Food was amazing - proper Italian taste. Could do with having candles, Italian music to create more of an Italian ambience. Will be back again!

La Mezzaluna – CarlisleHaving read an appalling review of this restaurant on another web site, I went in some trepidation. However, the service was prompt, helpful and the food good - similar to that of the handful of good pubs in Cumbria. My only criticism was the pool of excess oil on the food (a common problem - when will chefs learn that this isn? necessary to the flavour) and the coffee was the usual poisonous and undrinkable English brew. I will certainly go back to this place.
Adriano Ristorante – CarlisleNice food, nice location - just out of the way.
Ristorante Michelangelo – CarlisleWow! we found this place by accident, it is an English cafe/bistro, we tried the day menu on it you will find a selection of food i recommend the steak and ale pie ( If You can get one ) i have never seen such big chunks of steak! The Big Breakfast is the best in town. The sticky toffee pudding i can still taste now it was fantastic. They are open on an evening too so we tried it then as well and we were not disappointed the menu was a la carte and worth every penny, the wine list was quite reasonable too. EVERYONE MUST TRY THIS PLACE ! CARLISLE HAS A NEW BISTRO GO TRY IT!
The Dining Room – CarlisleThis place is one of the best curry houses in Cumbria. It is friendly, the service and food are both good. Try the Chicken Pathia, it's tasty!
Viceroy – CarlisleOne of Cumbria's best kept secrets. The food here is great and the atmosphere is good. Due to it's location (near all the busy bars and clubs), not one for young kids later on during the weekends I'd say. Staff are friendly and helpful. The Bollywood Special is great!
Shaha – Carlislea very nice and modern pub with terrific bar staff to make you feel warm and welcome.
The Thin White Duke – CarlisleAfter being turned away on a busy, wet Friday night I was delighted when the manager called my husband and I back from the darkness of Rickersgate to say a table had just come free. We settled into the buzz at the end of "happy hour" and as the theatre- goers peeled away a sophisticated atmosphere enhanced by a excellent pianist and some fabulous food was revealed. The highlight of the meal for me were some exquisite prawns (better than any I have tasted here or overseas) and the tender pheasant morsels which I stole from my husband's plate. Three courses, plus coffee and a lovely bottle of well chilled pinot grigio came in at £61 and was well spent. I'd advise booking but I really was bowled over by the ambiance, cuisine, and service.
Adriano Ristorante – CarlisleGiannis is a great restaurant. You are made to feel at home and the food is lovely and inexpensive.
Giannis Pizzeria – CarlisleExcellent choice, even for a vegetarian. Dishes from the chef's recommendations are as good as you would expect (as are the rest!). Garlic chilli chicken massala is spot on.
Bari – CarlisleWelcomed with smiling faces into beautifully painted restaurant. The food was exquisite and perfectly cooked, accompanied with homemade bread only a true Italian can cook. By far the best value for money Italian restaurant in the North. Well done everybody. Dax.
La Mezzaluna – CarlisleThe restaurant was a joy to enter it looked as though you were in Italy the decor was outstanding as was the food. And a very friendly service from all the staff that made you feel at home.
Ristorante Michelangelo – CarlisleA super 'Italian'. The food is fantastic, the staff both friendly and helpful [without being overbearing], you are never rushed, lovely setting with separate 'rooms'. Highly recommended !!
La Pergola – CarlisleWhat a fantastic restaurant... I have been on numerous occasions and have recommended it to many people. The staff are very friendly and go out of their way to accommodate your needs. The owner also works at the restaurant and it is a pleasure to see him as busy as the other staff as well as a pleasure to talk to. Very highly recommended and somewhere I will definitely go again and again.
Adriano Ristorante – CarlisleThe restaurant in decorated to a very high standard, the food is of the highest quality, and all the staff are really friendly. There is a separate lounge to have a quiet drink after or before your meal. Its just like being in Italy, well worth a visit, ill be back!
