The Talbot – CheltenhamWe dined here Saturday evening & what a lovely treat it was! The food was divine and service 2nd to none. Thank you The Talbot
The Talbot – CheltenhamInspite of all the restrictions imposed on pubs they still managed to provide an enjoyable experience for an evening meal for my daughter and myself .The food was of a good quality and the service was exceptional.
The Talbot – CheltenhamAs soon as we arrived we were welcomed, asked if we’d booked (we had) & then asked to use the hand sanitiser before being shown to our table. There were three of us so we had a table for four, in the corner by the window & well spaced away from any other tables. Although it feels a little strange & sparse, we felt very safe & the staff were excellent. The food was very fresh & enjoyable as it always has been. Currently the days when you could just walk in & get a table are a long way off I think, we saw numerous people turned away because tables were either pre-booked or there wasn’t a free table for them. Booking is highly recommended, especially as it’s in a very popular Cotswold town.
The Talbot – CheltenhamWe ate here during a weekend trip to Stow on the Wold recently. The staff were very nice and attentive however the food was really poor. I have no problem paying for a more expensive meal but I do expect at the prices that are being charged to be able to say it was a good meal. The lasagna was dry and stuck to the bowl and my husbands burger was dry and tasteless, for £50 including a drink each it was not a cheap meal. Very disappointed.
The Talbot – CheltenhamThe waitress was kind and helpful and the social distancing measures were good. There was a choice of bitters and it was great to be able to test these before ordering. However, we were disappointed with the food. We had 8 main meals and they were all overcooked and felt as if many had been microwaved, rather than being freshly prepared. The fruit crumble had no fruit in it, just a floury top. The food was overpriced for the poor quality. The pub is in a pretty setting though.
The Talbot – CheltenhamWe thought the staff at the Talbot did a great job. We had of course pre-booked and this was our first evening out in months. We all felt very safe and looked after. Their system was thorough, no-hassle and reassuring. Our waitress was lovely and kept a reasonable distance in her mask. We had one-use menus which seemed a good idea. Our food was very good indeed and seemed very good value for the price. There were very few people there (obviously this was deliberate to keep diners distant - I’m sure they had to turn lots away) and we saw another table thoroughly cleaned once it’s occupants had gone. It’s funny to write a review which doesn’t really concentrate on the food but, in many ways, that wasn’t really what we were most focussed on. However we were glad we’d chosen The Talbot for lots of reasons and I’d like to congratulate the staff on providing us with a relaxed and enjoyable evening for a special reunion. Highly recommended.
The Talbot – Cheltenham4 of us met up at Stow on the Wold in the Talbot. We had a lovely meal. We all had something different and everyone was happy.
The Talbot – CheltenhamThe guys at The Talbot were very welcoming. We had a great meal, along with some fantastic cask ales. Highly recommended!
The Talbot – CheltenhamLovely pub in a really lovely village. roaring fire with great ales and food!
The Talbot – CheltenhamEnjoyed a lovely lunch after a wander around this beautiful village in the Cotswolds. The Pate was very tasty.
Swan Inn – CheltenhamYou need to put your menu in a more accessible place on the internet I can not find it :(
The Pearl of Northway – CheltenhamFantastic food and fantastic people.
Mamma’s Kitchen – CheltenhamFriday lunchtime and we had walked into Jamie’s Italian next door which was utterly deserted. Copa, in contrast, was buzzing. You could tell it used to be a traditional sort of pub but they have rebranded and the place was almost full. Good sound system playing an eclectic mix of tunes, racing on TV (this is Cheltenham, after all) and an interesting menu and wine list. Lots of people of all ages dining too. I would imagine at night this place gets quite lively.
Copa Of Cheltenham – Cheltenhamgreat food, lovely welcoming atmosphere, great value for money.
Old Farmers Arms – CheltenhamChange of management - Use to use for evening meals, lunches, and takeaways. Since change of management and some staff a couple of years ago has gone completely downhill. Food generally poor: tasteless, under seasoned, unimaginative. Have given up using completely.
Golden Mountain – CheltenhamExcellent, from the complimentary soup to the cheese and biscuits. What a choice of flavours. I'd recommend to everyone.
Wyck Hill House Hotel – CheltenhamWe recently visited India Lodge and were met by friendly staff and a pleasant ambience. The chicken tikka ordered . was a main was very under seasoned and extremely dry .I did address this whilst my guest ordered a rogan josh. The rogan josh had lamb underneath with the tomato and onion sauce on top. This again was unseasoned without excellent Indian flavours and unfortunately tasted more like Dormio..I came to the conclusion that although the restaurant is nice the let down was in our main courses. It even crossed my mind the the customers may prefer or not actually know what a true Indian tastes like.I will say the rice was lovely and so too was the nan bread. Will I return...unfortunately not and it`s on my doorstep.
India Lounge – Cheltenham2 courses, £21; 3 courses, £25. Available lunch Monday- Saturday and 5pm-6.15pm Friday and Saturday.
