Two meals here so far and I intend to make it three very shortly. The food is excellent, the portion sizes good, the ambience and staff very friendly. Beer and wine selection should, I imagine, cater for most tastes. On top of all this, the pricing for the meals I have had were very competitive for this area.

we went to la tavas in a group of 6, and we were all disappointed the size of the portions were more for children,and the food was not that good, and it was i was pricey. the place had no atmosphere the manageress was abrupt and very off handed all you heard was her yelling at the poor waitresses. no we won't be going again and will not recommend either

great beer,excellent food,real fires

Just had Sunday Lunch there. Roast beef thick and moist. Vegetables hot but crisp and Roasties beyond compare. Yes we will be going back.

Very popular with locals for eating & drinking (Always a good sign). Good food and good ale in an atmosphere that is genuinely welcoming and not too much of a strain on the pocket. If you like to feel that you have been well fed - this is the place. Set in a scenic location in an old mill- village at the head of the Luddenden valley. Perfect for walkers. Worth finding, --Just head for the Windmills!!

10/10 - Fantastic food, great value for money & excellent service. The menu has something for everyone on there. Well worth a visit. Very popular!!

brilliant place. excellent food (two 4 one deals on Mondays & Thursdays, other specials nights). v friendly staff. drinks prices are a bit more than your local pub but it's worth it for the night out.

We had a lovely Valentine's meal at the Duke, the food was lovely, reasonably priced and the staff were very attentive and polite. Lovely good old Yorkshire Hospitality. We will be back soon ...

We have been visiting this restaurant for several years now and can honestly say that we have never been disappointed. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Its not even too expensive!

Ate here 16 Feb. The pub is really friendly and has a real homely feel-slightly shabby but adds to it. All the staff are really friendly. We ate currys - £6.50 for curry, rice and nan bread and an extra 50p for chips cooked in skins yummy Sticky Toffee Pudding was delicious even if I shouldn't have had it :-) Will eat here again most definately. It's a pub grub menu so not flash dining but as my "new local" I will be eating here once a week

this is one of the best restaurants in Halifax. the menu is extensive and they usually have lots of early bird offers. The wines are fantastic value and very reasonably priced. as for the meals, the portions are large, very reasonably priced and always use fantastic local ingredients. The ambiance and decor is a bit quirky and stylish. The service is fantastic. we go almost every week because we love this place. But book!

Visited this pub on Sat 6th Feb and cannot recommend it highly enough. Such a lovely old fashioned pub with a roaring fire. Ordered a drink and then went straight to our table. Really nice menu, struggled to pick something off menu because I wanted everything. Eventually chose scallops, lamb and orange creme brulee. The food was absolutely delicious and really well presented. Staff were great too. Prices were good for the quality of the food. We will definitely be going back soon.

I have been to this restaurant many times. The food is superb. The environment is poor, cold, dark, miserable. The staff are very aggressive. Standing at the end of your table, arms folded, staring at you. So not a nice place to eat. The food really is worth it though. So if you want excellent food in a cold dark miserable environment go to Crown Tandoori.

I could not recommend this restaurant, they failed to deliver at every level, poor service and very disappointing food. And they handled my compliant in and unsatisfactory way, and then when I was offered a "full refund" 25% was witheld. Food that is not hot, mostly just warm, undercooked, dry meat, pretty awfull Christmas pudding, and being told to go downstairs to get myself a bottle of carbonated water ! Smart interior, but they didn`t deliver ...

The Griffin has new management - Matt Roberts and his team have rejuvenated the place, the atmosphere is excellent, the pub is warm and friendly. There is a good range of well kept beers and other drinks to suit all tastes, the food is absolutely top notch and the service pleasantly efficient. The menu is eclectic, it was hard to make a choice because there were so many things that I liked on it. Sea bass and lamb tagine superb!!

A fantastic pub and really friendly hosts! Definitely one of the best pubs I've been to and the food is fantastic. Definitely worth a visit if you're ever in the Halifax/Huddersfield area!

Tired interior and tired looking owner staff nice but owner or manager has false facade food ok on specials-main menu bland in my opinion
