My family and I have visited the Hare and Hounds at Bowland Bridge on many occasions over the last few years and the present owners who took over late last year have transformed the place. We visited twice over the 2011 Easter break and can thoroughly recommend the food and ales ( the twice cooked chunky chips are to die for). The staff are first class and always take the time to chat to customers. Meals are served all day, so if you are in the area don't miss it

A fabulous pub with all the right 'ingredients' Great real ale, excellent food, warm friendly reception from the locals, and the family run owners. A visit is a must!

Dined at the Pheasant on Saturday then felt compelled to return on Sunday. The main course was delicious followed by a fantastic dessert. My husband had the belly buster burger both times and I had to have the duck twice. The sticky toffee pudding was devine and the blackcurrant crumble and custard was absolutely wonderful. Hope to return to the Lakes later in the year and will definitely visit the Pheasant again.

Stumbled across this place last night. Great looking pub with Olde Worlde charm even though it apparently has just had a refurb. Very friendly staff and the food was good too. Shame it was so quiet, so go and give them some custom!

I've been meaning to write this review for ages since we visited for my sister's birthday (below). The food was absolutely phenomenal - huge portions, rich flavours and cooked to perfection. The lamb shank blew my mind. I was responsible for arranging the meal and Charlotte was so helpful from the start, providing us with a fantastic menu and answering all my queries. Can't speak highly enough of her. My sister's birthday was really special and a big part of its success was definitely the food and service.Go go go!

Bit of an iconic place in the Lakes now. Has had a great reputation for a long time. On the whole we were not disappointed. My wife and son really enjoyed their food. I had the Christmas Turkey which wasn't up to much but will not hold that against them as it wasn't a staple of their menu. The place has real character in a wonderful part of the countryside. I have stayed there in the past too and would also recommend that.

A real find this place. Near a wonderful old house we took for a week. The Derby Arms has a Dickensian feel, with its real fires and period features. The food was excellent too and encouraged us to eat there 3 times during the week.

Absolutely the best culinary experience during a week in the South Lakes. So much so that we returned again for Sunday Lunch. The Roast Dinner was definitely the best I have had in a very long time and would certainly recommend. Service very attentive and personal, including adjusting the spice levels in food to cater for taste. View from Conservatory made it a lovely setting.

This pub catered for me and 21 members of my friends and family for my 30th birthday. Not many pubs in Cumbria will take that many on as we learned that they get a lot of tourism anyway and didn't want the hastle, but The Pheasant Inn were friendly, efficient, professional and catered for all our needs also the food was fantastic. Top class pub!

Wonderful hotel with character. Beautiful views over Morcambe Bay. The thing I noticed was how immaculate the place was. The rooms are great value. Will be back.

We just had to email you to thank you for 4 evenings of excellent food, waiter service and finding the time to talk to us in your busy dining room. Thank you so much to Michael and Matthew, you are such experts at your job, making us feel welcome, your attention to detail, your smartness, your manners and happy faces - your brilliant and at a young age, your an example to others - we wish you all the very best for the future and hope to meet you again one day. Thank you to the Chef who we never met. Your dishes were spot on and just as we like them. On all four nights the standard never varied and we could not wait to try the next dish each day. We did love the pancake though and the sticky toffee pudding the best. John has made the tomato and pepper soup which you gave him the recipe for, tasted similar but not quite the same. Just wish we could enjoy them now that we are home. Thank you Julian (J) for spending the time to talk to us and for making us so welcome at the Lindale Inn. We do hope one day we will be able to return.

An outstanding restaurant & a must for anyone who enjoys fine dining. We stayed overnight on 10 May 07, the rooms are good value & nicely decorated. We chose 'The Tour' menu which consists of approximately ten courses & costs £70. The food is fantastically tasty, incredibly well presented & completely deserving of a Michelin Star. Breakfast the following morning is included in the cost for the room & was excellent too.

My wife and I are avid walkers and whenever our weekend strolls take us to Cartmel we always pop into the Mallard Tea Shop for a meal. The food is excellent ~ in particular the cakes and desserts which are sumptuous! The soup is always very good (and filling!) as are the sandwiches, jacket potatoes etc.. Prices are very competitive for the Lakes ~ we were charged a ludicrous £5.50 for a small bowl of soup in Troutbeck recently! The cafe is "themed" in that all the interior decoration is duck related ~ which makes for a very relaxing atmosphere. Staff are courteous and pleasant and the cafe itself is just a stone's throw from the famous Cartmel Priory which is well worth a visit...

The best food we have had in the lakes and believe me with have tried many. We have a caravan in the area in this is where we eat every Friday on our way in. Food is excellent and I challenge anyone to find a better chip. The welcome is warm and they are great with the kids. A lovely pub
