Will Be Back

Been there on a number of occasions with different guests. All in all what a wonderful setting next to the Leeds Liverpool Canal. It has a varied and exciting menu that's a lot better than your average with starters to die for and main meals that are just superb. cannot remember the name of the Italian Merlot but this is one of the nicest red wines i have tasted. Well worth the long walk up from Chorley.

Blue Elephant - Chorley This is an indian restaurant situated in a nice location with a good sized car park. The decor inside is modern and there is a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The The staff are smartly dressed and attentive, however, we did feel they were a little too attentive and intrusive at times. There is a wide selection of dishes although given the quality of the food, we did not feel that this represented good value for money. We both had chicken dishes, and although the chicken was very tasty, we were both very disappointed with the sauces. The masala sauce was more reminiscent of a korma but with red colouring, in that, it tasted very sweet and coconuty… I was told that the sauce consisted of a great deal of sugar and half coconut/almond flakes which would explain the very, very sweet and sickly taste. The waiter also told me that if I saw what they had put in the sauce in terms of sugar etc I would not eat the dish… The side order of chips, which I was told would be the best chips around, tasted like they had been re fried and were, as a result very greasy. The mushroom pilau rice tasted like it had also been reheated on at least one occasion. The toilet facilities were adequate and clean. The mints were nice. In summary: Great location Nice Decor Attentive staff Disappointing food - will not return or recommend.

We have eaten here for lunch and evening. Excellent food and as it is a small restaurant the atmosphere is friendly and intimate. |Had a great night with our friends. Lovely lobster - a special - and great cocktails. The staff are lovely too.

Ate here last night, saw the sign 'Guardian Best place to eat' so was eager to get a table booked. When we arrived there was a guitarist on. Great atmosphere and candlelit. Food was amazing, out of this world and staff was so so friendly helping with recommendations. We had a couple of cocktails and really started to get into the music. The Singer was really talented and was told he plays every Thursday so we'll be back again soon. Food 5/5 Service 4/5 Entertainment 5/5 GREAT NIGHT - little worse for wear this morning though :)

I recently passed here and though we would go for a change having usually gone to The High Moor for any special meals out. The lady who runs the place was lovely and the service couldn't be faulted. The food was lovely and beautifully presented. I do wish I hadn't had a starter though as the portions were generous and I couldn't manage a pud! I would recommend this to friends and family alike and would be very happy to go again.

As it's my local pub I can say on behalf of myself and the neighbours what a joy it is to have such a great offering at the Black Horse by its new owners. The mini beer festival is a daily joy and the food just right.

Dined here on Saturday evening, the service was fab and the food was amazing, it really puts every other place in the area to shame. The Red Cat used to be my favorite my opinion has now changed.

I write not to recommend this restaurant. I could not find a starter that I liked and normally I am spoilt for choice. The menu said my main course would be served with a choice of either chips, roast or boiled potatoes and vegetables. I was not given a choice of potatoes and there was hardly any veg. The garlic bread was tasteless. However the main problem was that my husband started with diarrhoea at 3am. the following day which lasted for 8 weeks. He had eaten mussels here and the doctor said it was undoubtedly due to eating at this restaurant.

We have eaten here several times, and always rate it for special occasions. Last night we went to the Indian gourmet night - it was superb, the best indian food we have ever tasted, we enjoyed dishes that we had never heard of before, and joy of joy beautiful Indian desserts all served with Truffles usual attention to detail and attentive pleasant staff, can't wait to try another gourmet night!!

Me and partner had a sensational meal at this restaurant, my partner had booked a table on valentines evening and proposed which was so romantic, what made it especially special was the intimacy of the restaurant and the excellent service. I couldn't fault anything, it was absolutely perfect. Thank you New Seasons for a lovely evening and we will most certainly be seeing you again in the future.

This is the 4th time we have visited Amelies and once again we were delighted. My husband was celebrating his 50th birthday and we were thrilled with the informal, personal and attentive service delivered by the hostess Anamarie. she is a charming lady and makes the whole dining experience wonderful . The food is outstanding in its quality and presentation, worth every penny. The atmosphere is warm, relaxing and cosy, a perfect location .It will continue to be our first choice for a special occasion, without a doubt.

hello. I went to the Blue Elephant in SOUTHPORT for Valentines day. We booked a table for 8pm, so we got there at 755 and we were seated straight away, excellent I though. We were sat near a window however as soon as we were sat the waiter just walked off !! Ok i thought, he must be getting a drinks menu. 20 mins later I had to get up and go to the bar myself !!! We then waited a further 10 mins, we caught a waiters eye who came over and took our order. We wanted some poppadoms first, then starters then our main course.. After about 20 mins we saw the waiter walk over with some poppadoms !! Great we thought, but no, there were for the couple who had just walked in 5 minutes before !!! Ok we thought, ours are on the way... 20 mins later our starters came ( still waiting for the poppadoms !! ) The starters were amazing mind you !!! A waiter came and cleared our empty dishes and we ordered some more drinks... a further 20 mins passed so I decided to go to the bar to chase up our drinks, no order had been placed !!! 10 mins later our main course arrived, which once again was amazing !!!Now I thought when your plates are taken away its time for a coffee or a dessert, maybe not at the Blue Elephant !!! We were left for a further 20 mins just waiting. So we asked for our bill.... 20 mins passed and no bill showed up. Enough was enough, we left our tables and walked to the till area were we asked if we can pay... The bill had our missing poppadoms on it and three rounds off drinks !!! Amazing !!! Naturally we asked for this to be removed, but it seemed the guy wasn't really that bothered. We expressed our dissatisfaction about the service, once again the didn't seem concerned.. We payed our corrected bill and left. Leaving NO TIP !!!!! It really was a shame as the food was amazing, its just a pity we were let down by the service. Ok it was busy being Valentines night, but surely the restaurant should do the basics right !!! Do I recommend it... Well YES, but only as a take away !!!

This is a lovely restaurant, with kind and generous staff and a friendly family atmosphere. The food is delicious and varied with a great choice of starters (including tapas), main courses and home-made desserts to die for! Your table is yours for the night and the cocktails are so good, you won't want to give up your table! It was a little more expensive than your average meal (we paid nearly £50 per head; probably because we had 7-8 cocktails each!), but it feels like you've got a bargain. I would absolutely recommend the New Seasons restaurant... in fact, we just decided to back for our anniversary!

We ate here after recommendation from a good source. All I can say is that it must have been a different restaurant. The food was pricey and it was poor. Bruschetta that was on door stops, tomato and mozzarella salad with grated cheese! The two main courses were also poor, lamb cutlets which were tough as old boots and a flavourless tangine of chicken. We didn't bother staying for dessert. It is such as shame as the location and the decor were great and it was a missed opportunity.

We held our wedding breakfast and evening reception at Truffles on 28th December 2008. It provided for the most romantic afternoon and evening with all our guests enjoying the food (which you can take for granted ! ) and the service. The style of the venue is so romantic and classy that it provides a fantastic backdrop for a special day. In the months leading up to the wedding, James Ford (The owner and chef) worked with us to ensure we got just the day we wanted. We would recommend Truffles to anyone who wants a special, personalised day/night to remember. Thanks James !

I have been dining at the Plough with friends for 9 years now and we are always impressed with the enormous menus, first class food and warm welcome. The guest malt whiskies are an added bonus.
