Boatel Party Cruises – ChorleyI have been dining at the Plough with friends for 9 years now and we are always impressed with the enormous menus, first class food and warm welcome. The guest malt whiskies are an added bonus.
Plough Inn – ChorleyWent here on Friday with a girlie friend. Lovely original decor and ambiance. The food (I had sea bass as a main) was excellent, as was the cocktail I had :) the lady staff were a bit less attentive than I would've liked, hey , never leave a lady with an empty wine glass!! But they were pleasant. The bartender man was very attentive, that may have been more to do with my attractive friend though LOL. I will definitely make a return.
Seasons – Chorleywent Friday night for a birthday party,15 of us,the restaurant was very busy ,but we was very well look after, everyone enjoyed a great night ,would recommend to any1
Alghero – ChorleyI went to the Happy Village on a cold, damp Wednesday evening and loved every minute. The staff are friendly without being in your face all the time and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. My companion was a vegetarian and she was delighted with her meal and also the choice available. I devoured every course and forced down a dessert even though I was pretty full. A fantastic meal and thoroughly recommended restaurant.
Happy Village – ChorleyI HAD GONE THERE FOR A MEAEL AND THE FOOD WAS VERY GOOD.THE SERVICE WAS ALSO UPTO THE MARK.THE OWNER OF THE PLACE IS ALWAYS THERE TO HELP YOU TO SELECT THE FOOD. SHOULD NOT MISS IF YOU ARE IN THE AREA.
The Elephant – ChorleyWent to Truffles for my 40th birthday with my hubby and enjoyed every aspect of it. The decor and ambience are superb, not to mention the lighting (which changes colour) The food was delicious and presented beautifully. The staff were courteous and attentive. The prices are very reasonable and the choice extensive. Went on the first time it opened on Monday a Monday night and will definitely be returning. Fabulous! Cant wait to try a gourmet evening.
Truffles – ChorleyMe and two friends ate here on January 16th 2009 and it was the best meal I have had anywhere near Chorley in years. I had hummus and pita bread to start, then the fillet steak stroganoff. Absolutely superb! The cocktails are lovely and reasonably priced (and potent!). The only down side is the service is not very attentive. Drinks took a while to arrive, and we had to ask twice to see a dessert menu (having to get up to find a waitress). But it WAS full, so they were doing their best. Cannot fault the food, lovely intimate atmosphere. Really lovely.
Seasons – Chorleybest restaurant in the northwest, easily as good as anything in london.
Truffles – ChorleyAnother first class meal again at the plough. Staff are excellent. Good selection of beers and malt whiskeys. We will be back.
Plough Inn – ChorleyWe recently attended a Wedding Reception at Truffles (29/11/08). The food was superb, both at the main wedding reception and during the evening reception. The service was excellent and James, the proprietor/chef, came around personally to see if everyone was happy with their meal. He certainly had no complaints! On the menu was smoked salmon, fresh salmon, a chicken dish and many more - and the starters and desserts were fantastic. We would certainly visit again.
Truffles – Chorley29th November, had dreadful experience at this place. Seated an hour late and only then because we asked about what was happening. Starters came one was ok,but only ok the other was cold- not what you expect from mushrooms in sauce. Sent it back, came back still cold. Glass of wine ordered, wrong one came. Mains - ok but carrots cold. Won't repeat the experience. Daughter went on previous occasion, stroganoff running with blood but we thought that anyone can have a bad night but it seems this is the norm
The Halfway House – Chorleywe went on Saturday night and i was less than impressed!! we had to wait for our table even though we had booked. One of the waiters was very surly and was quite rude to me. the food was average, and quite overpriced for what it was. My boyfriend found a great big long hair in his steak which was a little off putting and they did change it although no apologies were offered. We were seated in the conservatory area which was nice whilst the radiators were on but halfway through our meal they went off and it went very cold. All in all, i think its safe to say we won't be visiting there again!
Alghero – ChorleyABSOLUTELY RUBBISH, THE SALMON WAS DRIED UP,. THE CHEAP VEGETABLES WERE OVERCOOKED AND TASTELESS, IT IS A "2 FOR £10". NEED I SAY MORE.....?
Yarrow Bridge Inn – ChorleyWe chose The Pines to celebrate a family birthday, and twelve of us spent a very enjoyable Sunday afternoon here on a beautiful sunny October day. After drinks in the airy conservatory area, we were seated in a private side room, which was perfect for the occasion and were looked after very well indeed throughout the afternoon. The food and service were good, and I would highly recommend The Pines for a special family occasion.
Haworths Restaurant at The Pines Hotel – Chorley17/10/08 Friday evening reservation at 9pm at the Shanghai Chorley. First time visitor and my opinion of this restaurant could not be more divided. On the one hand I thought the food was very good, you could tell that fresh ingredients were used and it was fairly well presented. 8/10. On the other hand the service was, in my opinion, extremely poor which was somewhat surprising as there were only three tables occupied so you would have thought that you would receive a high standard, sadly not so. Our waitress was clearly wanting to go home. We had sat down at our table and within less than 30 seconds she had presented us with the menu and asked us if we were ready to order!!! I said please leave us to look at the menu for a few minutes. 1 minute went by and I kid you not she was back and stayed at our table until we had chosen our starter and main course. Our bottle of red (not what was on the wine menu, but a minor hiccup) and starter arrived within 5 minutes. After consuming our plates were removed and replaced with our main course within a few minutes. After enjoying the food we were finishing off our bottle of plonk (time was only 9.55) and they must have decided that they were not going to get any further business that evening because the main lights directly over out table were switched on. Suffice it to say we were not tempted to look at the sweet menu and asked for our bill and after waiting about ten minutes for it to arrive paid at the bar. Great food but sadly appalling service.
Shanghai – Chorleyhad my hen party there last Saturday and what a night. good food, great atmosphere and fantastic hands on staff. a must if you haven't tried it, Laura
Boatel Party Cruises – ChorleyWe are regular visitors to Amelies but not as regular as our friends the Gibbons/Dunn. We go every opportunity when we have no other commitment but our friends say as they always eat out just one night a week they see no reason to even try anywhere else as the food is excellent, the atmosphere is extremely friendly and Annamarie is very accommodating and nothing is too much trouble. It is excellent value for money and by far the best restaurant in our opinion within a 20 mile radius. We shall be going again very soon with some of our other friends whom we wish to introduce to Amelies. Christine Moorhouse
