I Went here for a meal last night & as always very good food. The Duck was slightly on the tough side but, this didn't stop me finishing the whole lot off. The Service was excellent and prompt & the Bill was very reasonable for the food we were served.

My Fiance and I went for lunch yesterday at the Cartford Inn and were very impressed. I'd say its one of the best looking pub restaurants in the Fylde. Modern and upmarket but still retaining a rustic charm. We both said that it was a great menu, in that it was very difficult to select one each from all the choices. I had the chefs special, which as expected was excellent! It would be a poor do if it wasn't. My partner had the Duck and we ended up sharing. We had a couple of glasses of Shiraz which were good especially for a house wine. You don't expect young male waiters to be much good. They tend to shuffle about mumbling and looking embarrassed. Not this lot, they had been trained well and were open and friendly. A credit to the French owner who also has beaten us at our own game, hearty wholesome stylish British pub grub.

I would not recommend this establishment. The food was a disgrace, the owner obnoxious, although the staff helpful. The food was overpriced rubbish and I would not eat there again not even if it was free.

Have been here a few times now as it is one of the nicest eating places in our area. The Rib-eye steak, a favourite of mine is always done to perfection. I like it rare and the Chef here understands 'rare'. Too many restaurants overcook, i.e. rare becomes medium-rare to medium, medium ends up well done. My good lady can also recommend the Fish Pie. Tasty. I also intend to sample the Rack of Lamb if I can persuade myself to order that in preference to a Rib-eye.

Food was good on the whole although one of our group sent food back because it was cold. Service was unbearably slow. It took 1 hour 15 minutes to get from being seated to getting the food on the table. we were given menus for desserts and no one came back to see what we wanted. we eventually told a waiter we wanted a bill because we wouldn't wait any longer to order desserts. No bill came and after 20 minutes we went and paid at the bar - Although the food was good we won't return because the service was so poor.

I went here on Sunday Night for a family meal & had as always a very good time i had the Melted Reblochon cheese with Lyth valley damson jelly in a cripy filo parcel served on a bed of seasonal leaves to start which was very tasty and unusual. For my main course i had the 8oz Fillet of beef with chunky chips and peppercorn sauce, it was excellent although i did ask for my steak to be medium and it came medium to rare. And to finish i had the Cartmel Village shop sticky toffee pudding with ice cream, this ended the meal perfectly, apart from the steak being cooked slightly rare it was a brilliant meal & i will be returning in the near future. Thankyou

A little overpriced for some average food, the best reason for visiting the Cartford used to be because of the superb Hart beers brewed on the premises, sadly their policy has changed and they no longer sell these award winning beers and have changed to some standard, unexciting brews. They must be the only pub in the UK that has a brewery attached and don't sell the local beer. Come on, get your act together and get these supreme beers back on tap.

I went here again on Sunday night with my family and had yet again a superb meal. The Venison sausages were very, very good. As usual i will be returning. Thanks

Had an excellent meal here last night. Very laid back place, fantastic food and good wine. We had fillet steak and the lamb hot pot. Fillet was cooked perfectly with a tasty pepper sauce and some of the biggest chips I have ever had, the lamb hot pot came with homemade pickled red cabbage and these awesome tiny loaves of bread. If you have not been to this place you really should try it, it's one of the best in my local area.

I went here for tea on Monday night with some friends and had a brilliant meal, the Cumberland Sausages were cooked to perfection and the service was great. This restaurant has recently got a mention in the Michelin guide and I can now understand why. Thank you for a great meal, I will be returning soon.

My wife and I visited on 29/09/09 and had two courses each. We both started with a skewer of king prawns, scallops and pineapple with a chilli jam - it was excellent, all cooked to perfection and presented very well indeed. Full marks. My wife then had the Fleetwood Fish Platter which she thoroughly enjoyed, it was a large serving, too large for her. I had the spicy lamb kebabs with a tagine of Moroccan vegetables and cous cous - We truly could not fault the food or presentation. An excellent meal in pleasant surroundings.

My wife and I visited The Cartford Inn last week by chance and were delighted without find. The Inn is in fantastic surroundings, with views of the hills in the background and the river running right next to it. The atmosphere in the Inn was brilliant with great ambient music, excellent staff and the perfect ambience for an enjoyable meal. Which brings me onto the food - they are a Michelin recommended restaurant and we had great expectations which were easily surpassed. They serve the best fish and chips i have ever had - hands down! I would recommend a trip here whenever the possibility arises.

I went for a meal here on Sunday and was pleasantly surprised by the food i had. For my main course i had the The Cartford Inn 8oz beef burger with cheese, the thick cut chips are by far on par with Twelve. And for dessert i had the Crème brulee of the day which was vanilla and yet again was very good. Its the 2nd time i've eaten at this restaurant and i will definitely be returning. Thank you

Sorry - it's not a recommendation. My wife and I came for a meal on her birthday yesterday with great expectations. We had been once before and had a beautiful lunch. Yesterday's meal started well with exellent wine and tasty nibbles. The main courses were, however a big let down. My wife had the Duck with blackberry sauce some sort of special potatoes and veg. When it arrived it was luke warm and the Blackberry Sauce was actually blackcurrant jam - oh dear. I had the Chef's Signature Dish, Steak & Oxtail pudding, mashed potatoes, green beans and beetroot in balsamic vinegar. At least this was hot, but the potatoes were a little solid, a little dry and I'd swear they were powder potatoes! Not quite what we expected. The place was full at midweek so it must have developed a good reputation. Maybe we just had an off meal - or two actually.

Excellent food. However, the Cartford seems to confuse 'atmosphere' with noise. The evening was ruined by the sheer volume whilst seated upstairs. Please enjoy the food but avoid being seated upstairs if you can.

Just returned from this delightful pub, the staff and the atmosphere very friendly, the food was exquisite and very well priced. I would recommend The Ship to anyone.

what a cosy warm restaurant/inn. The food is definitely comforting as well. I had the cassoulet and stringy fries. Not the authentic cassoulet from france but heartwarming nonetheless. my mate had the hot pot which was devoured also. good guest ales and live music once a month. live blue grass band. I think its on the 5th Feb.
