Hewat’s Restaurant – EdinburghExcellent Sushi at a good price in Edinburgh, we are lucky.
Sushiya – Edinburghv good beer choice good atmosphere very busy as rugby was in town will return
Abbotsford – Edinburgh6 for dinner it was fab fab
North China Restaurant – EdinburghWe booked a table for two on a Saturday night at 9pm. We paid £70.00 for 2 meals and 2 starters + a bottle of wine. I have dined in far better Thai restaurants and paid much less. Service was OK, food OK but not much else to talk about
Thai Lemongrass – EdinburghGreat place to eat when in Edinburgh, the food and service were both great. We tried another 4 Italian restaurants in Edinburgh the week we were there and la Piazza we could not fault which is more than I can say about the other 4 Italians we went to, a truly great dining experience.
La Piazza – EdinburghMy fiancé and I had a wonderful evening at the Plumed Horse on the 3rd of January. We were greeted by a very friendly ma?e d' that allowed us to pick our table. It was Wednesday night so rather quiet. I started with a cheese soufflé that well exceeded my expectations. It was so light and full of flavour I would have gladly had another straight after. My partner started with the fish soup, which at £14 a bowl I was dubious about. However, when it arrived it looked and smelled excellent. After Karen tasted it I asked for a wee taste and was told 'no chance' - which is surely a good thing. I cannot remember what Karen had for her main course but I had the roast rib of beef which came cooked perfectly. For my dessert I had the bread and butter pudding with Pedro Ximenez ice cream which was absolutely to die for. The service was fantastic. Attentive without being obtrusive and just the perfect level of formality that suited us best, We can't wait to dine at the Plumed Horse again and have in fact already re-booked. I would thoroughly recommend dinning there to anyone that truly wants to experience quality cuisine.
Plumed Horse – EdinburghWell, what can one say....... a fantastic place to strut my little butt and wiggle my jiggle to some cheesy mexican "sombrero" music. I enjoyed the ambiance of ralph lauren shirts, pink pashminas and jolly old chaps.....at one with oneself.......no!!!!
Garibaldis – EdinburghGood food but main advantage is "bring your own wine" - £1 corkage. It is very popular and booking is strongly advised, usually 2 table sittings per night so decide between early or late before trying to book.
Buffalo Grill – EdinburghCame here with 10 year old son after failing to find the Thistle St Sushi place. Enjoyable sushi, not that we are experts. The cones made from seaweed were a bit tough for our liking but the sushi with less seaweed was good and the fish fresh and tender. I enjoyed the green tea and red bean ice creams, my son was less keen. He liked watching the chef and the Japanese TV. The noodle based main courses looked good.
Sushiya – EdinburghThe food and service were well above average. However, the restaurant is most interesting as it occupies three rooms which have been converted from an early seventeenth century boot and shoemaker's shop, workshop and residence. It was once owned by the father of the artist, David Roberts and is where he was born.
SongKran 2 – Edinburghgreat place a good mix of casual but the service and food are of fine dining standards, great place for guaranteed good meal, no nonsense and professional place
La Piazza – EdinburghBeen using this restaurant for many years. Jimmy Wong recently sold out for it to be purchased by the owners of Siagon Siagon. Who have really attempted to continue, quite successfully, the standard set by Jimmy Wong or at least by his chef. The deep fried chilli beef is a must equally so aromatic crispy duck and grilled sole Peking style.
Rendezvous – EdinburghI first visited this restaurant about 25 years ago when I was a student in Edinburgh and I'm delighted to find that it still exists. It is a truly unique experience to eat here...and sometimes you do a lot more than eat. We used to dance and look at Armenian atlases and have stimulating discussions with the owner. You must go here at least once in your life. Evelyn Roe
Aghtamar Lake Van Monastery In Exile – EdinburghHad a fantastic time on our yearly trip to Edinburgh. Stumbled on garibaldi? by accident .great atmosphere and music. a bit like blade or dusk till dawn felt there was something going on but not sure what ! What ever, it was the best night out we've had for ages we'll be back next year..............
Garibaldis – Edinburghfood very good service good
TGI Fridays – EdinburghThis may sound like a cliche but the meal I had at Dusit surpassed every other Thai meal I have had (and I have been to Thailand!). To start I had the satay chicken skewers which were nice but the absolute clincher was my main course. It was a seafood dish (unfortunately I can't remember the name) which had jumbo king prawns, scallops and pieces of monkfish in a delicious sauce that was a bit sweet and a bit sour. Divine!
Dusit – EdinburghPossibly the best meal I have ever had. The menu was so extensive I had trouble choosing!! A whole new world of vegetarian food has opened up!!
David Bann – Edinburgh2 courses for £16. Available Monday to Friday until 7pm.
