I would recommend Cafe Salar to anyone liking good food and a great evening out. My first visit was on Monday, attending to see Joe Longthorne perform... Lymm village itself is quite impressive and the restaurant was very easy to find along with a parking space along the road. First impressions on walking through the front door were of class and warmth, reminded me of being on the Algarve with the decor and ambiance. Excellent service from all the staff and excellent food, I am not a food connoisseur but I would rate the fillet steak as being extremely tasty and cooked to perfection along with all four courses. The manager and staff ensured that everyone was served and serviced to their requirements and, in a nutshell, I would happily give them 5 stars in a good food guide. The evening was perfect, Joe Longthorne performed to his customary genius and class to a very satisfied and appreciative audience. I go to see Joe sing quite often and can easily rate his performance at cafe Salar as sheer perfection, he left the restaurant with everyone well satisfied. I look forward to his return to the restaurant in may but will make a point of popping into Cafe Salar for a lunch time meal if i am passing on the m6 as it is ideally located just a few moments from the m56/m6 junction. The menu is very well priced and offers excellent value for money, thank you cafe Salar for a first class evening on mon 28th feb.

simply fantastic

Went to Vattika for a birthday meal with the family, there was 10 of us and we arrived without booking a table. The service was brilliant, really polite and friendly. Some went for the £9.95 five course early bird menu which was such good value for money, the quality and amount of delicious well prepared food was fantastic. Others chose the Indian tapas which was lovely and I'm going to get that on my next visit. Everything was lovely and i can easily say it is the nicest Indian meal I've had, far better value than Desi (the other Indian in Widnes). Great value for money, gorgeous food, drinks are reasonably priced, great atmosphere, you really will enjoy xxx

Visited on a Sunday evening for a bite to eat, fancied a nice quiet country pub with decent quality home cooked food - and that's exactly what we found! With added bonus of lovely warm and attentive staff with a friendly (yet unobtrusive) approach to customer service. A genuine care and desire to please customers was felt. We both had roast dinner and desserts which were very enjoyable. Drinks prices aren't unreasonable but a bit higher than other places in the area, so we would be more inclined to visit just for food than a few drinks (well until the summer months at least, where the location may justify a few pence more!) Would definitely visit again - Hope others do to, as a few more customers would indeed add to the ambience!

frequent this pub regularly to eat and drink, real ale and extensive wine list ,very large portions which i never finish ,they have fresh fish and daily specials only drawback is trying to get a table ,best to book, lovely old fashion pub not like those awful sizzler etc chains ,would recommend it

Myself and my boyfriend visited this gorgeous restaurant at the end of January (when they had their 50% book on-line sale). We enjoyed a wonderful 2 course meal (we were far too full to savour their deserts). I can thoroughly recommend their chicken livers, they are the best I've tasted for ages. We will be going back that's for sure!!

Take one beautiful listed building in a picturesque Cheshire village, add an experienced and visionary restaurateur, stir through a sprinkling or two of spice and you have the perfect recipe for a successful Indian fine dining destination. Teresa Thomason tries out Prestbury’s newly-opened The Saffron Room. Pulling up outside the charming 18th Century building one dismal Friday night, lights twinkling through leaded windows beckon us invitingly inside. What immediately hits our party of three as we enter The Saffron Room, with its warm colour-scheme of aubergine, chocolate brown and taupe, is just how uplifting, fresh and contemporary the interior is. Belying its quaint exterior, this contrast between the traditional and the new really works here. And it certainly doesn’t stop at the décor. Owner Sanaan Ahamed has taken the same approach with The Saffron Room’s menu, skillfully combining the traditional with modern influences. Dishes you’d expect to find on an Indian menu are here - Biriyanis, Tandooris, Masala, Baltis and Korma – but there are also some very interesting fusion dishes that really do tempt the palate. A genuine fan of the marriage of cultures and tastes that come with this genre of food, this addition of the fusion selection was for me a pleasant and welcome surprise. There’s nothing predictable about the drinks menu either. A collaboration with luxury brand Moet Hennesy’s mixologist has allowed The Saffron Room to offer an enticing selection of cocktails ranging from the classic to the contemporary. And the wine list too has been put together with a forward thinking approach. While there’s a great selection of reds and whites from very affordable through to high-end, we were also happy to see there’s five organic wines available for those already converted to the natural option. Time then to pick our way through the extensive array of food and wine – but with such a mouthwatering selection we really were spoilt for choice. Help was quickly on hand though as the attentive team explained the construction of various dishes and made their suggestions in accordance with our stated preferences. For this evening it was to be for my husband, 12-year-old son Joe and me duck, fish and nothing too hot or rich please. And for wine, though we tend to be red drinkers, after asking for advice we were steered towards a white, which proved to be the perfect accompaniment. While we took in the ambience, noting that the 70-cover restaurant had very quickly filled up with diners, we munched on papadams (with dips) that my husband immediately awarded with the accolade of “Best and Lightest” he’d ever tasted. With a New Year’s resolve to watch what I eat, we’d ordered just two between us. A big mistake, should we order more? A third papadam was not to be however. The starters arrived promptly. My husband had opted for The Saffron Room Barbeque Special – a medley of four different and flavoursome meats. I, being in a seafood mood, had chosen the King Prawn Garlic, while Joe chose the Bengoli Fish opting for the safer Mild option. All of us were very happy with our choices - but having been assured by the waiter that it really was ok to share, we unanimously crowned Joe’s fish dish, generous in portion size and served with an utterly delicious sweet, hot, coriander, herb and green chilli sauce, Star of the Starters. Next - after just the right amount of rest time – came the mains. The rather intriguingly described “Chef’s secret recipe” Tandoori Chicken Jaipur made a very grand entrance at my husband’s place – and wowed us all with an explosion of taste. The Signature Blue Water Duck dish, with a mystery marinade of “very special ingredients” – and not an ounce of fat to be found in the finely sliced duck - was for Joe, while I had opted for the Crème de la Cinnamon Seabass. Never able to resist seabass on any menu I’d overlooked the fact that this dish came with cream, something I’d generally prefer not to have. But I needn’t have worried, my meal was cooked beautifully and the taste was light and fresh. The Saffron Room offers all you expect to see in an Indian restaurant, so finding your favourite dish won’t be hard, but the additional ‘designer’ dishes on the menu mean that for those who like to try new tastes and extend their horizons a little, there’s plenty to tempt them here. It’s a long time since we last ate out an Indian restaurant. If our first experience of the Saffron Room’s anything to go by it won’t be long before we’re there again. Next time we’ll take along a few friends and add a few cocktail specials to the evening. Here’s to our next visit.

I would recommend La Fattoria, my husband & I have had some excellent meals, the staff work very hard to make sure everyone has a good experience and are very friendly we are going back again for my birthday this Saturday.

The food is lovely, the service is discretely efficient and very reasonably priced. So pleased to have this restaurant in the locality

We would definitely recommend Vatikka.The quality of food is great and the staff are very friendly too. We have very quickly developed an affinity to Vatikka as the prices are reasonable and the portions are generous.Tapas is a unique twist and I would urge anyone who likes Indian food to give it a try

Brilliant night out, Ive been loads of times and always stay over, the prices are reasonable and its got a great chilled vibe. Ive recommended this night out to tons of people!

I have visited the Saffron many times and my husband held is 40th birthday there a few years ago, I can honestly say nothing negative about the restaurant. The food is fantastic, the waiters are friendly, lovely decor and loos!! The owners are very welcoming and accommodating. Should you be thinking of a large party for a special occasion they will assist in anyway they can to make the evening extra special. I have no hesitation in recommending the Saffron, you will not be disappointed!!

Just to say "WOW" ate last night and loved it. The food, the decor and service was fantastic.

3 words - amazing, amazing, amazing!! Loads of choice - excellent evening in lovely surroundings, well recommended!

veteran 1 review 12 February 2011 Well, 5 stars - from one person's review ! Times must have changed since then Mandy. Has anybody had a bad experience at Turturici Italian style restaurant in Davenham ? Let's be hearing from you. 11th February 2011 7.15pm visited and informed who appeared to be the owner that my wife and I were first time visitors. No problem there. Showed to table. Wine waiter offered his services and as I was having difficulty reading the menu (low light) he recommended a white wine. He offered it for tasting ( so far so good) but although the wine was 'fruity' it had a high acidic content. For my stomach I knew I could not take it. He gave me an indignant look as if it were wrong of me to say this. He turned away taking the newly opened bottle with him, returned and I was surprised by his attitude. He flew back to us in a semi angry way and dropped the wine list on the table (not given) and told me to pick my own wine and walked away. Oh dear, had I done something wrong ? I suppose I should have taken his recommendation. So sensitive ! What is the wine tasting for ? My wife looked in amazement. Never mind, let's move on. Scouring the menu suddenly a lovely young waitress ( very pleasant) served us with a bottle of water and two glasses. Not being a person who is fond of water and had never ordered we thought it was a mistake. I asked the young lady to return it as we hadn't ordered it. Oh dear, mistake no. 2. Wine waiter returned with a somewhat frustrated attitude and I selected another wine which was quite palatable. Well, it was Friday night and I understood from locals that it was a popular place and we had to try it. The starter and the main course were absolutely excellent - compliments to the Chef ( we think he's the one selling the establishment's reputation). Young pleasant waitress with a smile asked about coffee. We wanted to finish the wine and asked for 5 minutes. She didn't return but we asked the second young pleasant waitress for coffee who came to us. The wine waiter ( we think he may be the wine waiter ) rather speedily swung into action again reminding us in a belligerent and corrective way that we had asked for 4 coffees through two waitresses but rather sharply telling us he had spotted the error and reduced it to two ( oh dear mistake no. 3 regardless of the fact that I thought it was protocol to return to the customer to ask if we were ready for coffee again – ah well - wrists slapped). That put us in our place !! We looked around at the clientele and felt that the majority were local people and that it was albeit very expensive ( why ?) the only single restaurant in Davenham - hence monopoly. Yes, two pubs in the area but this was on its own. Why are their prices so high and that people are willing to pay such prices ? It beggars belief. Hmm monopoly indeed. Well the time came to pay and I was given a load of abuse from the owner who threatened to knock my 60+yrs of age head off and the wine waiter told me that it was a shame that he could only take the evenings money from my credit card and no more !! I was absolutely astonished and left ‘ gob smacked ‘. Who are these people ? Nice to some people and not to others ? Where was the professionalism ? They never found our coats for us and were arrogantly very rude indeed. We left. Having had 5 businesses in my lifetime and attended countless number of restaurants, never have we been received in such a way. It was like they could pick and choose their regular heavily paying punters. The owner had stated that they rule out children from attending the restaurant. Aren't they lucky to have this monopoly in Davenham when other Restaurauters are desperate for business in these times of austerity. We call it absolute arrogance and familiarity. Well, if we have dined incorrectly for the first time in our lives then truly we didn't know it. We have dined in top class restaurants as well as humble ones and never been treated like this. Shame on them. Chef and the two young ladies were absolutely fantastic. Time for them to take over. Anyone for opening another Italian in Davenham ?

Went to Tom on Friday, not great, over priced same stuff as every where else, we booked and then looked at the menu, the whole menu spanned the world, Thai, USA, English, French, Spanis, Italian, seeing such a vast menu should of known better, service OK, food OK had a singer full of cheese, busy, but £100 for 2 I should of paid £20-40 more on gone to somewhere better with a WOW factor, Sorry
