Sunday’s dinner was absolutely amazing, but the gravy spoilt the meal as it was too thick and set on the plate. Had lamb shank and expected lamb gravy, but we all had the same consistency and type, disappointed.
The Beehive – Houghton-le-SpringCame on bank holiday Monday for food after seeing all the food on facebook looking amazing! Unfortunately we won't be back. We didnt enjoy our food at all. My partners steak was all fat and chewy he couldn't eat it. I got the uncle rodger burger I think it was called and the shredded beef on it was freezing cold, menu said it had bacon on and it didn't, was just little flavoured crumbs that was so over powering. No crispy onions on it either. Told staff about my partners steak and they took that off the bill and our 2 drinks which we were great full for. Very slow service to. We waited just under a hour for food.

The Beehive – Houghton-le-SpringCame for the first time on Monday and was so disappointed as the food that I have seen online looks amazing. I can’t fault the waitresses as they were kind and attentive but we weren’t told there would be a wait for food. It took an hour and a half for our food to arrive. I ordered the lasagne and it was basically just pasta and cheese. There was hardly any mince or bechamel sauce. I didn’t think the food was worth the wait. I would try again but maybe something else from the menu.
The Beehive – Houghton-le-SpringReally disappointed with our first visit here on Saturday! Was really looking forward to this as I had seen posts of their food on social media which looked delicious. Children’s Mac and cheese was so salty my daughter was unable to eat it, when telling this to a worker, I was met with some attitude from this lady who was quite snappy. An alternative meal was offered and we took this away due to having to wait further for this to be made, however my daughter bite into this burger which was still raw inside so she could not eat this either. I ordered the mosala flatbread which was very disappointing. There was no taste to this whatsoever, the sauce was like water with red food colouring in it, which went everywhere and stained my fingers and mouth. Will not be returning, such a disappointment.

The Beehive – Houghton-le-SpringWe've ate at the Beehive several times but not on a Sunday. We've heard so much about the Sunday lunch, and decided to book . The meal was superb, Yorkshire puddings were amazing. The meal was second to none. The staff were wonderful, not too intrusive, but there if and when you needed anything. Do not hesitate to book the Beehive, whether its during the week, or Sunday. I would highly recommend the Sunday lunch.

The service was on point, with staff looking after all our needs. Looking forward to returning and trying more of the menu.

The Middle Stump – Houghton-le-SpringGreat meal again, been a few times now and never had a bad meal. Food was amazing and staff were very warm and welcoming. Took slightly longer than normal for the food to come out but I think that was just because of how busy it was.
