Three of us to dine - all our meals, all courses, excellent. Great place to dine, booking advised. Staff and food excellent! Dealt with food allergy brilliantly and very grateful for very pleasant dining experience. Popular venue for our family members! Will of course be going back!

The Forest of Dean has a dearth of good pubs and fooderies, so it’s a relief that I can recommend the Miners, Sling for good ale, good food, service and environment. The big feature is Sunday lunch, with a clever carve-it-yourself design whereby the meat is on a wooden board for you to cut at leisure during your meal. My Sunday feast was good with excellent cuts of beef and pork. Sides of vegetables and roast pots and Yorkshire pudding. My only gripe would be the desserts; this is the usual boring selection of sticky toffee, chocolate various, crème brûlée etc. Not that they’re badly done, but that British cuisine has hundreds of other dishes, and yet pubs persistently shove out the same 10 puds. Yawn! Also I would say the cherry ice cream is too strident to accompany the rhubarb crème brûlée. Staff are diligent and polite, if somewhat young, and therefore can’t answer all queries. Anyway- highly recommend, you need to book for Sunday, but I hear that weekdays are popular in this summer season.

Three of us enjoyed sunday lunch. The presentation, content, quality and amount of food were all excellent. The service was immediate and helpful and the tables were sufficiently far apart to allow privacy. Our visit was a success and real value for money.

We were a table of 5 everyone had different starters and mains. Food was lovely and hot , very well presented and very tasty. Unfortunately no room for a pudding. Maybe next time will forego the starter so we have room for a pud

Three couples had a meal on Monday night. The food was good, service prompt and the value excellent. The Miners appears to have special offers most nights and Mondays is exceptionally good value, with all food half price. They seem to have a business model that works as the restaurant was very busy. Would definitely recommend and visit again of we are in the area.

Really superb service and food in a wonderful old building that has been tastefully updated in recent years, with plenty of free parking. Pot-luck Monday a brainwave. Good outdoor seating for those rare sunny days! Very highly recommended.

.Although we have lived here for over 20 years this was our first visit as it was recommended . First impression: As we walked into the venue the bar was full of used drinking glasses. The table felt sticky. In both male and female toilets the floor felt 'tacky' to walk on . Staff were very helpful except they had to check-in with the 'boss lady' (who seemed to be very stressed) for clarification e.g my husband asked if could have a plain bread roll instead of brioche with his beef burger'. We were seated in an area where we could see the staff preparing hot beverages and drying the cutlery.... the tea towels looked 'grubby'. This area perhaps should be 'screened off?" our first impression wasn't a good one! However the food was absolutely lovely, fantastic, piping hot and good portion sizes. So a shame that the venue let it down. At the end of the meal we had to ask twice for the bill !

We were a party of six and had an amazing Sunday dinner on Sunday the 11th of August at the Miners. Our friends were staying with us for the weekend from Essex. They loved their experience of dining at the Miners and requested that we all meet up again in one month time and return to the Miners for another Sunday Lunch. The service, top quality locally sourced food and Staff were excellent throughout. The staff were attentive and efficient in their delivery of service to us all from the moment we entered the pub until it was time for us to depart. It is a pub and restaurant that provides excellent value. I work in the hospitality trade and will highly recommend the Miners to my guests. I give a 10/10 score to the Miners in my review, regards Catherine Harmer

As always, the plates are hot, the food is excellent and the service is slick, very efficient and very friendly.

Lovely location, love that everything on the menu is locally sourced. Great cosy feel , helpful and friendly staff and food was delicious My parents stayed the night and were more than happy with their spacious room and amenities and said the breakfast was amazing

Lovely meal, attentive staff any problems it was not a problem and sorted asap.

It's our 3rd time at the miners , and we have never had a bad meal. Infection their steak is always good. Everything cooked to perfection. We always have a habit of rating meals and this one of course was a 10/10 Very enjoyable

Another fantastic meal at The Miners. The haddock and chips was great start. Perfectly cooked fish encased in light, crispy tasty batter. The dessert didn’t disappoint . The chocolate and chilli ice cream was excellent- such depth. A sumptuous white chocolate crème brûlée was quickly demolished . Great service too.

Delicious food, excellent service and great value for money. The staff were welcoming, attentive and created a the perfect atmosphere to enjoy a first visit to the Miners - we’ve already booked our next one!
