Parmesan And Pepper – ChorleyMy husband and I had the good fortune to visit Truffles for the 'Indian Gourmet Evening' on 28th March 2008. As long time and devoted customers of this restaurant it was hard to image that anything could surpass the usual excellenct standard of fare and service provided by James and his staff. My husband and I are great lovers of Indian spiced food, however, from the first, to the last course, we were given a taste of India that bears no relation to the usual meals served in traditional restaurants. The combination of subtle spices (the Sea Bass in Coconut & Coriander being a prime example), were a delight. We cannot fault the evening at all and, although we will be away on holiday for the French Gourmet evening we will certainly be booking for the Thai Goumet meal. If it in any way achieves the standard of the Indian experience we shall come away with a new respect for the cuisine of Thailand. Please try this restaurant. I can promise that you will not be disappointed. Yvonne & Tony G
Truffles – ChorleyVisited on March 17th for my birthday meal with my wife. It is very well furnished and has a nice lounge area by the bar as you walk in so you can relax before your meal. We were met courteously and shown to one of a number of tables and ours was in a horseshoe shape and the seats extremely comfortable to sit on. It has an extensive menu with all that you'd expect with some nice specials as well. we both started with Shish kebabs and both had chicken korai for main. They were both excellent with the korai being one of the best I've ever had. They were decent portions and my wife asked for part of her meal to take away which they were more than happy to do for us. My wife finished with a floater coffee and we then retired to near the bar area where we relaxed on the leather sofas. We had a few more drinks and left after an hour or so. The whole time we were there the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming and made it a lovely night. I highly recommend and will hopefully be a regular of this restaurant. Prices around £4 for starter and £7-£12 for main. Very good value and lovely food.
The Elephant – ChorleyWOW - amazing food, lovely staff who made us feel really welcome and great size portions. We landed on this pub by accident looking for a lunchtime snack and will now happily make a 40 minute journey from Manchester back to The Railway to show it off to friends and family. Please don't change - perfect as it is.
The Railway Tavern Euxton – ChorleyPositives: Very cheap; family friendly; welcomes large, noisy parties Negatives: Extremely poor service; slightly below average food; incredibly crampt; very noisy; receive dishes that you did not order; staff do not ask how everything is; 45 minute wait for the bill; staff remove plates before they have been finished with; staff failed to bring dessert menu
Verdes Restaurant – ChorleyExcellent and incredibly cheap
The Elephant – ChorleyI am sorry, but my experience at Blue Elephant has been very disappointing. Few weeks ago I had to take my daughter to her friend's birthday party in an Italian Restaurant in Eccleston. My wife and I planned to drop her off, go for an Indian meal somewhere close by and then collect her later. Not being local I searched the net and after seeing so many good reviews of Blue Elephant decided to give it a go. It was a Thursday night and there weren't a lot of people. We were bitterly disappointed. The food I can only describe as "atrocious". My wife and I eat out every week and visit many Indian Restaurants but this must have been the worst food I have ever tasted for a long time, we both just could not eat it. May be it was an off night, I don't know, but I don't expect food of such awful quality from any half-decent chef.
The Elephant – Chorleyvery friendly staff absolutely fantastic food and there's always a happy atmosphere
Original Farmers Arms – ChorleyMy girlfriend and i have been here on several occasions it has always been fantastic food and well worth the journey.
The Black Horse – ChorleyAbsolutely fantastic food at a reasonable price. Very varied menu and a great atmosphere.
Original Farmers Arms – Chorleyi went to the hartwood for i meal it was very busy but apart from that the food was disgusting the vegetables where cold, and the potatoes where hard which they hadn't been boiled for long enough they was uncooked, the dessert was very small and also the food was very expensive.
Hartwood The – ChorleySix of us dined at the Yew Tree last night, on our first ever visit, and had a thoroughly enjoyable evening. This attractive old inn is extremely warm and welcoming, with excellent service, a wide ranging menu to suit all tastes, and delicious food at fair prices. Congratulations to the management and chef for sourcing high quality ingredients and preparing and presenting them so beautifully and to the waiting staff for service with a smile. A first class place for a relaxed meal out. We will most definitely be going back.
Yew Tree Inn – ChorleyHad a great evening with friends and family. The food was fantastic, everybody had a great time, we will certainly be going back. Great Cask beers and good wine list - not over priced either. Well done to all the staff.
The Beaumont – ChorleyI am afraid to say that I found this restaurant to be quite grotty, the decoration is plain and boring, especially upstairs and this echoes the food. When I visited the restaurant I was seated on a wonky table. I ate a vegetable pasta which was rather plain and boring and lacked taste. I will not be re-visiting the restaurant any time soon!
Parmesan And Pepper – ChorleyImportant date and traveled 160 miles on the strength of other reviews. Totally underwhelmed! Venue cold, reception cool, meals mediocre, receptionist twice gave the phone preference over queuing customers, landlord spent most of his time disappearing to the ludicrously positioned till. How can a pub run-out of house wine? Only needed a bit of on the spot thinking! Only bright note were the young staff waiting on!
Original Farmers Arms – Chorley1st march 2008. our party of eight went for our first meal last night,we were not to impressed. The first table we sat at there was a smell like a sewer. So we moved to another table. The meal was over priced for the quality and portion size received. And on receiving our bill we had been over charged £10. much to our disgust.
The Halfway House – ChorleyHeard this was a decent eating place and was disappointed to find it was a pub. The food was as you'd expect, dry & bland. Good one to take the kids but not an evening meal for two. Overall average.
The Railway Tavern Euxton – ChorleyWe visited The Railway to celebrate my wife's 40th birthday. Given we're from Australia, I wanted a local restaurant that provided authentic local food from Lancashire. We were very impressed. The service was friendly and attentative and not too 'over the top'. The information on the menu was first class. We had bread to start, which arrived promptly - and was really flavoursome. The food arrived after about 30 minutes and was delicious. The dessert was a treat. And overall we enjoyed real value for money in an upmarket restaurant by Lancashire standards. We will visit again and next time will take our two children.
