Delicious food. Excellent service. Really good beer. What more could we ask? Great to have a “proper” food pub back in the village.

Very good food, the staff needs help/training. The food was great, it tasted fresh and delicious. We booked a table and were sat right at our booking time. 5 minutes later they came by and told us to move to another table because they had a big group coming in. After they moved us it took several attempts to get any service, even putting in a food order. Also the grill was broken at our table. It kept shutting off and only the very center worked causing our food to take an extremely long time to cook. Also, they table we were moved to was a really cold spot in the restaurant, we had to put our coats back on.

Our first time at Vine, we had just moved house and this is now our local restaurant and what a restaurant it is. We decided to go for the sharing platter of lobster and steak, it was not until we ordered that I saw a little tank full of lobsters which I learned that I had created a demise for one of these creatures but boy was it worth it. Starters were incredible, we had goats cheese and scallops to start and they were beautifully presented and really well designed to take full advantage of the plethora of tastes from both items. The main course then arrived presented amazingly again, this was my first time eating lobster and it tasted wonderful with a great sweet taste, the steak was cooked to perfection and just melted in your mouth. Mac and cheese was phenomenal and chips tasted so good! The decor was fantastic with an old style subway decor and the server was fantastic and very attentive. Overall a great experience and we will 100% be going back.

Lovely food. Lovely staff and friendly. Recommend garlic mushrooms and deep fried courgettes 4 starters.... De-liccc-i-ous Just a tad chilly... Heating system issues. Will visit again though but will check heating is working!!

Sharing Seafood Platter, absolutely delightful, so fresh, well presented, a real feast for shellfish lovers. Bottle of Picpoul De Pinet & hot ciabatta rolls, ...superb! Staff attentive & lovely, great night.

The food was nothing to write home about, but the staff were lovely and friendly, and service was efficient. My husband is a Coeliac and they catered very well for him.

Had a lovely meal with friends on Wednesday. Can recommend the smoked mackerel pate, the chicken ballotine, and the fish cakes. The meat dishes - lamb or beef are simply done but well cooked . Everything is nicely presented. My third visit in recent weeks and the food has been great on each occasion. Great to see the pub so well supported mid-week.

I’ve been here a couple of times the food is amazing and the service is great. If you want great sushi and authentic Japanese food this is the place to be!!

Great cookery - very well balanced dishes and they were delicious - top marks there. Few small suggestions - offer a drink at the bar rather than walking guests straight to table - and be a bit more attentive if a guest chooses to sit in a seat where you haven’t placed the cutlery. I wish this place all the best because the cookery is sublime. If you live near Horsforth - visit and support!

Recently visited for a family birthday meal as this is always my favourite go-to restaurant when in Whitby. As always, it never disappoints. Fantastic choice of dishes to suit most tastes with a great value two or three course winter menu. All of our food was cooked to perfection and although we were a large family group, everything was served on time with no hassle by Magpie’s lovely, friendly staff. Their long-standing reputation for quality and service is undeniably deserved.

Even though we booked a table for 5 people when we arrived we were squashed onto a table for 4. The food was ok but not the usual standard, portions seemed smaller, the onions in the mussel licker were still raw and the cheese sauce on the fish was tasteless. This used to be a real treat for our family but I don’t think we would rush back.

This is a gem of a small restaurant that deserves to be patronised more. The food is absolutely delicious! Easy parking on the streets around about or it's walking distance for anyone in Meanwood, Headingley or Weetwood. Highly recommended.

We’ve been visiting The Magpie since our honeymoon in October 1990 and have never been disappointed. Last night was no exception. The food was as good as ever and the staff were as friendly and helpful as always.
