Frozen Mop – Knutsford
Knutsford the popular Cheshire town is within easy commuting distance of both Manchester and Liverpool and is famous for the Georgian Mansion - Tatton Park, which hosts the RHS Flower Show. Many upmarket restaurants in Knutsford are located on King Street and the surrouding roads
My family and I enjoyed an delicous meal last night at the Frozen Mop the staff were excellent.
Frozen Mop – KnutsfordMy wife & I were looking forward to eating at the Dun Cow in view of the good reviews we had read and the award it received in 2011, but in the event we were very disappointed. The atmosphere was good, the staff courteous and attentive. However, although the menu was good and the food well presented, there was a fundamental error in that the plates were barely warm and the food including the soup were lukewarm which severely compromised the whole eating experience. Also we should have been asked if everything was OK during the main course, not waiting until we had finished. One other strange occurrence concerned the cleaning and polishing of the very large table which took an inordinate length of time and consumed much energy by the young waiter. Is the table a valuable antiques for so much love to be dedicated to it? If another award is to be gained in 2012, then attention must be paid to the temperature of the food and plates, and enquiries made if everything is OK during the main course.
Dun Cow – KnutsfordOver the years I have eaten at The Church Inn numerous times and always enjoyed, but my last experience (1st Oct, 2011) was terrible. The starter of mussels was was not too bad in all honesty, but the main course of Scampi was terrible and vastly overpriced at 10.50 GBP. It actually came in a basket (I thought that this was now illegal) on a plate. No vegetables or salad of any description and the Scampi should not have been called Scampi in my opinion. In case there are any questions about my authenticity this is my first review of any restaurant on any website at any time.
The Church Inn – KnutsfordThis is a beautiful place with great charm and atmosphere. Fantastic food. A rare find and well worth discovering.
Bells Of Peover – KnutsfordWe go to Gusto every two weeks to meet up with our friends and this restaurant never failed to satisfy our needs. Service is always spot on and the food just delicious.
Gusto – KnutsfordCelebrated my 17th wedding anniversary at Gusto. Lobster was divine and the rest of the food excellent. Service good. Very lively and busy place, will go again.
Gusto – KnutsfordBeautiful unspoilt country pub! Had an excellent lunch, welcoming staff and had a lovely bottle of red!
The Church Inn – KnutsfordWhat a refreshing change; excellent service, imaginative food and sophisticated atmosphere. Thank You
Man Zen – Knutsfordthis was recommended by someone we spoke to in a Knutsford car park , we had been to the Tatton Park flower show and were unfamiliar with the area, and needed to eat! This restaurant ticked every box. The staff were great, lots of smiles, the service was great, the interior was fascinating to look at , and best of all the food was tremendous!! I don't usually get into reviews but this was one I couldn't pass by. We live in Northumberland by the way but already I have passed on details of Mae Gaew -- just in case anyone is passing --- . A five star experience!
Mae Gaew Thai Restaurant – KnutsfordGreat venue, great food and great service - for a pub. Very family orientated and outside dining always a plus in the summer. Get there early, especially at weekends, to avoid disappointment. The only downside would be that service can be slow, mainly for the reason above, but with young children it can lead to frustration all round!
Plough and Flail Inn The – KnutsfordStay away.Food lacks flavour, portions are child sized, menu descriptions inaccurate, service slow and all grossly overpriced, when related to the quality Complaints are not accepted and left unresolved by disinterested management. Pub has a reputation locally for barring complainers so beware..
The Legh Arms – KnutsfordI first visited Gusto as part of a party from work and I loved the vibrancy and the atmosphere, even on a Tuesday night the restaurant has a buzz about it. Whether your with a big party or just a table of 2 I have always found the service to be great and the food very tasty... My favourite is the flat rump steak but I always save room for the Tiramisu its the best around
Gusto – KnutsfordNOT HAPPY I reserved a for 10 at this restaurant for my birthday celebrations, 1 week prior to the booking, I confirmed this the day before. When we arrived they showed us to a table for 4, i explained that we had booked for 10 but there were 9 of us. The maitre d (who was very causally dressed in jean and t'shirt!!) did not apologise but said that of we could wait he would get a table, he did say that his staff had never made a mistake and was quite rude throughout. Eventually we got a table for 8 but they could not provided us with another chair and we were told that we 'should be lucky we got a table', they expected the 9th quest to stand!!! We left the restaurant due to the maitre d's shocking attitude and had a lovely meal in Shamoli just down the road who fitted us in and were lovely and the birthday night was not runined.. Never got to taste the food here!!!!
Mughli Restaurant – KnutsfordI recommend you go somewhere else. The food is mediocre and the service is appalling. The staff can barely smile and act as if they are doing you a favor. The few staff that were pleasant were hopeless. The manager was rude to the point of hostile. How he can work in the hospitality industry is baffling. It was a shockingly bad experience. NEVER AGAIN
Plough and Flail Inn The – KnutsfordThe Dun Cow has recently been taken over by new management in July 2009. My husband and I expected good things as the same team and chef catered our wedding this year and all our guests raved about the food. We ate in the restaurant last night and the food was amazing. The quality, presentation and attention to detail made us feel like we were in a top restaurant, not a country pub. The staff were very friendly and the atmosphere is nice and relaxed. The setting is a traditional, cosy pub, but the food is by no means pub grub - superb! We can't wait to go again and take our friends and family. Good work Barry and Marc.
Dun Cow – KnutsfordThe chef has left this restaurant and can't you tell. David Mooney who has built a great reputation for this restaurant is no longer behind the stove at the Belle Epoque and I think you can tell both in the quality of the food and in the attitude of the staff. Not a good dining experience.
Belle Epoque – KnutsfordHow nice to see this lovely pub sympathetically refurbished after years in the doldrums. The new tenants have created a warm and friendly atmosphere, with the promise of open fires in the winter. The Robinson's beer is well kept and there's a decent, although short, wine list. But I suspect it will be the food that makes the Dun Cow's reputation. It is simply exquisite - none better in the whole of Cheshire! I would recommend you visit and see for yourselves.
Dun Cow – KnutsfordMy partner and I travelled by train from Manchester to have lunch on 11/09/2009. The pub was clean, cosy and nicely set out. The staff were friendly and attentive without being over the top. We ordered from the 2 course Market fresh menu. My partner ordered the Aberdeen Angus steak burger which he said "was really nice and meaty" the accompanying salsa was lovely as I couldn't resist a taste. I ordered the fish cakes, with Cheshire potatoes and salad. Very fresh and tasty and a nice change from the usual "chips with everything" For dessert I tucked into the apple and plum lattice ordered with lovely ice-cream whilst my partner satisfied his sweet tooth with the strawberries, meringue and cream. He washed this down with a pint of Dizzy Blonde and Tit for Tat (Robinson's), which he says were equally good. Satisfied we headed for the train home. Definitely worth a try!
