We have always loved Salute for the ambiance, food and service with a smile but after dinning at Salute's on Thursday the 30/04/2015 we were left a little disappointed with the taste of the food. The sauces were very bland and oily/greasy something we had never experienced before so we questioned the staff about this who were very polite and listened to everything we had to say. Apparently the Chef has changed and this has obviously contributed to the differences. Although it was edible we didn't think it was as nice as the original menu. We will be trying it again in the future and hope this can be sorted as we do like the overall dining experience. Brenda & Sid

I took my partner to Salute at Rothwell this afternoon for lunch. The service was excellent, but the filled baguettes we ordered came to our table 15 minutes after we placed our order, and were clearly under baked and doughy, to the extent that we were unable to eat them. When we drew the waitress' attention to this, she offered to have them replaced, but we were pushed for time and were unable to wait for a replacement. Our message back from the kitchen was 'sorry, but no refund'. In my view, our order shouldn't have left the kitchen in that condition, particularly as it took 15 minutes to prepare what were, in effect, sandwiches.. We will not be eating there again.

Lat night was my Hen do at Salute, have to say had a brilliant time with my family & friends. We had prebooked a buffet and champagne reception, the food was fantastic & the service was outstanding. They were very attentive with everything we required & couldn't do enough for us. I had a very memorable night in perfect surroundings, i would gladly book another party or occasion at Salute just for the mere fact you know you're in good hands & can just sit back with a glass of wine & enjoy your night.

We usually visit Salute during the week at lunch time when there is a lunch express menu, one with a fabulous selection of paninis and bagettes. All are very reasonably priced. Today we were served by Matthew and he was a lovely young man. I think all the girls at my table fell in love with his cheeky smile!! Would definitely recommend Salute for any occasion, but particularly at lunch times whilst on your break at work !!

My partner and I have visited Salute for getting on for five years or so. We love the place. Its wonderful to have a restaurant outside the city with class, very friendly service and fantastic food. The staff are always very welcoming and friendly, offering good suggestions if you cannot decide from the delicious menu! The food is wonderful; whether you have a full three course meal, or are just popping in for a light bite after work, you will not be disappointed. I love the fact they can provide you a smaller portion of mains if you cannot fit it all in. I would say though, if you cannot finish your meal, do get a doggy bag as you will regret not being able to finish it! Fantastic guys, don't stop what you are doing!

Fantastic restaurant with great good, great wine and first class service. Kids are made welcome with great priced high quality kids meals. My family have been going for years. I find the prices very reasonable for the quality of the food. There's a deal to be had if you're wanting one or a lovely a la carte option too. It's fantastic to have such a high quality, family friendly restaurant in a local area.

We've eaten here on several occasions it's so convenient living just round the corner. The food is excellent and the atmosphere is always welcoming, whether your looking for a romantic meal for two or a family get together it's the perfect venue. Would definitely recommend Salute!

Great Staff, great selection of modern Italian classics and specials are fantastic. Price in comparison to city centre dinning is reasonable given the portion size, wine prices and no time limits on tables. I love this place and you will too!

Great place to eat out, nice menu to choose from & have great offer & lovely relax place to enjoy.

As usual we visited Salute and thoroughly enjoyed it. A last minute decision on a Friday evening we turned up at 6pm with no reservation and they didn't hesitate to accommodate us and makes us feel very welcome as usual. The food was delicious, the service was excellent with Justine even coming over for a chat. You can't get a better local restaurant than Salute!

l was taken here for my birthday by my brother and sister in law, what a treat , amazing is the only word to use. the food . the service . everything was wonderful

we visited salute in January 2012 our view was over priced mediocre food watch out for the service charge on your bill !! wont be visiting again and we wont recommend this to anyone.

Me and my partner visited salute a few Sundays ago, it wasn't too late about 8.30. We had a drink and was shown to our table , there were quite a few in the bar area and a few in the restaurant finishing of there meals. we ordered our meals and while we were eating , the waitresses were clearing up round us the kitchen staff were going home , bearing in mind it was only 9.15 by this time. I asked the waitress what time did you close she asked the woman who owns it , who was stood at the bar with her bag ready to go , and didnt get an answer,. We felt very uncomfortable as if they wanted us to go we still had a large glass of red left, after we finished the meal, but felt we had to rush it because they wanted us out, then the music went off and the waitress were getting there coats on. We decided to leave and wait for our taxi outside as soon as we left they locked the doors. Will never return to this restaurant again the owner is a very rude woman

Service charge not acceptable to many people who are regular visitors to Salute. All my friends tip well on nights out but object to the amount being decided by the management. at Salute. Other Italians in Wakefield give excellent service and leave the tip to be decided by the customer not the establishment.

We had our Son's Christening reception at Salute today. The food was delicious and the staff were great. An 10% OPTIONAL service charge is added to the bill and in our case, this was an extra £50 on top of our bill. The food was nice, but not worth a £50 tip. I approached the Owner, Justine and asked for the service charge to be removed from the bill as our guests were going to leave their own tips. I was confronted with an abrupt 'I'd rather not remove it' and when I stated that their menu said that it was optional anyway, her response was that it only says optional as they are required by law to say optional and that we should pay the £50 on the bill as our guests wouldn't leave a £50 tip. Having spent £500 on food and another few hundred pounds on everyone's drinks, I do not expect to be treated like this - how dare a Manager speak to paying customers like this!!! Justine spoilt what had been a lovely day with her aggressive uncustomer friendly attitude. I can safely say that we will not be going back to Salute, as I do not want to give that rude woman another penny of my money!!!!!

We visited on a Friday evening, the restaurant was busy and had a good atmosphere, The food we had was first rate with courteous and efficient service, and it was worth paying the little bit extra. We will definitely be returning. However, along with other reviewers we were a bit miffed about the 10% (optional) service charge (on top of the now 20% VAT of course), we would prefer to leave or own tip as we see fit. However, it was a really enjoyable meal and night out.

Great food & very pleasant surroundings! Brilliantly combined pub & restaurant atmosphere! BUT!!! Please be aware.........THE STAFF DO NOT GET A PENNY OF THE SERVICE CHARGE ADDED TO YOUR FINAL BILL! So do what we did and have it removed, and if happy with the service leave a tip in cash on the table as most staff work for minimum wage.

Our first visit to Salute Bar, great ambience & liked the premises – unfortunately the food wasn’t as exciting and a few surprises were ahead – The Food - garlic bread tasteless, crab tagliatelle £9.95 bland could only taste the chilli, penne al forno was the better dish. The Surprises – diet coke was served in bottles (no draft) at £2.50 each!! far too expensive and our bill had a service charge of £5.00 added which we found very cheeky and wasn’t advertised as far as we could see. We usually leave a tip but find this type of billing very annoying. All in all, nice place & atmosphere, some friendly staff some a little curt, food well presented however bland, soft drink cost v expensive & service charge unnecessary. Doesn’t warrant such high prices I’m afraid. You can get better value for money at a number of other pasta & pizza restaurants around and about.
