Chucky

Visited for Sunday lunch last weekend with my very fussy partner. The Navy is a gastro pub with an old school feel, we started with a lovely home made terrine with leaves followed by gorgeous roast beef-cooked pink, delicious gravy and a crispy and huge yorkshire pudding. Worth a visit just for that yorkshire alone!! Best Sunday Roast in Cornwall in our opinion. £8.95!

This fantastic new venture offers sensational food, superb service and a relaxed, welcoming ambiance. Great value for money, and highly recommended - we've now visited twice and will definitely be back.

Ben’s Cornish Kitchen – Marazion

Had a superb meal (for two) on Sat 30/10/09 - food was so well sourced, cooked and presented - staff so friendly and efficient. The ambience was professional but casual. The puddings (we had the one where they give you a sample of all desserts) are out of this world. Highly recommended.

If you want an absolute WOW experience in dining, the Blue Plate in Downderry is for you! You are assured a warm welcome by the ever cheerful front of house staff; you will be comfortable at your table and the food will just be the very best Nick and his team can serve to you. It has been open three weeks and playing to packed houses every night - I have been four times and every time has been an uplifting experience - it is the talk of the village and unless you give it a try, you are missing out - badly!

We always look forward to eating at the Greenhouse when we visit St Keverne, and this year we ate twice on consecutive nights. The food is excellent and imaginative, the welcome is warm and friendly, and the bill is always very reasonable. We will look forward to eating at the Greenhouse again next year, and would recommend it to anyone who loves eating good food in an informal setting

Expensive. Average food. Bland chips. Pleasant but slow service.

This used to be a very good restaurant when it first opened, but successive changes of management have now ruined it. The last meal I had there (Saturday 11th October 09) was tasteless and overcooked. The waiting time for service is appalling and the new menu is not a patch on the old one. I have been eating at the Annapurna regularly since it opened; I will not be eating there again.

We ate at this restaurant two weeks ago and it was absolutely lovely. My husband had the skate and I had the whole crab. It was delicious. I managed to not hit my neighbour's in the eye with shell and was told that I had one of the cleanest table clothes ever, considering the potential for a blood bath. The staff were really lovely. They explained the dishes and were very attentive. No complaints at all, except for a loud group of Londoners on a birthday bash nearby who joined in with another group to be annoying. We are Londoners. Apart from that it was absolutely fabulous!

Mediocre food, the Chef should be aware of his front of house staff. The hostess was extremely surly in nature. They do not take credit cards and are not prepared to offer a choice of starter as a starter course and as a main. As some of our party were elderly and not large eaters this was a problem as the main courses were very generous. We did manage to negotiate a couple of meals with a starter for starters and main, but not without a very unpleasant encounter with the hostess/manageress. Would certainly never cross their threshold again.

Fantastic food, excellent service in beautiful surroundings with fantastic views of the harbour. Certainly well worth a visit.

Hello. Myself and my husband ate at this restaurant two weeks ago. Although it was a Saturday the service was spot on. Even if I sat here and tried there was nothing to complain about. The food was amazing. I had the scallops and black pudding followed by the pork followed by "the Beast"! Do yourself a favour and get down to Padstow! Loved it. The staff were lovely which always makes a meal too.

absolutely my favourite. Been there loads of times and every time a winner.great food taken loads of friends wish i could eat there every week fantastic

White Pyramid – St Austell

This Cafe has the ambience, food quality & presentation of a Blackpool Pleasure Beach Cafe with the prices a of a central London Restaurant - we regrettably didn't check prices before we entered but saw the sign & fancied fish & chips. The no more than 5oz Battered Haddock was tasteless, arrived only with a large bowl of McDonalds style (very thin) chips, a very small bowl of rock hard peas & tartare sauce!. For this & 2 small bottles of Coca Cola we paid £39! This is the worst value establishment have have ever been to - an absolute 'rip-off'

I had a very bad experience on my first (and certainly the last!) visit to this restaurant. I had dinner here recently with my wife and 14-month old son and although this place described itself as 'family-friendly', when I arrived there I was told rather tersely and unsympathetically that they do not have or provide high chairs for small children. When I questioned the owner (Abdul) about their claim on restaurant guides/websites of being 'family-friendly', his curt reply was - "you should have checked before you came and made the decision beforehand"!! To me this came across as an absolutely nasty shock and being particularly rude. Basically, he was implying that families with children are NOT welcome at his restaurant! Moving on to the food, I have to say that not only was the food far from authentic Indian (it was clearly Bangladeshi!), but it did not taste good either. The seafood we ordered was certainly not fresh and too much of colour and spices were used. To make things even worse, everything on the menu was overpriced (I have eaten in popular upmarket Indian restaurants in London and the prices at The Raj were around the same!). I feel that this is a really cheeky and dishonest tactic because the general impression is that if something is priced rather high, then it must be good!! Even the pappad and pickles that is served on arrival was charged at a ridiculous £3.80!! The really cheeky thing about this 'pappad business' is that as soon as we sat at our table the waiter comes up to you and casually asks you 'how many pappads you would like'. He never mentions (and I'm sure is clearly instructed not to!) that it is not complimentary, rather will be charged. This is a very deceptive tactic, as the guest is tricked into thinking that it is a complimentary item (as it indeed is in many good Indian restaurant across UK). The worst part of my experience at this restaurant was the absolutely impolite and uncouth behaviour by the owner of this place, Mr.Abdul. Not only is this person totally incapable of conversing with his guests in a polite and decent manner, but moreover he has this attitude about him that seems to suggest that he is doing his customers a favour by letting them eat at his place!! He needs to learn to talk and behave like the local people, especially those in Cornwall, who are amongst the most friendly in this country.

The Raj Indian Bar and Restaurant – Wadebridge

This restaurant /cafe - as others have indicated is pricey. Expensive is OK if visible and reflected in value. Unfortunately this was not our experience last week (Sep 09) We were handed menus and our gaze directed to the 'Specials' on display. Without checking the Menu we went for the trad. fish & chips on the board (pricey we thought at £9 ish each - but "hey this is Rock - it'll be good") We ordered two fish but with just one portion of chips for the 2 of us; Fish was fine - not excellent. Chips were matchstick frozen type but the pot of peas were 'rock' (pardon the pun) hard. Hungry.... we were fed. We were more than surprised though, to be presented with a bill for £33.50 which included a coke and tonic water. On checking - we were told that the 'on board ' price was the 'take away price' Sadly, we hadnt consulted the Menu after being shown the boards....knowledge is all Wont be going back. Far better value to be had elsewhere. PS Tables could do with a scrub. Wooden slats ingrained with ketchup doesn't look good. On the positive side - the waitress was pleasant, the location is enviable as is the classy seaside ambience but they shouldn't expect to profit from that alone by maximising takings from unwitting visitors in the short season.
