My Wife and I have dined here on numerous occasions, and will continue to do so for many years to come. The service is outstanding. The only problem with the place is the menu is just too good!! I can highly recommend the black pudding starters, the fillet steak (which the chef tells me is sourced locally) literally melts in your mouth and is always cooked to perfection no matter what your taste, and the trio of desserts is a perfect way to end what is always a perfect evening. I pity the people who have never been!

I will admit, I am not a great ice-cream lover, however when I went to Italy I was a convert. Unfortunately I have not tasted ice-cream like it since......that it until we went here. On my Sunday ride outs I noticed this is quite a popular place, somedays the queue will stretch right out of the shop and down the road, and rightly so too. We stopped the other week to have a try, and I can only say YUM! if you like ice-cream this is the place (forget Bonds) creamy Italian ice-cream as good as you get in Rome, it's a must

This is the best Indian restaurant I have been to, infact it's one of the nicest restaurants I've been to. The decor is tasteful and welcoming and most importantly the food is beautiful, all fresh ingredients, and so tasty, the chicken tikka Rogan josh is definitely my favourite, loads of fresh cherry tomatoes. The chicken chaat starter is really tasty. I'd say it was priced really well, you get what you pay for, good quality food does not come cheap, and it's only £8 or £9 for a chicken curry dish. Me and my boyfriend go and we usually spend about £40, that? including at least two drinks each, poppadom, two main courses, rice, chapattis and maybe even a desert. We must have been to the Blue Elephant at least ten times, as well as having countless take aways! I would recommend it to all curry lovers! Not a bad word to say about the place! We love it!

Wonderful I go a few times a month and it is good, may not look much from the outside but you get a warm welcome and lovely food at great price.

I've been to Alghero's about 10 times now and everytime I have a very nice meal - the food is always excellent! It always comes well presented and always hot enough. I mainly go on a Friday or Saturday night - that is their busiest time you therefore more than often have a long wait to be seated at your table (even if you have booked) - however there is a bar area where you can wait and have drinks and look at the menu. During the week i.e Mon - Thurs nights is not as busy therefore you can be seated when you are ready. The open kitchen is really nice - My thoughts are that if a restaurant has an open kitchen they have nothing to hide. If you are thinking of having a fantastic Italian meal I would defo recommend this - they have never let me down yet!!! Oh yeah - i would recommend the chicken in asparagus and white wine - really nice!!! and all the pizzas are lovely!! :O)

We recently had a retirement party on the royal sovereign and it was brill, we were consulted on what kind of night we wanted, and it was a very lively one! the staff were extremely polite, helpful and very good at their job! Especially to put up with a boat full of drunken old farts!!! Cheers

We went at lunchtime and took advantage the lunchtime special menu, which worked out at under a fiver each. I had pasta and my wife had a rissotto and they were both fantastic. Good portion size too, not the usual cut down version you sometimes get on an special menu. Would highly recommend.

We visited Alghero's in May 2006. We found the atmosphere on weekday nights relaxed, entertaining and above all else authentic! Seeing people sat around in concert t-shirts and skate-wear added to the relaxed vibe, for us far nicer than the pseudo-riche who visit mainly on the weekends in their Chelsea Tractors. We've always had great service from the sometimes loopy (in a nice way) but always friendly & helpful staff. It was good to see the open kitchen, with the co-owner on both chef and waiter duties with the troops, much respect for that Sir! The weekday atmosphere is also all the more relaxed for the announcement of people's birthdays, anniversaries, etc and subsequent crashing of serving platters and playing of unfortunately indecipherable traditional italian songs. The food has always been excellent, we can recommend the Chicken & Ham Tagliatelle and the traditional Sardinian dishes cooked perfectly. All in all a very fine restaurant, great value and genuine, caring staff.

I was pleasantly surprised by the restaurant. Having just moved into the area we have passed it many a time, to be honest it doesn't look much from the outside. We hadn't booked so had a wait a little while for a table. The staff seemed a little frantic and service was slow to arrive, however when we were served they were pleasant and courteous. The food was obviously freshly prepared and wonderfully tasty. I had an old favourite....calamari as a starter, when it arrived it was plainly fresh as it wasn't the usual battered rings, but well prepared squid slices in a lovely salt and pepper coating. I had the goats cheese and parma ham pizza for main and it was divine! the base was perfect and the topping was well thought out and delicious. Hubby's T-bone steak was tender and cooked to perfection. We finished with a real Italian espresso, we will definitely be going again.

I visited the Yew Tree after high recommendations from friends and i certainly wasn't disappointed! The setting for a start is picturesque, the atmosphere created by the candles is very warming and relaxing, the food was delicious especially the chefs signature dishes which looked as good as they tasted. The service was very efficient and friendly, definitely worth a second visit!!!

Congratulations, the yew tree is a fantastic pub whether for social or business. Paul the manager gives the place a real buzz. The bar staff are very friendly and the food was out of this world. Linda the head waitress is a real personality and makes the whole experience worthwhile.
