We had a lovely evening at the Castle Inn, really good pub grub, friendly service and a great atmosphere.

You get a welcome at this Inn. The Landlady is very friendly.

The Sunday lunch was delicious. We wouldn't go anywhere else !! The staff are really friendly & welcoming. The service is sublime.

We had Fish and Chips and the Exmoor Ale Pie, lovely food, very tatsy, very friendly staff, the young girls serving were polite and bubbly in their service. We stayed the night and had a great room.

I recently stopped into The Castle Inn on a Tuesday evening, hoping to grab a bite to eat, and I was genuinely blown away by the experience. From the moment I walked in, the team made me feel incredibly welcome. For a Tuesday night, the atmosphere was unbelievable — the pub was buzzing with energy thanks to the weekly quiz, and it created such a lively, enjoyable vibe. I ordered the ribs, which were exceptional — some of the best I’ve had anywhere. My friend joined me and went for the burger, and he couldn’t stop talking about how good it was, describing it as “out of this world.” The Castle Inn turned what was meant to be a quick stop into a standout evening, and I’m already looking forward to my next trip to North Devon. This pub will absolutely be my first destination when I return.

Absolutely fantastic. Great food, staff, and atmosphere. Very well priced too. Any staff working 27/09 deserve lots of credit for being so lovely, attentive, and enthusiastic. Definitely recommend!

Went here with my partner for tea whilst we stayed locally food was amazing hot and massive portion size my partners steak was cooked exactly how he liked the staff were helpful and friendly highly recommend

Lovely evening, delicious food served by welcoming and friendly staff

The service was extremely slow due to there apparently being a lack of staff. Food was just warm enough to eat. Limited deserts left. No crumble particularly. Wife’s beef was excellent.

Stayed at this great pub had an excellent evening meal good atmosphere and also a great breakfast in morning lovely staff on bar and In restaurant would recommend this venue to everyone in the area visiting or living there.

We had a very nice evening at the Poltimore Inn. The staff were really friendly and attentive and the meal we had was delicious.

There’s only one thing from stopping the Castle from getting a 5 and that’s the gluten free option means having things removed from your plate. Things like cauliflower cheese could simply be made from corn flower, then it’s accessible for everyone coeliacs are not on a diet, they just can’t eat gluten. I get Yorkshire pudding might be more of a problem, but just buy them in, then we would happily come more often.

Had a meal here while on holiday and loved it so much we went back twice. Excellent tasty food, wonderful service, worth every penny. Beautiful views out the back and we wouldn’t change a thing.

Lovely place. Unlike any other. Has great views, lodges and an observatory. And excellent food.

Staff were absolutely brilliant and advised us to order quickly as they had a table of 18 about to order. Overall we’ve always enjoyed your food. However, my wife felt her fish dish from specials board was a little over cooked and the pastry on the two pies ordered a little undercooked. The two sticky toffee puddings were really enjoyed . A busy night when your chef was under pressure
