Ziggys Spice House and Pizza Bar – HalifaxWe visit this pub on a regular basis for the friendly atmosphere and warm greeting that you always get. James and Marie and all the Staff provide service of the highest standard. The bonus is the food, always good, always served with a smile and at a very reasonable price. I have recommended it to many and will continue to do so>
Duke of York – Halifaxa place to go to to eat in halifax at the moment with their new chefs and refurbished premises with ac great
Ziggys Spice House and Pizza Bar – HalifaxA very friendly place to visit, with customer service second to none. The range of drinks and the super varied menu with staff going that extra mile to make you feel welcome, makes me return to the Duke on a regular basis. They do lots of little extras that you wouldn't get everywhere (like chill the glasses for the chilled champers) if you order in advance. Well recommended.
Duke of York – Halifaxi found the pub to be very friendly with a good character inside with the wooden floors and ingle nook fire, a very outstanding range of red and white wines, the food was plenty to chose from. i would recommend anyone to pay a visit this place.
Spring Rock Inn, The – HalifaxNot been before, recommended by a work colleague. Beautiful setting, especially when the sun is out and you're sat in the garden. Loved the food and wine and my boyfriend said the real ales were very good. Old and rustic with a good friendly edge, will certainly visit again
Shibden Mill Inn – HalifaxA group of 8 of us ate here last Saturday and I have not got a bad word to say about the place! The ambience was delightful and the staff so friendly. The food was amazing. My partner recommends the "Tiger Tears" steak which he loved. Most items on the menu could be ordered with chicken, pork, beef, prawn, salmon or just veg so there was plenty of choice for everyone. The vegetarian option is almost half the price too so it was a bonus for me. The noodles are gorgeous here, better than plain bland noodles I have had at other Thai restaurants and the sticky rice was also very nice. I cannot recommend the choclate cake that I had for dessert enough - it was absolutely amazing! Price wise it was decent. It was £190 for 8 of us and that included 3 bottles of wine at a tenner each. We will definitely return for another fantastic meal.
Tum Nuk Thai – HalifaxThis old pub has now become hidden so well, that only locals have any chance of finding it. But visitors should make the effort. A good, sound pub meal, but with enough choice to satisfy the jaded, is served by friendly staff at a pocket friendly price. The single bar is supplemented by a terraced garden area.Traditional ales available. It provides a cracking lunch time venue within a couple of minutes by car from the town centre. Sandwiches from around £3 and "main meals" about £7
Shears Inn – HalifaxA Jacobean mansion with delightful walled garden offers an unexpected setting, near Halifax, for an upmarket type meal, or accommodation vastly different from the chain hotels. Panelled dining rooms sparkle at night with traditional napery and the bar area offers an entrance to the garden for summer evening aperitifs. A well planned menu should tempt allcomers and the food is presented at a high standard to match the surroundings. The well selected wine list is varied and fair. Service was pleasant and professional; an interesting misselection, by the chef, of the salt cellar, when a sugar shaker was required, produced an alarming creme brulee based concoction, but it was quickly replaced and all puddings were removed, unprovoked by complaint, from the final bill. Definitely a hidden gem to be wrestled from the grasp of knowledgeable locals and to gain favour with your paramour, or to impress your elders. Surprisingly, Sunday lunch is not available. Budget about £40 per head to include house wine.
Holdsworth House – HalifaxA brilliant location, very homely with wonderful selection of cask ales and lagers. Alex is the landlord,ex Royal Navy, and a great character, down to earth bloke. The food is all home cooked and a delight to see and eat! Alex has all types of bands/artists performing on a regular basis outdoors, what a setting...the views are outstanding, great for country walks. Looking forward to the next visit.
Cat in the Well, The – HalifaxI thought the meal was very nice compared to other Indian restaurants the portion sizes are probably smaller. however the meal altogether is very nice.
Kamran Balti House – HalifaxUpstairs and not over-inviting entrance, but excellent value and an all round, sound, standard curry house meal. All the usual choices, and the chef will tailor curries to your liking, if asked. The early bird menu (served until 10pm!) offers a 3 course choice and is topped up with a poppadum and coffee. Excellent value at £5-99. Own drinks permitted, but a bar is available. Friendly staff. Easy street parking and central for town.
Kamran Balti House – Halifaxhad a great meal, service very good, lovely home cooked food plenty of it,well worth a visit
The Bottomleys Arms – Halifaxgreat food.friday night smashing night out .watch if you go sat night or sunday the guy not very nice as if he is doing you a favour.everyone else very helpful though .
The Bottomleys Arms – HalifaxThe Griffin Inn has been tastefully renovated and redecorated. It is now more restaurant than pub, but retains its bar area for the real ale drinker. Food is excellent with a printed core menu and a specials chalk board with a selection of changing starters and mains. Watch out for special event evenings, pie night on Tuesdays is well supported.
Griffin Inn, The – HalifaxEaten at this lovely traditional pub a few times and always had a good meal. Went last week and new chef has improved menu and quality of meals. If you like great pub food this place is must. Good beer garden too. Service is informal and friendly.
Maypole Inn, The – HalifaxThe location is actually Sowood but that aside I love this inn! Lovely views down the valley from the garden area outside in summer and return visits are always a pleasure. Excellent food, excellent location and friendly and efficient service!
New Inn – HalifaxVery good meal pleasant surroundings but can be squeezed up if sat in a corner. Staff very helpful and pleasant, would suggest go early evening before it get very busy and you need to book. Price of the meal reasonable but you get a plate full, well worth a visit.
The Bottomleys Arms – Halifax5 dishes for £40 and 2-4-1 cocktails.
