The Mallard – ScunthorpeWe ordered a set of meals over the phone and called to collect. The food was appalling and vastly overpriced. One 12 inch hot dog with roll £7.99 no side salad or chips. Two burgers one was pink, tasted like cardboard. £36 for collection was ridiculous and doubt whether this will be a success in Grantham. No chips and sauce offered with main meals given. Whilst the manager was apologetic we will never use this place again.
Cowboy Broncos – GranthamOur usual party of six visited The Bengal Spice on Saturday 9th August. We were greeted politely and asked if we had booked. As we had not, we were told we would have to wait 20 minutes. This was not a problem so we said we would come back then. The response to this was that a table would be found in ten minutes and we were asked to sit in the reception area. Within three minutes we were being ushered to our table and at this point I thought that everything was being rushed. No sooner had we sat down than we were being asked to order drinks! We had not even had time to peruse the menu and asked for a few minutes to do so. Eventually things were sorted out at a slower pace and drinks and food were ordered. As is the norm with our group, everyone seems to order a different meal and I must admit that my choice of starter - the chicken patty - was rather poor, being very dry as if it had been laying around for a while. Everyone else was happy with their starters and the main meals were very acceptable. Overall opinion - staff generally polite and helpful, restaurant clean and tidy with pleasant decor, food reasonable. 7/10.The Curry Monster (On behalf of The Whitnash Curry Lovers)
Bengal Spice – BriggI have been a regular client of Ken's for at least 10 years and have always been happy with the food and the service, until tonight. We decided to order a quarter of duck plus a meal for 2 and exchanged one of the dishes for chicken satay noodles. The girl who took the order said it would be 5 minutes, 25 minutes later the food finally arrived - fast food it was not even though we were the only customer in the restaurant at the time. When I got home I discovered they had made a mistake as there was clearly no chicken satay noodles. I rang Ken's expecting as a loyal customer some kind of redress. Whilst the girl who took the order was extremely sorry, she had taken the order down incorrectly as chicken satay, not chicken satay noodles, but the management flatly refused to do anything about it. I am genuinely annoyed, I expected better of them, and as a result I shall probably not use Ken's again. There are plenty of other Chinese take-aways in Grantham and I intend to try them out.
Ken Chinese Restaurant and Takeaway – GranthamI should have mentioned in my previous review how professional , friendly and helpful the bar staff were, both to ourselves and to all other customers. What a pity they are so let down by the kitchen.
The Old Angel Inn – LincolnI today had lunch at this village pub and opted for sausage and mash with onion gravy at a cost of £6.95. The pub is situated opposite a first class butcher who makes the most excellent Lincolnshire sausage. It may well be my taste in food but I honestly believe that this was the worst meal I have ever eaten out. I would suspect that the food is purchased from a local cash and carry. The sausages I suspect were made from mechanically recovered meat and had very little taste. I don't believe the onion gravy had recently seen a fresh onion and would not be surprised if it was made from a powdered mix. Regrettably I could not recommend eating there but it was certainly a new experience if that is what you are looking for. Don't take my word for it, ask around.
The Old Angel Inn – LincolnWe have been to the four crossroads and it is brilliant they do a lovely meal.
The Four Cross Roads Inn – BostonAbsolutely 1st class .
The Wheatsheaf – GrimsbyHi Dave, just a message to say thank you. We all ENJOYED THE FOOD, and the drinks we had in your 5 STAR RESTAURANT. We have put the word around, so the puplic and friends can get the BEST. EXCELLENT FOOD. EXCELLENT STAFF. EXCELLENT SERVICE AND VERY VERY CLEAN.
Dave’s Restaurant – MablethorpeThat was probably the worst chinese meal we have ever had. Combo starter, coudn't find the meat through the fat on the ribs, when we did it was so chewy. £37 for a meal of utter yuk!!!!. We wont be back and won't recommend, too much salt and heaps of MSG.
Golden Boy Oriental Takeaway – HorncastleI've been to Thai Sabai quite a few times since it opened. It's not cheap, but the food is very nice. The last couple of times haven't been enjoyable though as we have been sat next to large groups of people and have been unable to hear each other speak. Have just come away tonight with a headache and feeling drained without having been able to speak to my dining companions. There were empty tables upstairs it turns out, very poor management by staff; won't be going again.
Thai Sabai – SleafordMe and my boyfriend love the restaurant! Always friendly , polite and helpful service and great food! Recommended to my friends and colleagues. All kind of meat - sea food, beef, pork, chicken or duck...all just amazing.
Ken Chinese Restaurant and Takeaway – GranthamWe had excellent food and very attentive staff , nice and clean . reasonably priced . highly recommended
Toto’s – SkegnessI have been in this pub 2 times on the way to my holiday ,and now going down from Leeds to Acre touring site ,around the 11th November and hope to spend more time in this pub. Thanks Robert.
Cheers Freehouse – SkegnessDo not go here. took them long enough to take our order let alone serve our food. Took well over an hour for our food to arrive with no warning or apology. One of our party left because it was taking that long and they refused to let me leave until I paid for his food, blocking me from leaving the restaurant for ten minutes whilst they ignored the rest of their grumpy customers. When the food arrived it was poor quality, incredibly mild (despite asking for medium/hot) and lacking any real flavour. I love Indian food and living in London often go to tooting which is the hidden home of curry. I can only recommend that you try everywhere to get a table before heading here.
The Bombay Restaurant – LincolnReally good top draw fish and chips. Clean premises, tasty food, friendly polite staff. Always go if I'm ever staying in the village. Live 12 miles away in the city of Lincoln and have in the past made the 24 mile round trip for there food!
Welbourne’s Fish and Chip Shop – LincolnClean comfortable venue, friendly welcome, excellent food well presented on the plate, at a reasonable price. I can heartily recommend the rump steak and the mixed grill.
Chameleon Music Bar & Steak House – GranthamI found this establishment to be a cosy and welcoming place. The staff are warm and courteous. The food is among the finest of its type that I've ever enjoyed and excellent value for money. I travelled 15 miles to reach Alford and the tea room ensured the journey wasn't wasted. I will be visiting regularly in the future.
