Paul Ainsworth at No 6 – PadstowWe come here every year, I dont know why I haven't reviewed it before. Its always a great experience eating here, they get everything right, top fish and chips, mussels and squid at good value or more exciting specials if you want to trade up. Good balanced wine list and genuine caring service.
Porthminster Beach Cafe – St Ivesbest fish and chips in bude
Sizzlers Restaurant – BudeDefinitely my favourite restaurant in st ives, food is fantastic - and staff very good. The parma wrapped Monkfish with Thermadour sauce is outstanding. especially good value when they do the 14.99 two course early bird - fab.
Alfresco – St IvesIt is fantastic!!!!
Tung Sing Cantonese Restaurant – RedruthI can strongly recommend The Talland Bay Hotel, Porthallow PL13 2JB. The food equals that of top London restaurants
Talland Bay Hotel – LooeI go to the scillys every year. We go to juliets garden at least 3 times per visit. The food is excellent. I recommend the Farm House Pate Salad with a glass of Elderflower cordial - Perfection on a hot summers day looking out over st Marys harbour.
Juliets Garden Restaurant – Scilly IslesA night to remember! This restaurant unknown to many but is the hidden gem of north Cornwall, myself and my family came from North Lancashire, to jazz week last year and many years before and we have eaten in virtually every place and I can say the Ben offers such wonderful delights and price is good for the largest plates ever! The service was wonderful, with a young male waiter who seemed to make the whole meal at ease and I am sure ill see him running something like this in the years to come. With the home form home charm, don? miss it... recommend in the busier period book in advance but sometime just pop in and they will try their best to seat u!
El Barco – BudeI went to Gulshan some years ago when it was in Grampound & I remember the food being good. However, on our visit tonight, the food was excellent! I had a really delicious lamb balti, with lots of tender lamb & a lovely thick flavoursome sauce. Really good portions of pilau rice (about the same price as Chantek, but at least 4 times as much!) The naan bread was cooked to perfection, unlike some leathery offerings I have been presented with at some Indian restaurants! I would even rate the house wine highly & I am quite fussy about my wine! A bottle is £10.50 & there is a reasonable selection of other drinks. Service was good & unobtrusive; the only criticism I have is that we booked for 7 & it was nearly 7.30 when we were shown to our table. Still, we were served pretty promptly. A good sign was how busy it was for a Sunday, with a steady stream of people for takeaways as well. The restaurant used to be a coffee shop & it is very light & airy. There is a small bar area & white leather sofas to wait on. Very clean toilets!! We are already planning our next visit & will pop in for takeaway if we are returning from a shopping trip in Truro.
Gulshan – TruroWent to Chantek for the first time last night - it was absolutely packed on both floors, really buzzing, but the staff could not have been friendlier. Our waitress just smiled all the time! We were lucky enough to sit right next to the kitchen, which is great fun, especially when flames shot into the air from the woks!! I chose red duck curry, which was wonderful, but I think I would have been more than happy with any of the dishes. Mine contained fresh pineapple & grapes! I only had a couple of minor gripes - the rice is overpriced for the size of the portion. It is £2.50 for jasmine rice & you only get a very small bowl, so you are left with loads of sauce. The noodles are also a bit pricey at £4.50. Also, the winelist is short & a bit ordinary eg Jacobs Creek, Blossom Hill etc. We paid £20 for a bottle of Chablis, which was nothing exceptional. My best friend is booking a table for Saturday on the strength of last night & we can't wait to sample another superb meal!
Chantek Thai and South East Asian Restaurant – TruroWe have eaten here several times and found it excellent, overlooking the harbour at St ives this is a fantastic place to eat, if you are going at the weekend its best to book as its always full, there is also another in the same chain as this in St Ives called Peppers further up the main street , also excellent.
Cafe Pasta – St IvesThis has to be the best-kept "secret" in the Cornwall. I have eaten here so many times because the Blackboard specials change daily and the Steaks and portion sizes are legendary. Chef, Gary and all the staff are really friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Lovely outside seating area in olde worlde courtyard.
Quarryman – Wadebridgewe were really glad we found this great spot. well cooked local food with a really laid back atmosphere
Lusty Glaze – Newquayfantastic location with the food and atmosphere to match
Lusty Glaze – NewquayIt is a lovely little place situated in a Cornish fishing village. The food was great, the menu had a good selection and the friendly helpful staff made it a great place to eat out with the whole family.
Moonflower – HelstonThe Garrack Hotel sits atop St Ives, where Phil Thomas served his scallops on a very unusual black olive mash, with Sakura leaves and grain mustard dressing. No time for a lengthy engagement, this combination rushed straight into marriage! The taste of the mash and the texture of the scallops caused a gleeful conversation in my mouth which hadn? anticipated such a happy blend. The purple leaves, like clover tasting of rocket, with the mustard dressing beautifully complimented the perfectly succulent seafood.
Garrack Restaurant – St IvesI can thoroughly recommend Coffee Traders in Truro. Great choice of hot and cold food, all freshly prepared and cooked to order; ranging from a toasted teacake right up to a cooked meal. Items include cakes and pastries, toasted sandwiches, home-made soups, baguettes and wraps, plus lots more, offering great value for money. The café has bright, airy surroundings, and the staff members are both friendly and willing to accommodate. A baby change facility is available on the first floor. If the aroma of freshly perked coffee doesn? tempt you, then nothing will!
Coffee Traders – TruroA wonderful meal and children made to feel very welcome. Great atmosphere, we will be returning soon!!
