Magpie Cafe – WhitbyMy partner and I recently visited Whitby and visited on our first evening. We had such an excellent experience, we returned twice more during our short stay. The quality of the fish and seafood was excellent and it was perfectly cooked and presented. We had a different selection each evening, including traditional cod and chips, their sharing platter of chilled fish and seafood and the “Magpie Medley” of pan-fried halibut, salmon and King Prawns, accompanied by their own potato hash and an excellent creamy garlic sauce. My partner enjoyed Lindisfarne Oysters as a starter - once on ice with lemon wedges and Tabasco and once grilled with garlic butter and scally onions, whilst I had a tasty and excellent Whitby Crab Bisque. We accompanied our food with a very reasonable Pinot Grigio. The welcome we received was first rate (including one evening when various mishaps caused us to turn up 40 minutes early!). The service was both friendly and efficient, making us feel that we were truly valued customers. The restaurant was well patronised each time we were there - another witness to its excellent food and service. We will certainly return again when we are back in Whitby.
