We live locally and have always choosen the Flintlock for the odd meal out when too late home to cook, friends and family visiting, birthdays and anniversaries, never disappointed, always fun to look at the different menu boards, always something different to try.

Dear Sir, visited restaurant on Saturday 5th May 1015hrs. Noticed new decor, lay out and toilets. All of which was great. Unfortunately the service had deteriorated. We use this stop 4 times a year, going to and from holiday, and have recommended to many friends. Usually, as soon as you are seated, there is someone there to take order for tea/coffee while we peruse the menu. This sis not happen and we waited for someone to take the complete order. There did not seem to be enough staff on duty and what there was were very busy. We Ordered, The Eastcoast, the sausage, eggs, hash browns were lukewarm/cold and the fried bread was greasy but not cooked through. My wife had the 4 pancakes, which were cold. On leaving my mentioned about the pancakes so we were given refund on them, which we thank you. On Saturday 19th at 0828 we returned, on the way home and decided on the Santa Monica. The toast was cold and the orange juice tasted watered down, this may have been that it had been over-chilled and Ice have formed in the juice which when melting, gave the impression on being diluted. I thought that I should bring it to your attention in the hope that improvements will be made. We have visited this establishment since 1986 so have regarded this as part of our holiday experience. Thank you for your assistance in this matter. David Goodfellow

We stopped there for lunch 2 weeks ago. 45mins wait for food, cups dirty, eggs not cooked and charged 80p for a slice of the poorest quality white bread and butter BUT no butter served.... never again

I took friends to the newly opened Route 303 on Easter Monday about 5.00 pm.. What a disappointment! The old Newcott Chef on this site was absolutely appalling and anything would have been an improvement but sadly the new diner will have to improve in almost all departments to attract any returning customers. Most of the staff appeared to be untrained and apathetic or just incompetent. The menu sounded appealing (even though it was massively overpriced) but after waiting almost an hour to be served ) even though it was not busy) our food arrived and was obviously mass produced bland and unappetising (not the Real American Food they spoke of on the website). Mushrooms still frozen, chicken not fully cooked, potato skins too hard to eat, coffee weak and lukewarm, milkshake tasteless. I travel on the A303 almost every day and would have loved to say this new diner was worth visiting but it will be a very desperate day if I set foot inside there ever again. I would rather eat road kill.

Well after stopping at the Newcott Chef, which this diner has replaced I can safely say we will never be frequenting this establishment. Having been delayed in our journey by a badly managed diversion near Mere on the 303, we were delighted to see all the lights blazing and somewhat desperate for both a coffee and a bite to eat and also to use the facilities I ran into the still fairly populated diner and asked if the were serving coffee etc on being told they were closed, I asked if I could use their toilet quickly and was told "no I have turned the lights off". Well thank you, we come along this road quite regularly and have always recommended the previous establishment, we will not be going to this new place ourselves or recommending it. simply courtesy takes little madam,

My wife and I love going on holiday to the US, going to Route 303 reminded us of some fantastic holidays. Great food, really nice servers, and the music was the best. If they sold a CD of the music they played I would buy it!!

After a long trip from London the Flintlock Inn was recommended by the owner of the B & B down the road. We were pleasantly surprised. Great food, friendly atmosphere, a totally enjoyable evening. Will definitely visit again when in the area.

We spotted the sign for the The Flintlock on a long (Fridy night) journey to Cornwall. What a find - perfect for a relaxing meal in comfortable surroundings full of character. The fun starts as you walk around the menu boards, drink in hand, to make a choice with advice from regular customers indicating that everything is good!! They were right - the food was great, well presented and with generous portions Two courses later and two very contented travellers continued on their way.

We saw a sign on the A303 directing us to The Flintlock Inn, just inside the Devon border. This was a real find. The pub was full of character, with a wood burner and bread oven. The owner was very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. The staff were attentive and friendly. The french onion soup was the best we'd ever tasted and the Sunday roast was plentiful and truly delicious. We couldn't manage a third course! I always like to check out the toilets to make sure they're of a good standard and these didn't disappoint. They were well decorated, very clean with fresh flowers. I'll be recommend this pub to all my friends and we'll certainly be stopping there again when en route up the A303.

A beautiful country pub in stunning surroundings. Sitting outside in the warm summer months is a must overlooking the river Otter as it gently sweeps by. Great food at affordable prices, children are welcome and there are great deals for oap's. The staff are warm friendly and welcoming. The pub serves traditional ales and sitting by the open fire during the winter is a real comfort. This is an all yr pub, excellent come rain or shine.
