We had a lovely afternoon tea. Highly recommended.

We got an afternoon tea voucher and I contacted the hotel to enquire as to whether they would be able to cater for my coeliac daughter. The reply was yes (which I wasn’t expecting especially as it was a voucher) When we got there, the lady who greeted us with her beautiful smile said she understood that coeliac was a “celery allergy” - oh no! My heart sank but she quickly corrected herself. I was dubious then wondering what was going to be served to my daughter (she is only 10 & was really excited for this!) and honestly, I cannot fault the food, the service, the atmosphere - absolutely everything was just brilliant. Thank you so much for our treat, we have posted reviews on the coeliac Facebook pages that I am on so I hope you get lots more business from a very happy mama!!

Lovely hotel. Used a voucher to take four of us out for afternoon tea. Very well presented. We each had large individual teapots. Really good sandwiches, very tasty. The scones were excellent and served warm. The cakes were a lovely selection, especially the Bakewell tart and lemon sponge. The room was small, quiet and intimate.

My husband and I attended for an Afternoon tea courtesy of a Groupon Offer... The room was beautiful... The female waitress couldn't do enough for us... The food was excellent... Very fresh and lots of it... It was our wedding anniversary treat and it was excellent... The grounds were well maintained... It was a fabulous day... Thanks for making it a *Special and Memorable Day"...

Although we have been to an evening wedding reception in the past last Monday was the first time that we had been for afternoon tea. We were not disappointed and enjoyed an excellent selection of sandwiches, cakes and the homemade scones with clotted cream and jam were to die for and we asked the staff to mention this to the kitchen staff. We will definitely be back again and being only 10 minutes away from a restaurant in such a lovely setting is a bonus.

Absolutely brilliant place with beautiful grounds. Been for afternoon tea 3 or 4 times and never been disappointed. Will definitely be going again, the staff are friendly and service excellent. A visit is highly recommended.

Such a lovely setting in a traditional English hotel with beautiful gardens. The dining room we were in was perfectly dressed with crisp white linen and bone china for our delicious afternoon tea. We were served by a lovely young lady who was very attentive and pleasant. The afternoon tea was delicious with well filled sandwiches, great cakes and really lovely warm scones. Overall a really pleasant afternoon with my mum. Well done Mere Court, I would certainly return.

What a great place to celebrate my friend’s birthday! All 6 of us really enjoyed ourselves. Great venue, great price for high tea and good service! Full marks for the staff especially Sam. Thank you for making this a memorable birthday celebration and get together. We will definitely come again.

We celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversay with a meal at Mere Court having had our wedding reception here. The young guy that served us was friendly and attentive. We ordered a bottle of wine but had to ask for a clean glass, one of the ones that we were given was filthy! The starters were lovely. The mains were a little disapointing, the pork fillet was supposed to be served with pancetta, they must have run out as there was none on the plate, the beef was a little dry. My husband had the chocolate cake for desert which he enjoyed. I ordered the cheese, the cheese itself was nice however it was served with very dried out celery sticks and grapes that were past their best and truning brown. The music in the dining room wasnt really what youd expect from the setting and really didnt help to create a nice ambience. We overheard a lady on another table complain about her main course too. Maybe it was just a bad day for the kitchen!!
