We are 3 fifty somethings who arrived at the restaurant on the afternoon of Saturday 22nd July. We were looking forward to a lovely meal in pleasant surroundings which had been previous experiences for all of us. Sadly, Saturday was to be completely the opposite and ended with us walking out. As we were early for our table we asked if we could sit in the bar area and have a drink. We were deliberating over a specific wine when the owner came over to ask if we were ready to order. One of my friends turned to ask if we were happy with our choice. The owner interrupted saying just yes or no. My friend tried to explain but the man just walked away and went back behind the bar. She made several attempts to apologise and stated we did not mean to offend at which point he made a comment that we were obviously brought up differently. At this juncture all 3 of us were incredulous and once again my friend tried to resolve the issue. The owner was totally dismissive and walked away. By now the atmosphere was extremely uncomfortable and people seated in the restaurant had started to look over. It was at this point we decided to leave. On our way out we tried to speak with the owner’s son whose only words were ‘I know!’ The whole experience was humiliating, unnecessary and a blatant disregard for customer service whatever their gender, race or colour.
