Star Of Bengal – DarlingtonOne of the best alternative styled restaurants in the North. Took the wife here for her birthday for a bit of Caribbean style cuisine - we were very impressed. The decor throughout is lovely, the waiting staff where very courteous and had plenty of knowledge of the menu and made some great recommendations. The food was outstanding. We have been back since and will definitely be back in the future. Well worth a visit if you're looking for a restaurant different to the usual local type.
Ochis Caribbean Restaurant – Darlingtoni went to the blue lagoon with my husband for a treat, when i walked in, i wanted to walk out straight away, it looked like a cafe, but a friendly man came straight away to seat us, so i thought i would give it the benifit of the doubt. I should of gone with my first instinct! the menu looks like it hasnt changed in 20 years, my husband had the blolognaise risoto, and i had prawn cocktail to start, the risoto looked like it had be defrosted in the microwave, was watery and bland, just slopped on a plate, the prawn cocktail was fair. we waited over half an hour for our main dish, which was roast of the day (beef) and a steak dinner, the roast was truly disgusting!, everything was frozen, yorkshires, frozen veg, frozen roast potatoes, and the mash tasted off!, i ate very little, and it was £9.50! my husbands steak was ok, although they mixed salad and frozen veg which he left. i could not reccommend it highly enough that you go somewhere else! there was also another couple sat by us that also left all of there dinner. I can safely say that all their regular customers are over 60 and have been going there for years and dont know any different! we eat at a lot of nice restaurants, and feel qualified to say that this is truly the worst meal i have ever had. So save your money or choose somewhere else. Unless your over 60 and you have lost your taste and sense of smell. Also a friend of mine said she goes there with her mother under protest and has tried most things on the menu, and non of it is nice.
Blue Lagoon – Darlingtonfantastic Italian restaurant with a great atmosphere and tasty food for everyones tastes.
Sardis – Darlingtonmy partner and i travel around the north east trying to find a homely relaxed and an excellent food establishment. sadly we had not found a place where u cud find it all under one roof until now. we tried to book on the Friday evening for a table of two for the sat evening but we were told that they were fully booked and if a cancellation came we would be contacted. sat morning came around and we got a phone call to confirm our booking. i must say that our experience at the bridge inn from the minute we drove into the car park was WOW. the food was untrue, my wild salmon was amazing, the service so efficient and the establishment homely relaxed and tasteful. i would highly recommend this restaurant to any one who would like to try anything a bit different or just great food from around the world. just like to say thank you to all at the bridge inn for making our anniversary that we will remember. thank you James stein
Bridge Inn – DarlingtonPoor service and terrible food. Too many screaming kids. Will definitely not be going back and would not recommend.
Bay Horse Inn – DarlingtonThe Comet has been given a complete makeover and now looks amazing inside! The food and service are superb and all the main courses on the regular menu are under a tenner! With it's excellent location, overlooking the river, it's well worth a visit.
Comet The – DarlingtonI had been told about the otter and fish by a friend ,i live in York but will travel for nice food . Well five of us wanted up and booked a room at the croft spa and dine up at the otter on the Friday night. All i can say about the meal is wonderful, from the great food till the nice waitress called charlotte. With a great chef and this wonderful waitress this place will go far. But there is one down side it is a bit far from York to eat a few time a week.... pity.. but i will be back.
Otter and Fish Inn The – DarlingtonGreat restaurant! Been many there many times and had a great meal every time.
Garden Of India – DarlingtonThe best Chinese restaurant in Darlington. Highly recommended. Food is great, the staff are excellent.
Eastern Bamboo – DarlingtonMe and my wife had a meal at the Shapla recently, and where very impressed with the food and the warm and relaxed atmosphere, further enhanced with the charming service. We look forward to going again soon
Shapla Tandoori Restaurant – DarlingtonIt was my first time having Caribbean food, and i thought it was superb, some of the best food i have eaten for a while - and I love food! The restaurant was very empty (England were playing football), which meant the ambience wasn't as good as it probably would be full, but the food alone is worth a visit. Highly recommend this, and will be going back.
Ochis Caribbean Restaurant – DarlingtonI had a lovely meal with my wife two weeks ago.i will be back for my birthday in july. well done the chef..
Otter and Fish Inn The – DarlingtonSuperb atmosphere with food and service to match. What a transformation since the new owners have refurbished the whole business. They must have spent a fortune on the place, but very wisely. Highly recommended.
Otter and Fish Inn The – DarlingtonFantastic Sunday Lunch in a gorgeous village pub. We will definitely be returning!
Bay Horse Inn – DarlingtonWe visited the bay horse after reading the review in lifestyle magazine. and as it said in the book everything was amazing the food was cooked to perfection very good wine list and pleasant staff all in all a very good experience.
Bay Horse Inn – DarlingtonThe steaks are fantastic. Apparently lovingly matured by Chris Kattou personally (21 days matured). The fish is superb, they make their own tarter sauce( no bought pap). You have to try the Steak & Kidney Pie on a lunch time, It is out of this world. there are 6 of us who eat there regularly prior to a Mowden Park Rugby match. You have to do It.
Blue Lagoon – DarlingtonWe have eaten many times at the Fighting Cocks and have never been disappointed. The service is good with friendly staff and the quality of the food is fantastic. We would recommend booking a table as it can get very busy especially on a weekend.
