The Stamford Bridge Inn – ChesterMum and I have just returned after having a delightful lunch at the bunbury. We had sandwiches, with an excellent glass of white wine, followed by a chocolate fudge cake with pouring cream!!. The atmosphere was homely with a lovely roaring fire. will certainly return, everything was just lovely.
Bunbury Arms – ChesterFirst visit to the Mockingbird Taproom in Chester and had a great night. The menu has lots of interesting choices as well as the sort of Tex-Mex stuff (nachos, burgers) you might expect. I had a spicy gumbo from the main menu and my wife a prawn and chorizo jamabalaya from the specials board. Presentation is quirky and the venue is lively (with some great tunes from the DJ when we visited on Saturday evening). If there’s a group of you the central bench tables look a good bet but if you’re a 4 I would ask for one of the round tables as the oblong ones are a bit of a tight squeeze. Good selection of bottled craft beers and New World wines to complement the food.
Mockingbird Taproom – ChesterFab food, great service, will be going again soon. Thanks.
The Stamford Bridge Inn – ChesterJust booked a table for 10 for Christmas dinner. The food is great I have been going for years and would recommend it to anybody.
Bunbury Arms – ChesterMy husband and I went to Bunbury Arms yesterday evening (have been going to Bunbury Arms on and off for a few years) and we both had 8oz rump steak with chips, onion rings, tomato, 2 small mushrooms and garnish and Peppercorn and Diane sauce where we paid over £32 for just 2 meals. We were both disappointed with meal in respect of garnish not being fresh and sauces were tasteless and watery and also meal seemed a bit lost on plate. We were asked if our meals were ok when we FIRST got meal (as waiting for tomato sauce) so couldn’t really comment and then asked when we finished our meal to which we informed that we were disappointed and it was the worst meal we had ever had in there. The Waitress seemed to be shocked, and we were disappointed nobody came over to discuss our disappointment.
Bunbury Arms – ChesterCalled for meal at 16.40 on 24/03/2015. Service was quick, food excellent as it always is when we eat there.
Harvester Stanney Oaks – ChesterAttended a murder mystery night here (my first ever – I didn’t do it!) which was held on the top floor in a private dining area. It’s a lovely old warehouse-type building hidden away down a lane in the centre of Chester and the restoration appears tip-top, seamlessly blending the old with the new. The ground-floor bar area, which we only glimpsed, appeared to have a great ambience and was beautifully lit. The food was excellent too – I had a spicy prawn starter, chicken with dauphinoise and cheesecake -- although the service was a bit sporadic which I guess reflects the size of the party. Overall though, very impressive and would definitely recommend if you are visiting Chester.
Commonhall Street Social – ChesterBeautiful restaurant lovely food, good atmosphere what more can one say.
Palm Court at the Grosvenor Pulford – ChesterEnjoyed the food the staff where friendly.
The Stamford Bridge Inn – ChesterFood always excellent.
The Stamford Bridge Inn – ChesterHad lunch at the Bunbury this week. Food was superb and extremely good value. Excellent range of well kept beer, good range of wine by the glass. Staff were pleasant and courteous. We ARE going back to enjoy a proper English pub with home made food.
Bunbury Arms – ChesterThis restaurant exploits Thai workers here by work permit. They are made to work 60 hours and paid less than the minimum wage. Dont eat here it stinks of corruption and is currently under investigation for fraud by the Home Office.
Siam Thai and Teppanyaki – ChesterVisited with my family, each of the five of us had a different dish, all of which was of a very high standard. The service was prompt and friendly, this was on a wednesday early evening, as time went on, the inn began to fill with more customers, so I think that speaks volumes. I would recommend this eatery to anyone.
The Stamford Bridge Inn – ChesterBeen a regular at the Lord Bining so really chuffed the New Moon Pub Company has takover Linenhall in Chester, as I now live here. looking forward to seeing what they have up their sleeve. I wonder if they will do a Beef and Pudding that they have in Manchester? That would be great!
Linenhall Bar – ChesterVisited this pub this week and ordered a pint of orange squash, ust under 2 quid-daylight robbery !
Bunbury Arms – ChesterWent to Wolfies un Chester in Mothering Sunday. The food was great, didn't skimp on the portions, staff were attentive and very welcoming. The only thing I would say is it would be nice if tea came in a pot, and that sweetners were an option, as my mother is diabetic and the only option was white sugar. Other than that it was very nice
Wolfie’s – ChesterGreat food and bar man Sean was very attentive and helpful. I don't normally leave tips but he definitely deserved his as I didn't have to get up once!
