Came for a meal with friends on Saturday evening. We’d booked in advance and sat in the bar area which is dog friendly. Lovely pub with an open fire which was perfect with snow falling outside! The food was delicious, I had the meat pie with veg and chips which was so nice. Sticky toffee pudding was amazing but too big for me to finish. If you are after a proper Lakeland pub with great food I’d look no further. Thank you.

Great service and lovely food in a very cosy pub

This was our first visit for several years so we were not sure what to expect. When we arrived the place was buzzing. Very busy, as we imagined it would be, so we settled in for a long wait for food but in the end it wasn’t too long before ours arrived. We had opted for the beef Sunday lunch and were very glad we did. The beef was thickly sliced, lean and well cooked, just as we like it. It came with roasties, mash and a Yorkshire pudding. A good selection of veg came separately and a jug of gravy. All in all the lunch was brilliant and could not be faulted. The service was excellent, especially considering how busy the place was and we would have no hesitation in wholeheartedly recommending The Pheasant. We will certainly be back. Well done to all concerned.

Great food, great value. Good atmosphere in pub, nice hosts and helpful staff, but Saturday night was so busy and tables very tight together, combined with many people with dogs, made the experience quite fraught for the staff.

8 of us went to the pheasant after a long walk with the dog. The food was delicious and the portions generous, the staff were so friendly and attentive and we really couldn’t fault it! Would 100% recommend. We all had the steak pie and it was spot on!

Absolutely fantastic meal at the Pheasant during our trip to Keswick. 4 of us had the home made steak pie which was delicious and very generous portions and the other two had lamb Henry which they also thoroughly enjoyed. Brilliant atmosphere in the pub and service excellent.So glad I booked this venue only wish it was my local!

We received a warm welcome by the staff, and the service was really attentive. The menu and food was just what we wanted (I went for the (cumberland sausage dish with all trimmings - excellent). Overall I would definitely come back after experiencing such a lovely evening (next time I am in Keswick)

We had lunch with our daughter and her friend and as usual the food was excellent, with generous portions, and friendly staff.

Went for a Sunday afternoon birthday treat whilst on a short break in the Lakes. Good menu options, including for a gluten intolerant member of our family, really nice food served in very hearty portions, great service and a nice country pub ambience even though only a very short walk from town. Two pieces of advice to pass on; 1. pre-book rather than risk it on spec as the pub/restaurant were deservedly packed 2. make your mind up whether you prefer a starter or a dessert as you would need a really healthy appetite to finish three courses here! Many thanks to all for a great dinner and a lovely experience.

Lovely pub which served excellent food. Menu choice good despite a couple of choices off the menu. Food hot and plentiful,service excellent. Caters for clients who have food allergies. Well worth a visit,we will be back.

The pie and chips with seasonal veg was all fantastic, we eat the lot, yum yum, would Defford go again
