Just to let you know I enjoyed a first class meal at Penny Street Bridge in Lancaster recently. The staff were great, friendly and well informed about the choices available from the menu.Better still they have fantastic bedrooms upstairs. What a place

Toll House Inn – Lancaster

It is a lovely restaurant but I have been 5 or so times and I always feel the service is poor. When they brought out the wrong main meal instead of "sorry sir we shall correct it but it may be 10 minutes" we were told "no that is what you ordered" and they refused to bring the correct dish. We only now eat here when we cannot get in at the Fortune Star.

The best Chinese in Lancaster. The food is excellent and the service is the best around. I admit the restaurant isn't the most pleasing to the eye and it can be quite loud as it is a small value, but it is fantastic for a group and still great for a couple.

I have eaten here several times and I love the atmosphere of the place. Service is quite relaxed and maybe a little slow but it is by no means bad. The menu is a little limited but the food is fairly good.

The Borough – Lancaster

The surroundings are very nice and inviting. However the restaurant is let down by a limited menu and extremely slow service. Although the food was good we waited just over one and a half hours to get our mains.

Quite Simply French – Lancaster

The restaurant was a lot larger than i expected and same can be said of the menu. The friendly staff were on hand to help and the service was outstanding. Although the staff were extremely busy, they still managed to make us feel welcome. I would recommend booking, as the place is popular and always seems to be full. I will be returning soon to try something new.

Spaghetti House Restaurant – Lancaster

The thing that makes this restaurant is the charismatic owner. He is not only the genial host but oversees the kitchen too. He is passionate about Sicilian food and drink. It was very interesting to see his collection of herbs collected from the mountain by his summer house in Sicily. His wine cellar was a labour of love too! I had a gorgeous dish of aubergine, ham, and mozzarella with an unusual sicilan pasta. I guess the proof of the quality of Etna is the fact that its the oldest restaurant in Lancaster opening its doors in 1975 and still with the same man at the helm!! A must when in town.

After eating at the highly acclaimed Lancaster house hotel for lunch with friends, I stumbled across the greyhound hotel in Halton. The food was far superior and obviously more carefully prepared at the latter. If anyone lives anywhere near this treasure of a local pub,I strongly recommend that they sample the simple but perfectly executed menu. Home-made burgers are sheer perfection!

After searching for a place to eat in the area, I stumbled across the excellent website and it looked like the place for me. The place was friendly and the atmosphere relaxing. I ordered the jumbo haddock and chips and wow it was enormous, barely fitting on the plate, and the chips were awesome - nice and chunky. Overall I had a great meal in a beautiful location

Visited here a few times and have been impressed each time. The evening meals are fantastic as are the lunchtime meals and ice cream. Plentiful portions and home made chips that have to be seen to be believed. The cost of the evening meals was approx. £40 for two people (2 courses and drinks) which I thought was outstanding for the quality of food.

The Pudding House at Wallings Farm – Lancaster

from ordering to service took approx 10 mins the food when it arrived was excellent i would highly recommend dining here. i now have been there three times in the last two weeks and am still as pleased as the first time my and i went excellent *****

The Cross Keys – Lancaster

We have enjoyed the wonderful atmosphere of Etna for nearly 30 years. We now live in Canada but we always find time to visit when we go back to the UK. Dominic greets us like long lost friends & we always have stuffed mushrooms & lasagne & it's still the best we've tasted anywhere, especially washed down with the house red.

I cannot fault the service no matter how big or small the size of the party I dine with. The food is always consistently good and the happy hour is amazing value for money. The menu is so varied and someone would be hard pushed not to find something they would like.

Spaghetti House Restaurant – Lancaster

I have been visiting the spaghetti house for the past 7 years and find the service to be one of the best around. The staff make us feel extremely welcome and cannot do enough for us. I have never had a bad meal their and if anything my only fault would be that the portions are to generous. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it and have taken friends there on many occasions.

I'm afraid I can't comment on much else as we did not stay long enough. We were kept waiting for 15 minutes past our booking time without being offered drinks, then told we'd have to hurry when ordering our food as they had lots of tables coming in. The waiter argued with us and the manager told us to leave without hearing our side, absolutely disgusting treatment.

This is a very quaint little restaurant that has a very varied menu that caters for not only the meat and fish eaters but also for vegetarians offering alternatives such as mushroom stroganoff. It has subdued lighting which makes it a very cosy and romantic little venue if you want it to be. The excellent food and friendly service makes it ideal for any celebration such as birthdays. There is a small seating area outside the restaurant which caters for the smokers. At first glance the menu appears pricey. However, be careful when ordering side dishes as they can be quite large portions!! On my first visit we ordered a few side orders and ended up with a banquet that could have fed four!! If you are going on a romantic date, or a special anniversary dinner I would whole heartedly recommend this restaurant. May be advisable to book and check closing times as they dont open very late. Also check out their early bird diners offer. Ive never been for an early tea but there are some good deals if you want to try it out.

I do not have words enough to express how much I love this place. From the outside the Bay Horse looks like a charming, quaint pub. Inside though it is cozy, welcoming and immaculate. The bar staff are very friendly and show you to your table immediately. Me and my fiance went on a Sunday and were given their Sunday menu. We were not disappointed. For starters I opted for the smoked goosnargh duck caesar salad- delicious, and my fiance had the black pudding. We both had the locally reared roast beef with all the trimmings and it was absolutely delicious. Everything arrived at our table looking amazing and most of the produce was sourced from Lancashire, which I loved. I cannot recommend this place enough... go!
