Went down the river earlier today. The Blue Moon had tables outside by the river – in November! It was warm enough to sit out and we had lunch. The ‘boss’ had pork casserole and said it was lovely – I went for ‘freshly battered’ Fish n Chips with mushy peas and it was as advertised ‘the best in town’. Not expensive either even with a bottle of wine.Haven’t been here a while but we’ll be back. Well worth the walk and what a view.

Disapointed Customer !

I often visit this pub every few weeks mainly Sundays with my family for Sunday dinner as we live local. I haven't been there for a few months so i decided to take a visit yesterday with my daughter for Sunday lunch (10/10/11) I ordered 2 roast dinners 1 chicken 1 beef. We waited for 40 mins and it wasn't even busy but we waited patiently when are food did come out the hadn't give no cutlery the girl slopped gravy off the plate all over the table didn't bat an eye and left it i asked her if the menu had changed as there was no cali on the plate or mash in fact the plate looked half empty her reply was there is a new chef still never offered to take the dinners back to put it on and walked off the customer service from the 2 girls on that afternoon was terrible no people skills what so ever! the beef was all dry on one end and cold the roast pots were like bullets. the couple next to use then got there roast and what did they have on the plate everything including mash . Its just under a tenner a dinner so not cheap u pay for the food and service you should get it. Before i left i asked the staff for the manager to make a complaint there was no one to talk to they would have to ring him to come down . So i said i would make my feelings clear on here. Well what a same i used to really love going there for Sunday lunch but think will give it a miss from now on and wouldn't recommend it to no one now. Whether they were having a bad day its no excuse because i didn't even get a sorry !!!!!!!!!!

Worst food ever eaten. Terrible, just terrible place. Went to Chester for a day out with the family, fallowing advice of guy with and advert on the street, decided to eat at this Chinese place, couldn’t be more disappointed, the food was cold, look like if had been reheat several times, very rude staff when tried to complaint about, there was skin chicken on two or tree of the dishes, and to complete the menu a bite of a raw spring roll, that smelled like hell. after been there some of us were so upset about the experience that we decided to leave Chester early. Next day had to book a appointment with the GP, for my daughter, who diagnosed food poison. please don't even think about this place as a option to eat.

Upon our arrival we were indeed treated to a feast for the eyes-fantastic premises, decor and attention to detail in the interior design. Sadly, however, this is where the praise ends- a hen party of approximately 12 persons, we ended up waiting over forty minutes for our starter and then another 50 minutes from starter to main. Waitresses were asked to describe dishes and make recommendations, neither of which they could do. The manager was rude and aggressive actually leaving the hen close to tears. We had advised them that although we were not wanting to make a fuss, so as not to spoil the night for the hen, we were not happy. No amendment to the bill was made or apology offered. Another member of the party had taken medication upon arrival and had not ordered a starter. we advised the waitress of this matter, and again, no offer of apology or solution was made. The food arrived and was, quite frankly disappointing. Over salted, dried butterbeans that appeared to have also been waiting 50 minutes to get to the table accompanied my lacklustre duck. looking around the table the faces, quite accustomed to fine dining, informed me that I was not alone in feeling this way. I would definitely NOT recommend eating here if you are hungry,in a hurry or expect quality service.

Sunday lunch at the Greyhound was a real treat - not the cheapest, but nor was it outrageously expensive and the food was perfection with roasties to die for! Nice people, really attentive and a lovely relaxed atmosphere - best of all a good pint of Timothy Taylors!

Have eaten here on 3 occasions since it opened in June and tried something different on each occasion, the chefs special board takes some beating and the sea bass is certainly my favourite.Going back 3 times says how much we have enjoyed the whole experience. The atmosphere and general layout of the restaurant is excellent along with the politeness and service of the staff. We have recommended to friends and family who have all visited and not been disappointed

Have been using the Greyhound for years and its closure in 2010 was a bitter body blow. However, it has now re-opened and is a wonderful venue for food or drinks. Both myself, my wife and friends have eaten there on quite a few occasions and we have all commented on how good the food is, faultless. The staff are very attentive and polite and nothing seems too much trouble for them. A Tuesday night 'specials' night has been introduced recently, we went to the inaugural 'curry' themed night a couple of weeks ago and it was delicious and different from what we were expecting. We have booked for the 'Italian' themed night soon. All at £12.95 for a three-course dinner - Not bad. The Greyhound is highly recommended - Give it a go.

My wife and I were on holiday in the area and were recommended to come here and I'm so glad we did. We enjoyed some of the most excellent food we've ever eaten in a pub restaurant - a risotto with artichokes to die for and a tender chicken with delicious fresh vegetables. It was so good that we came back a second time. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and nice atmosphere. It's worth going out of your way to this place - it's that good. You really can't go wrong and hopefully will enjoy it as much as we did.

Loved it, loved it, loved it...... Had the XXXL monster burger (with pulled pork) and superb. Came with three members of my family and they all agreed with me. Great atmosphere and the food was stunning. Can really recommend this place to eat as the best in Chester that I have visited. Best wishes John

Went for the express lunch which was amazing and very good value! The tagliatelle with duck was fab! We returned in the evening this month and were disappointed. We were put on an awful table right by the stairs but asked to move and we were so that was ok. The food was average, the starters were poor and rather tasteless. We ordered cheese garlic bread & it came minus the cheese! The main was cold and the veg were so over roasted so the point of being mushy! It was an expensive night at £30 pp plus wine and not worth it. Really disappointed as we loved it the time before. We would possibly return but just for lunch again.

Visited after a day at Chester Zoo thanks to recommendations from this website. What can I say - great beers, & really excellent flood. Wished we lived locally. I had a steak & ale pie, with lovely fresh veg- chantel carrots, leeks, sweet red cabbage & lovely creamy mash, my wife a chicken & ham pie - both were large with a fine pastry top. Our 3 kids were impressed by the mussels & chips - a real creamy wine sauce & big thick chips, obviously double fried - golden on the outside & fluffy inside - these were the best chips I have tried in a long long time. This pub is a real find, i don't normally write a review but this pub is exceptional - real quality food, & well kept beer you won't be disappointed and well worth a diversion.

We’ve been 3 times now in the short time that it re-opened - what an improvement now that it’s under new management. There is a nice, friendly atmosphere, lovely staff (nothing is too much trouble for them) and to top it all off, the food is amazing. We’ve eaten at the weekend, mid week and yesterday went for Sunday lunch. Would recommend to anyone thinking of trying it – you won’t be disappointed.
