Had a great night, food excellent and not expensive, with some original beers from all over South America. Can't wait to go back highly recommended.

Voodoo Cafe – DarlingtonWould not recommend this restaurant at all, my wife was served 3 raw prawns at a price of 7.95 followed by a fish dish at 14.95, very small portions therefore additional veg and chips required which were extra, to add to the insult I ordered steak and kidney pie which came with very rare steak and kidney and what I can only describe as a square dumpling on the top. We were given a free drink however this did not compensate for the rare occasion we have a child free evening. I would recommend that this restaurant spends more time on producing quality rather than very pricey presentation!!
Bay Horse Inn – DarlingtonExcellent home cooked food, definitely worth a visit.
Baydale Beck Inn – DarlingtonSimply the best food in the area, consistently so,efficient happy service, good wine list, very good value, worth the taxi fare, wish I could dine there more often.
Oak Tree Inn The – DarlingtonUnfortunately The Chequers seems to have gone rather downhill since the above recommendations were written in 2006. WE visited last Saturday night and were surprised at how empty the restaurant was for a Saturday night. The food was average rather than being special and the portions not overly generous. The waiting staff were friendly but all appeared very inexperienced. What was also off-putting was the sheer amount of 'stuff' hanging from the ceiling, walls, and on shelves which made the place feel very claustrophobic indeed and certainly not a classy venue.
The Chequers Inn – DarlingtonThis is the coolest place I've ever eaten in. Mexican food full of taste, and the best price ever. A great place to meet people and drink a good cup of coffee and you can sit out side as well when the sun is shining.
Voodoo Cafe – DarlingtonWhat a fantastic Indian restaurant, food is out of this world, service second to none, take away also top class would recommend, go on give it a go you will not be disappointed
Spice Garden – DarlingtonUsed to be good but has gone downhill. Now serves very sweet curries with glace cherries as garnish! Avoid.
Garden Of India – DarlingtonVisited this fabulous restaurant whilst staying in the area. The outside perhaps doesn't give the best impression however when you enter the welcome is as warm as the Caribbean itself. Excellent food which was well presented and of very good value. Will definitely visit in the future when back in the area!
Ochis Caribbean Restaurant – Darlingtonextremely good landlady (Sue)and her staff are very courteous and the food is well above the normal standards and also during the winter months Sue has her log fire on and this makes it a homely effect too. Thanks SUE
Bay Horse Inn – Darlingtonmy partner and i always go here and find the service and the food fantastic
Garden Of India – DarlingtonI went to this restaurant after hearing rave reviews from a friend. I don't normally like Chinese food but this changed my mind completely. The food was delicious and I liked how it's still run by the family after so many years in business. Nice intimate atmosphere, and honest and friendly waiters. The owners Raymond and Sally were really nice and welcoming. It's really good value too, especially the set menus. Highly recommended!
Eastern Bamboo – DarlingtonThis ordinary English town-center pub offers a surprisingly good Thai-food menu. Nothing over-fancy but very ample portions of good hot spicy food. I visited again recently for the first time since the smoking ban and enjoyed it even more. Now one can see right across the room! And depart after dining without stinking of other peoples' stale smoke. At the same time, the place has been marginally smartened-up without losing the appeal of its unpretentious character or by being prettified. There are excellent tables by the large front window allowing good views of the comings and goings in the Horse Market. The walls have an interesting range of old photographs of bygone local scenes. The draught beers are well kept and not served too cold. The food orders are individually prepared, so expect to wait for about 20 minutes for yours to arrive. A decent lunchtime plate of tasty food for less that £6 can't be bad! It deserves support. (I confess I've never visited this pub/restaurant other than at weekday lunchtimes. Sometimes pubs change clientele and their character in the evenings and at weekends.)
Hole In The Wall – DarlingtonSunday lunches at the Buck Inn are great value and tasty! Friendly staff too.
Buck Inn The – DarlingtonAbsolutely superb restaurant. Lovely warm and cosy atmosphere with very friendly and polite service. Food is exceptional quality and portions can be enough to feed a small elephant, so you won't leave hungry. I must recommend the Chicken Tikka Bhuna with Pilau rice, with has extraordinary flavour but not as hot as the Madras, which is also a lovely dish. Myself and my partner now refuse to go to any other Indian restaurant.
Shapla Tandoori Restaurant – DarlingtonVery cheap food and nice atmosphere. The food was a bit uninspiring and delivered to our table in 2 minutes flat suggesting it was not exactly homecooked...but then I guess you get what you pay for!
Springfield The – DarlingtonThe best Indian in Darlington- in fact the best I have had! Really delicious food in a lovely atmosphere with attentive service. Very generous portion sizes, we always eat far too much! A tip though: if you have reserved a table make sure you turn up on time- we were 15 mins late once and the owner/manager was not impressed and had given our table away! It was a busy Saturday night though.
Reema – Darlingtoni have been eating here for 5 years now and the food just keeps getting better. the staff are fantastic to. a must for curry experts.
