We were a party of 3 adults and my 10month old grandson. The service was good and the food was of the usual high standard.

The Barn Garden Centre Cafe – ColchesterDined in a party of 8 - from start to finish an outstanding experience. Warm welcome with a prompt serving of pre dinner drinks. Chris was his normal helpful and professional self guiding us through the menu and wine selection. The food was delicious and the service attentive. The menu had excellent choices and was balanced. Our party thoroughly enjoyed the evening which was reasonably priced.
The Blue Anchor – ColchesterWe've dined here twice recently, we booked for the Peter Watts wine tasting event having previously had a delicious dinner only a few weeks prior with friends We had a wonderful evening. The food and wines were amazing, James from Peter Watts Wines was exceptionally knowledgeable The staff did a super job. Excellent value, we'll be returning again soon.
The Blue Anchor – ColchesterWent to the blue anchor with friends for lunch. We have been before, the staff are friendly and polite attentive not intrusive. The food is delicious good menu will be going back in December. They are slightly pricey but it’s worth it for what you get even the decor and ambience are lovely. If you haven’t tried give it a go.
The Blue Anchor – ColchesterAttended the Peter Watts wine tasting event, matching wine with food. Excellent evening, friendly and knowledgeable staff and great value. Super menu and interesting wines. We enjoyed it very much. Looking forward to the next one.
The Blue Anchor – ColchesterWe sat in the seating area near the shop floor out of choice because of the background noise in the cafe side ( we are hard of hearing! ) it was really cold though even though the overhead heating was on, our legs were frozen , rugs would have helped. The chairs weren’t very comfy either I am afraid The food was very nice we had quiche , pricey for the portion though .
The Barn Garden Centre Cafe – ColchesterGreat service. Friendly and helpful, polite staff. Lovely cake.
The Barn Garden Centre Cafe – ColchesterI love coming here and really look forward to the food. This time I ordered the open club sandwich and I was a little bit disappointed as it looked good and wA fresh and tasty but was a bit small I felt! I was still hungry afterwards which was a shame. My friend had the quiche which seemed much better value for money,
The Barn Garden Centre Cafe – ColchesterWe always have a lovely meal at The Barn and the service is excellent, with friendly helpful staff...but like a previous customer has said, the chewy inedible Kale ruins the Buddha Bowl, however the beetroot and fennel seeds were delicious. Please leave out the Kale and perhaps replace with Hummus?
The Barn Garden Centre Cafe – ColchesterFood was faultless. Flavoursome & good sized portions.
The Barn Garden Centre Cafe – ColchesterOne of our favourite places for breakfast!
The Barn Garden Centre Cafe – ColchesterGorgeous food, fantastic service and a really enjoyable night.
The Blue Anchor – ColchesterHad a lovely haddock and chips was lovely
The Barn Garden Centre Cafe – ColchesterFirst time we have been and the food was excellent as was the service.
The Blue Anchor – ColchesterWe were greeted by a not so happy looking Maitre D who showed us to our unclean table. We had to ask a waitress ( 1 of 3 staff who served us) to clean the sugar and crumbs off the table once seated. The chefs special menu replicated the main menu, so we didn't see the point in the extra paper used. There was a good choice of food and drink at reasonable prices. The atmosphere was OK. We would return as the garden centre is lovely.
The Barn Garden Centre Cafe – ColchesterWe thoroughly enjoyed our meal yesterday. The food was lovely and the staff were friendly and helpful.
The Barn Garden Centre Cafe – ColchesterWe visit the barn as our little treat and always enjoy the food. However the change in the Buddha bowl is very disappointing. Raw onion beetroot and the kale are awful additions. Ring back the old recipe please!!! The butternut squash salad however is amazing! Also please make more white chocolate cookies as these had run out!
The Barn Garden Centre Cafe – ColchesterAmazing 6 course taster menu at the Blue Anchor last night to celebrate my friends 60th birthday. Food was delicious and we weren’t rushed through the courses. Although not too busy, the pub still felt very cosy and welcoming. Staff were very attentive at all times. Would thoroughly recommend a visit. I will certainly be going back again.
