I had the pigeon breast starter which was overcooked and tough and my wife had the whipped burrata which was light and pleasant. For mains my wife had Plaice fillet with shrimp dressing which she enjoyed very much. I had the chicken supreme with mushroom cream which I thought was superb. The chicken breast was so succulent and tasty and all washed down with a lovely Sauvignon Blanc. For dessert we shared a cheese board and a glass of port. Overall, very satisfied with the meal and it was also good value. Unfortunately, the piped music tried to ruin our evening, being too loud and of dubious quality. (Breakfast was also ruined by the same intrusive and inescapable dross coming through the speakers throughout the public spaces)

3rd visit for afternoon tea. This time it was extremely disappointing and we wont be returning. Once seated and tea/coffee brought to the table we were just ignored.No one asked if we were ok or if we would like anything more We had to get up twice to find someone. There was absolutely no service which spoilt the visit. The lady on reception was very nice and helpful..Ive seen other reviews of a similar experience so there must be something amiss..The afternoon tea was OK,apart from the carrot cake which was pretty awful..What a shame as its a great location...I did contact them a few days later but am still waiting ..Very disappointing

Daughters first time for afternoon tea and staff made her feel very special and enjoyable experience. Food was excellent and even brought some home. Thank you for making my daughter experience a happy one and would definitely recommend for everyone wanting to take their children for something special. Would book again.

Had a lovely Afternoon tea cakes sandwiches and scones were delicious and the service and staff were lovely I can highly recommend.

We booked afternoon tea for my daughter's birthday after celebrating her joyous wedding at the Mere Court 2 years ago. As then, the staff were courteous and helpful and couldn't do enough for us. The food was truly lovely, as it was at the wedding celebrations. Well done to all the staff at the Mere Court, we will definitely be returning.

This is my 3rd visit for afternoon tea but in a different room this time, usually we wait for someone to take us to are seats, but this time we were told to go to the bar and turn right, and there we stood waiting for somebody to appear and people were in there having afternoon tea, then a man came asked if we are being helped I said no, he pointed to a table and asked if we wanted tea or coffee, tea was brought to the table and then our afternoon tea and at no time did anyone ask if we have any allergies which I have a nut allergy, and normally my cakes are on a separate plate we managed to get a young man who was cleaning up to ask for more tea, I felt like we where the last ones in and and just left to get on with it, none of the cakes were eaten and put in a tub to take home and I gave them to someone else to eat, who said that the almond/bakewell was soggy and the macaroons were very soft , we even had to go looking for someone for the bill. As this was a valentine's weekend very disappointed.

Visited recently for Afternoon Tea - lovely venue, fabulous staff and fantastic food - would definitely recommend if you are looking for somewhere special to celebrate an event - great value for money!

We were pleasantly surprised. The hotel was cosy and friendly. The afternoon tea was nice, especially the Bakewell slice.

My husband and I both enjoyed sparkling afternoon tea on new years eve afternoon. The hotel is very quaint and it's like stepping back in time it was nicely decorated for Christmas. We had a window seat which overlooked the front drive and the garden's which look amazing, it was a shame it was raining as we would have liked to have a look around them. The afternoon tea was lovely not overwhelming but enough to make you feel satisfied. We liked the mismatched China cups,saucers and side plates which went well with the white linen table cloths. Our first visit to this hotel but certainly won't be our last. Thank you and a happy new year to you all.

I have been coming to Mere Court for years and have enjoyed afternoon tea with many friends and family. It is a beautiful place with peaceful surroundings and that old fashioned calming ambiance. The afternoon tea is a selection of freshly made sandwiches and cakes as well as scones with jam and cream. The choice of tea or coffee is available and all is served on beautiful mismatched china to complement the surroundings. The staff are amazing and very attentive! Maria knows us so well now! I adore this place and will continue to be a regular here x

We have been to two Murder Mystery nights and have enjoyed a lovely meal, built new friendships and loved the actors who performed on the night! The food was great as was the camaraderie between everyone who attended! A great night was had by all! We will be back

A lovely Christmas themed afternoon tea. Great staff very accommodating and the right amount of privacy.
