Food as tasty as always but service unusually slow so decided to forgo dessert. Will be returning though

We travelled from Bristol to go to Clearwell caves, we googled pubs near the caves and yours had good reviews We were pleased with the choice of food on the menu and specials board There were four of us, two of us had the faggots, one had Scampi and the other had fish and chips It was presented well and good portions, in fact we didn't have room for a desert We didn't have to wait long for our food, the service was good and the staff were very friendly and helpful The pub was beautiful, cosy and atmospheric, we love old pubs and this one made us feel relaxed If we come to Coleford again we would definitely go back

Tried the 2 burgers for £18 deal on a Wednesday and it was brilliant. I had the vegan burger with halloumi and was so good . There is dairy free cheese option if vegan. My husband had the double classic burger and said it was great. The chunky chips were some of the best I have had (and I eat a lot of chips!) perfectly cooked and piping hot and fresh. We had the homemade white chocolate cheesecake and homemade brownie and both were superb. Highly recommend and will definitely be back. The pub is done out lovely and the staff super helpful and drink prices reasonable . Thank you to the Cod team for a lovely meal and afternoon

Great atmosphere, I didn't feel rushed when choosing meals, staff are so friendly and always have a smile. Food exceptional, tasty, delicious there are no words good enough to describe the food. I had a well done steak it was the best steak I have ever had, it was well done melted in the mouth and was absolutely perfect as was my husbands. Big compliments to the chef. If I ever want a steak I will always visit here.

Fantastic venue, great range of drinks on offer and fun quiz! Great night and staff were so friendly, couldn’t do enough to help!

As always, considerate location of table given we had a wheelchair and the need for a babies high chair, slick service, hot plates and excellent, tasty food. Perfect. Will be back of course !

A really nice meal, with excellent service from friendly staff. We also loved the artwork dotted around the The Miners. It appears to be a well-run business, with a varied menu and a warm atmosphere.

Fantastic Sunday lunch as always. The meat comes on a board for you to carve, plenty of fresh veg, lovely roast potatoes and gravy. The staff are friendly and helpful. This a family favourite venue for us

Three of us to dine - all our meals, all courses, excellent. Great place to dine, booking advised. Staff and food excellent! Dealt with food allergy brilliantly and very grateful for very pleasant dining experience. Popular venue for our family members! Will of course be going back!

The food was very good, we thoroughly enjoyed it all and the young waitress was so helpful. The staff were also so very kind and helpful when my friend felt unwell as we were leaving.

Had a lovely visit to The Codrington Arms. We were served quickly and efficiently by a friendly member of staff. Food was really good ....well presented and good portions

We had a table for 6 on a Saturday night. All Good ! Food was delicious with good service. Would use again.

The Forest of Dean has a dearth of good pubs and fooderies, so it’s a relief that I can recommend the Miners, Sling for good ale, good food, service and environment. The big feature is Sunday lunch, with a clever carve-it-yourself design whereby the meat is on a wooden board for you to cut at leisure during your meal. My Sunday feast was good with excellent cuts of beef and pork. Sides of vegetables and roast pots and Yorkshire pudding. My only gripe would be the desserts; this is the usual boring selection of sticky toffee, chocolate various, crème brûlée etc. Not that they’re badly done, but that British cuisine has hundreds of other dishes, and yet pubs persistently shove out the same 10 puds. Yawn! Also I would say the cherry ice cream is too strident to accompany the rhubarb crème brûlée. Staff are diligent and polite, if somewhat young, and therefore can’t answer all queries. Anyway- highly recommend, you need to book for Sunday, but I hear that weekdays are popular in this summer season.
