Awesome Easter Sunday lunch as ever. Been coming to The Sloop a lot over the years and it never fails to impress. Dealt with my son’s allergies with no question or hassle. Fabulous place.

Well what can I say!!!!!!!!!!!We booked this for a special occasion, the surroundings were amazing. However the food was appalling. 2 rosettes I don’t think so. Had problems with our lunch order, and dinner was non-existent? Had to send items back, we were not the only people sending food back, at least three other tables in a quiet restaurant. If you want something special for that price, I would look further afield. To top it off the owner/manager doesn’t take criticism well.

I was working as a fundraiser at the time and our team decided to take a break so we can rest our legs. My female colleague used the toilet and ended up buying a lemonade and peanuts from the bar.Me and my friend were strapped for cash, but as no one else was in the pub and someone had paid for something, we decided to take a small break in one of the booths before we headed out.10 minutes rest later, before we left, my colleagues left me to take care of their items, as they went out to smoke. At which point I was aggressively approached by a woman and asked if we had finished as quote 'This is a business, not a Charity!!!'. At which point I tried to be civil and replied 'In the future I may choose to come back here, I just don't have any money at the moment and my friend did buy something'. At which she replied 'Well if you spend money here in the future with us, you'll be welcome to come back, but it's not my problem if you need a rest as I'm running a business'.I may have understood if we were taking up space that other customers were using, but as I said literally no one else was there. It was an aggressive outburst that frankly wasn't warranted, even when I tried complementing her on the interior design of the pub she just made a snarky comment on how 'Yes this business!!! Is nice isn't it'.I for one will tell my friends to go elsewhere if they're ever in Kingsbridge, as I'm sure there are much more affable places in such as nice town.

I have to say that I havent been for to the Mahabharat in nearly 5 years and we went back last sunday I realised why I dont go there...... There was no atmosphere, the staff weren't friendly nothing was offered, just are order taken. When we asked why we hadn't been asked if we wanted anything extra they didnt take any notice and ignored us.....so in the end we got up and walked out this will be the last time we go to this restaurant again..... what they seem to fail to realise its the locals who keep them going in the winter and they now have lost 2 locals and alot of my friends.

Visited this pub last week while on holiday in the South Hams. Great place to eat, excellent locally caught fish dishes and the steaks looked good too.. Serves a great selection of Otter ale and the Heron Valley cider is worth trying.

me and my wife have been holidaying in Devon for years and have often visited the church house inn as it is a wonderfully located pub just a mile from the beach and with a great beer garden to relax after walking the dog. we have always enjoyed our visits to the pub but the last time we visited the food we experienced was the best we had eaten in years. locally sourced fish cooked in creative and internationally inspired ways really excelled our expectations and we cannot wait to return next year!

I love the whole concept of this place - nose to tail eating with the emphasis on seasonal and very local produce. There's some really unusual stuff on the menus and I have never ever been disappointed on the 3 or 4 times I've visited. A proper Devon gem.

The Dodbrooke is the best pub in the town and one of the best in the country. Friendly, plenty of locals and holidaymakers, the food is excellent and locally sourced and the beers are immaculately kept with a good variety and interesting guest beers featured every week. Gilly and Mike Dyson are the owners and run the pub so well there is an easy, relaxed atmosphere that belies the hard work that goes in to maintaining the pleasant and enthusiastic alehouse so well.

Recently changed hands. Gone is the hand picked crab, Gone is the extensive fresh local produce menu, Gone is the wide variety of fish dishes so excellently prepared and served. Now it seems "out-of-the-packet" - might attract grockles, but not me.

Definitely gone down hill recently, apparently due to the presence of the new head chef, sloppy presentation and over-cooked fish seem to have become commonplace in what used to be one of my favourite restaurants in the area. however, lovely welcoming place to stop by for a pint or glass of wine.

Has to be the best Fish Restaurant in the South West which is proven by its popularity. When its busy its worth the wait as you can't book a table. The Fish Specials board is a must, but the main menu is always superb quality.

The best celebration restaurant. We celebrate our 25th anniversary at The Soar Mill Cove and they could not have gone to more trouble to ensure we all had a fantastic evening. Great food, really attentive service and a very special venue. Not an every day restaurant but well worth a drive for that special occasion

When you first enter the Start Bay it is with some trepidation. Will I get a table? How long is the queue? How many people are waiting at the bar to get served? Let me assure you - it is well worth it! The fish is excellent and they serve Otter ale and Sharpham wine. We have been here so many times I can't even count and have never been disappointed, even when we have had to share a table with complete strangers... Wow!

The food at the Millbrook Inn is very surprising for such a small pub. The restaurant standard food included Foie Gras, Lobster, Seat Trout and the most incredible puddings. They are keen to use very local produce - their salad comes from a little beach just around the corner. Very pleasantly surprised to find this little jewel in such a remote place.

I would not recommend this place at all. I e mailed them for details of prices, menu etc prior to a holiday in the area and there was not even a reply.

we recently are out at the church house inn, stokenham after a recommendation from friends. the food we ate was no doubt some of the best we had sampled in the local area. but unfortunately we are unlikely to be returning due to the poor service. the waitress was very attentive but the young barman was extremely arrogant, obnoxious, patronising, and very unkept in his appearance. we were very dissappointed that we had to wait for our bill whilst he ignorantly played cards with the locals. on this occasion the quality of the food was definitely over shadowed by the lack of care shown by the staff, which in our opinion is a real shame.
