvious that the call I'd received earlier in the afternoon wasn't a courtesy call but the staff was hoping we were cancelling so the kitchen could be closed. With regards to the food - I enjoyed what I ordered, my husband on the other hand did not - not because there was anything wrong with it per say but because he didn't want it - as the both dishes he chose from the menu online weren't available. Its a shame we weren't informed of this when we called earlier in the afternoon. There was what can only be described as a complete lack of atmosphere, with no other tables booked in the restaurant on a Saturday evening and servers leaving, we had the impression we weren't wanted there and as soon as the vocal locals left - it was just us 3 and a young lad behind the bar in the other room - my husband complained to the barman, who rang the manager. As there was no manager on site the complaint was dealt with over the phone. The pub itself is a lovely place and my food was nice, the staff were polite but all in all it was a very odd experience and it seemed like a local pub for local people. We wouldn't recommend and we would never return.
The Inn At Rhiwderin – NewportDelicious food and very friendly service from wonderfully attentive staff. Our food arrived promptly despite the restaurant being busy and was cooked to perfection. Will definitely visit again when holidaying in Saundersfoot.

The Inn At Rhiwderin – NewportAbsolutely gorgeous food. The cook dinner was honestly one of the best I’ve ever had. The service was amazing, we had a few servers who were all so polite. We took our two pugs and they even had treats. We can’t wait to return.
