Great food

We enjoyed two meals recently and both were cooked and presented to a high standard. We shall definitely return.

The Pheasant is on the very edge of Keswick and I have overlooked it for years and this was my first visit with 3 family members. The food, ambience, service, and ales were all excellent. Before booking I read all the reviews which were excellent with the exception of the most recent review which seemed vindictive and had a ridiculous statement about the pheasant breasts really being pork chops. That didn’t put me off at all. I ordered the pheasant, was served a generous portion of pheasant breast in a rich sauce and it was delicious!

We had the Sunday roast here and it was amazing - great veggie option too. The cheesy leeks deserve their own mention as they were delicious. Did not complete - order a small so you can attempt a pudding! :) Staff were lovely and friendly too.

Lovely pub, very friendly staff and excellent food.

Staff were incredibly friendly and the menu choice was great. Reasonably priced so close to Keswick centre. Food was good. The atmosphere was good however as it was 28 degrees outside the older building in the raised up bit of the pub was uncomfortably hot. Maybe invest in some fans.

It’s usually great in the Pheasant,been there several times,but last Sunday the 6th July was not a great dining experience.The food was poor quality,not up to the usual standard.The beef pie had very little meat in it,and was tasteless.The chips were rock hard and dry and had clearly been reheated . The service was non existent for at least 20 minutes despite the member of staff saying he would be “back in a minute” to take a drinks order. I will put it down to them being very busy,and leave it at that.

A lovely local pub - great selection of beer , wine and other drinks. Tasty, well-presented food . Friendly staff . We had 3 great meals here - all good. Generous portions!

The owners went out of their way to accommodate 4 adults and 2 dogs with food and drinks and I’m glad they did the pub/restaurant had plenty of character and was fully booked the staff were very friendly and extremely helpful the menu was adequate and the food was plentiful with a good choice of ales very reasonably priced.

A lucky chance find! Great pub,very busy - always a good sign. Lovely friendly and helpful staff, food was great. Would definitely return if visiting the area.

Our 2nd visit during our 2 week holiday. The pub was very busy, and unfortunately the waiter who took our food order didn’t put it through to the kitchen. Another member of staff came and asked us after 45 minutes of waiting if we had ordered our food, apologised profusely and gave us another round of free drinks. The food then came quickly, very good again, 2 curries and a scampi. The waitress was very good when I was stung by a wasp during dessert, getting me some ice which she put in a clean cloth to apply to the sting. The menu caters for everyone, the food is home cooked, plentiful and delicious. Would recommend this place to anyone.
