Best food in Hastings

Booked a table there for lunch on their website and when I arrived I was told that they didn’t know about my booking because they had not checked their email. As a ex landlord the first thing I did when coming in was check my emails for any bookings for the day. Unprofessional.

Me and my daughter both had the steak. It was cooked perfectly and delicious. All the sides were very tasty and we also had onion rings and calamari which were both great as well. Definitely recommend :)

Fantastic atmosphere, really friendly and attentive staff. Food was great, but a real shame that at the moment (6/24) they have to rely on outside assistance with this as they don't yet have a resident chef. I'm sure that will change soon. It is a real gem of a place, and another example of the tucked-away, cultural and culinary beauties that this unassuming town has to offer. Long may it last and thrive - and I have decided that I will be returning regularly. Thank you for creating such a fabulous place.

Visited for a Sunday carvery . A lovely meal with good size portions and variety. The staff were extremely friendly, helpful and efficient and we look forward to attending again soon.

We had steak night, the steak was cooked to our preference, portion sizes really good. The meal was beautiful, service friendly, would highly recommend and looking forward to returning.

Well, Barnabys did not disappoint! Delicious cocktails, with so many to choose from; scrummy food, fabulous entertainment, and warm, welcoming staff. Ambient, cosy, perfect to celebrate our friends birthday.

Had an amazing time at Barnaby’s Lounge and very much enjoyed their live music and cocktails. Service was great, atmosphere was very friendly and fun and the live band, Southern Lights were brilliant. Will definitely visit again!

I've been a regular at Barnaby's, sampling their drinks, foods, music, and hospitality and, over the weekend, we tried their NEW Roast Dinner - it was wonderful! I had the vegan lentil strudel, and my partner had the beef, and then we shared a sticky toffee pudding (the portions were generous and neither of us had room for a whole dessert each!). It was all cooked to absolute perfection, and all the food was so fresh and flavoursome, served by the chef with a well-earned pride. Definitely coming for this again; can't recommend it highly enough. We also had the awesome experience of having a front row seat, in their plush, upholstered chairs, to enjoy the fabulous treat of 'Barnaby's Lounge 16-piece Jazz Band' playing outside the venue while we leisurely ate and drank - what a feast for all the senses!!

20th of feb 2016. Rushed into the nearest chippie to get out of the cold. Wished I hadn't visited this one and walked further on to the Blue Dolphin. It was cheap enough but what a gloomy place, watery tasteless fish, watery ketchup ... Never again.

Visited Hastings Wetherspoons Saturday as usual Charlie and the team extremely helpful, all smiles. Went back for breakfast Sunday morning had eggs benedict, presentation suberb tastes delicious. I recommend you stop in here.

DISGUSTED Extremely slow service. Did not have health rating visible anywhere in the restaurant or takeaway window (I looked for it after I realised how visually dirty it looked and a staff member moaned there were too many plates on the floor so she could not walk though. Rude and unkempt staff. Poor quality fish asked for haddock sure I got cod (Did not even use fresh scampi) THEY ARE ON THE SEAFRONT. Poor quality cooking. A mixture of underdone and overdone chips in one portion.The couple in our group that ordered their food first got it last 25 minutes after ordering it. (Pie and chips) The Curry sauce was VULGER; it was not chip shop curry sauce but more like a jarred curry sauce watered down.

Good pint of ale, good food. Had a good time, yes would go back. Thank you to all the staff.

I visited this restaurant on Saturday 19th April and it was terrible. The service was terrible, I have never heard 2 waitresses say sorry as much as they did during my visit. The tables were dirty, I had to get my own cutlery, my pie was cold and when I returned it it was heated in the microwave and handed back on same dirty plate, the bread was stale and unediable. I was given half a cup of tea with no spoon to stir the sugar. Avoid Avoid Avoid

Went there yesterday. A customer paying his bill complained to staff that his meal wasn't fresh. I thought he was just being awkward, alas he was right. Whilst waiting for my order I noticed the ceilings had leaks and there was buckets to collect the water. The salt and sauce cruets were grubby and blocked. Once my order arrived I could only take a few mouthfuls of food then paid and maid a quick exit. For a seaside fish restaurant this place should be avoided at all costs.
