The Hunsworth Brewers Fayre – CleckheatonExcellent steaks - especially the rib eye - probably best in North Yorkshire. Couldn't recommend it more. Great Yorkshire hospitality too! Not too pricey.
Blackwell Ox Inn – YorkAbsolutely the best fish and chips in the world - eaten there when I lived in Wales, then Leeds, Newcastle and now York. Best time to eat is early on - around 12 noon - if you go later it gets less consistent. Might be a bit pricey but the portions are large! Would recommend it thoroughly!
Magpie Cafe – Whitbyfabulous restaurant really lightened up my evening wiv ma m8z i recommend people should try this restaurant owt as they have delicious food and extremely friendly caring staff.
Anams Restaurant – Bradford24th December 2007 This is the second time we have dined at the Frenchgate restaurant while visiting Richmond and the food is a feast for the eyes and taste buds. Excellent is a superlative overused and rarely deserved but in terms of this establishment a grade "A" or "A star" does not do it justice. Menu - inventive and interesting. Presentation - works of art. Service - impeccable. Knowledge - impressive. Extensive wine list!! Value for money - Wow. If this restaurant was in the south the meal would cost a fortune. A faultless experience where nothing is too much trouble and the staff and owner are warm and friendly.
Frenchgate Restaurant and Hotel – RichmondGreat food, all homemade and hearty potions. I had homemade Black Bull Steak Pie, cracking! just lovely, my wife had a roast dinner pork & crackling I think. Smashing place, we have now booked every Sunday for our family meal, good prices too! No longer part of the Brewers Fayre chain, private owners now called Black Bull Fayre. Cute touch
Black Bull – WakefieldLovely food, we used to come but the food and service was poor, new owners have turned the place around very very quickly. We ate from the senior citizens menu, lovely scampi & chips, my wife went for fresh fish & chips, it even came with bread & butter! Lovely food, lovely service!
Black Bull – Wakefieldwent for Sunday lunch with family, had a mixture of dishes from their Sunday roast menu and the standard menu. I had a roast meat sharing platter for 4 people! amazing value beef, turkey and pork with crackling! Food lovely, one of the best roast beef dinners I've had in a long time. Kids loved it too. Reasonable prices and great food. New owners running the place much much better. Service great too. Big car park helps too. Couldn't fault the place.
Black Bull – WakefieldWORST & RUDEST SERVICE I HAVE EVER RECEIVED AFTER BOOKING A TABLE THEN SITTING DOWN AN HOUR LATER WITH THE MANAGER SAYING "ITS JUST ONE OF THOSE THINGS". SHOCKING & ARROGANT! MY FRIENDS AND I WONT BE PAYING ANOTHER VISIT ANYTIME SOON!
The Original Dilraj – BarnsleyFriendly locals pub, serves good value home cooked meals. Nice place for a decent beer and good pub food, not too far out of city centre. Also has letting bedrooms, fairly basic but really good value for money! If you need a cheap bed in York this is the place!
Edinburgh Arms – YorkFirst class food and service with friendly staff and excellent wines. I can recommend both the restaurant and Bistro and bar meals to.
Dudley Arms – StokesleyWe just called in on the off chance last Saturday passed it many times but never called in anyway its a fantastic restaurant ambiance food and service excellent a most enjoyable evening would certainly go back.
Viva – Leeds City CentreThis pub is now under new ownership (January 2007) and with it comes a new chef and a more upmarket menu. The food was well prepared and presented. There was five kinds of vegetables and all perfectly cooked ie neither over- nor under-done. Phew! I had the chicken in tarragon sauce and found the chicken succulent, plentiful and the sauce just right. The chef has a good understanding of roast potatoes! My partner had the lamb which was tasty and tender in good gravy with fine mash. We didn't have any puddings but the people on the next table were very happy with their Yorkshire Parkin and Custard and Apple Crumble and Cream. It's a great relief to us to have a restaurant in the village which cares about the food. Service was attentive and we enjoyed the mulled wine. While we didn't have any "real" wine on this occasion, the overall impression inspired confidence so I'd guess care has gone into the selection of wines too. The main courses were between £8 - £13 but mainly eight or nine pounds and we felt the meal was very good value for money. They also offer light lunches.
White Lion Hotel – KeighleyWe visit Aldos weekly and always have a very enjoyable time. Aldos is lively with a fantastic atmosphere. The staff are extremely friendly, the food is fabulous and caters for all tastes.Prices are reasonable and we strongly recommend you visit.
Aldo’s Pizzeria – CleckheatonWe referred to AA Guide’s and several Internet sites before booking to stay at The Bruce Arms, West Tanfield, Yorkshire, on Saturday 5th January ’08, attracted by the pub being owned by a renowned chef and every comment praising the food as some of the best ever tasted. The landlady greeted us with “your early! I’ve got a shooting party arriving shortly!”, we immediately felt unwelcome. The Bruce is under new management. The present owners have two cats, which they feed on the stairs up to the accommodation, so they are littered with cat food and bowls. The stairs and landing stink of dog and cat faeces and urine, sufficient to make you feel sick! There was also a pair of dirty boxer shorts left on the stairs! Our bedroom was clean and tidy, had it been elsewhere we would have happily stayed. Unfortunately it was next to the family lounge and small children appeared to be left unattended as the landlord worked in the kitchen and the landlady was behind the bar. The children were noisy and ran around banging doors, making it impossible to relax. The stench from the staircase wafted into the bedroom. If this standard of hygiene was acceptable to the Landlord/Lady, it certainly was not to us. We could not stay in the room and had no wish to eat in this establishment, so we left. We decided to stay at the Stavely Arms, 2 miles from the Bruce in North Stainley. It was wonderful, with Mike and Elaine being the perfect hosts, the food fantastic and the accommodation being exceptional (£59 for B&B with the most comfortable kingsize bed!)
Bruce Arms – RiponThis restaurant is consistently considered as one of the best Italians around. Every meal I have had here was excellent. I have never had a mediocre dish yet. Last night I had their ravioli with dolcette and pear filling - what a good dish. There are always new dishes and old standards available. The service is friendly and the customer is made to feel special.
Luigis – HarrogateDid eat here and found the place disappointing. The service was very amateur and the menu was very basic. I would have thought a hotel restaurant like this would have at least been a bit more fine dining than the expensive cafe it was.
Corn Mill Lodge Hotel and Restaurant – HorsforthGreat pub food! just taken over by new owners so expect great things from this place in the coming weeks. Good menu changes already including really great steak & chips cooked to perfection and excellent fish & chips. Lovely place nice and cosy
