Some of the BEST pub food I have ever had! Restaurant standard food served in comfortable village pub surroundings. Excellent ale too, including Timothy Taylor's Landlord Bitter. A well deserved pat on the back is offered to Jo, Steve and all the team . Can not wait to visit again.

Deal is food and drink for £5.00 home made curry by Maria is fantastic better than the local Indian! and she always has at a bowl at some point during the week on the bar for the locals to try. They also do steak night which again is a deal wine and steak. Sundays lunches are the best your full after your lunch! and not forgetting the good old quiz night after you have had your tea.Home cooked food at its best by Maria service with a smile and home from home. Nothing is too much trouble. It has gone from good food to top quality food, excellent service and friendly helpfull staff.

Its never any trouble to substitute veg/salad/potatoes etc and they will always try to meet individual needs or specific requirements.... Always busy but worth a wait and good atmosphere, staff are great, especially Jo, landlady! She makes the place....

The Bottomleys Arms – HalifaxI saw advertising for this Fish and Chip shop and have used it a few times now. Unfortunately, the money spent on good advertising has been thrown away. The girl behind the counter was generally disinterested (yawning) and apart from throwing the fish and chips (of each customer) into the boxes - she was quite rude. I shall not be recommending this shop to any family and friends again and I certainly won't go there - other shops will be more than happy to receive my money and custom.
West Vale Fisheries – HalifaxWe are regular visitors to this restaurant and are always very happy with the excellent food and service. The staff are courteous and very professional. Last weekend we had the pleasure of attending my husbands company Christmas meal there were 17 couples in number to be served at the same time. Well done Julio staff all had a very good evening and an excellent time. there was no rushing and no one was urge to move on after the meal was finished, we all chatted together in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere. Mamma Napoli – HalifaxI moved to stainland in 2011 as my husband Alan had lived here for many years, I wanted a local country pub and the Duke of York offers a homely feel to a pub, where everybody makes you welcome and even as new comers we felt like we had been friends with people for years. As we are now regulars to the Duke of York and we consider James and Maria as our friends. They offer excellent service and always have a smile so we decided to have our wedding reception at the pub on 17.9.11. We invited 50-60 people and all our guests were made to feel welcome. The buffet was excellent as always, maria's cooking is fab. Maria and James had a smile for everybody all day, our guests stayed till late into the evening and now my family feel part of the local pub life. We had a fantastic day and would highly recommend the Duke for any functions or if your passing just call in for a meal or a drink. Duke of York – HalifaxWent in for the first time in years as people that had it before really put us off...it was like an episode from the munsters. Could not be more different, food excellent and a totally different atmosphere and they actually have some stock behind the bar. Keep it up guys!!!
