My favourite Caribbean restaurant. The Saltfish fritters are just magnificent and the Goat Curry fantastic. this is a must if you are in this part of town
Cottons EC1 – Citythe staff is so unorganized.. only 1 or two people work and the rest are useless
Ariana – Bayswater and PaddingtonThe sushi at Me Love Sushi is very good, there is a wide variety of types and fillings to choose from, all reasonably priced. You can also choose filling rice and noodle bowls and they also give you the choice of thick or thin noodles. I would recommend the beef noodles and for people feeling hungry the mixed tempura is excellent.
Me Love Sushi – North Londonfantastic restaurant, lovely food and very quirky!!
Buona Sera Jam – Chelsea and West BromptonSmall but cosy restaurant. Ideal for after-shopping binge on some delicious real home-cooked Caribbean food. Decor makes you feel like you're in the Caribbean with it's bamboo and painted palm trees. Excellent service. Ackee and saltfish washed down with delicious rum punch is to die for!
Bamboula Caribbean Restaurant – BrixtonNice location and perfect for a pre-theatre dinner. Got served quite quickly, had delicious Moroccan food and the whole family was happy. Very child friendly and they also do a lot of vegetarian food. We'll go there again!
Maison Touareg – SohoTo start with i would like to compliment Mr Jay Nambiar for a cosy Malabari place in the city. After the first experience of mediocre service but truly authentic food i decided to return back to Shilpa for the latter with some colleagues. We went in and were greeted by a smiling young man who escorted us to our table. We ordered two big bottles of beer and then a presentable elderly gentleman brought drinks to the table. He served one of them and went on the other end of the table with the second and as we had just begun to tell him that the beer was not for him but for somebody else, he just flew off the handle and started screaming that we ordered two beers and we were supposed to open our mouths and speak clearly. Could there have been a more welcoming way to start our lunch!!!! We ordered some food. The mussels were the most elastic things i had ever seen in my life,,,,,,,but i thought it happens and tried to inform the grumpy waiter to which he promptly replied that it was their style of cooking. That was not all ,we had to change our main course thrice because apparently their suppliers did not turn up. By this time we were really scared to complain as the looks we got from the senior waiter were quite frightening. Finally we ordered some payasam , only to hear that it was over and mind you we were the only table in the restaurant. Well i must compliment the services of the young waiter (whenever he had a chance to come to the table) and the food quality. Finally i must say to all you foodies that although the food is good, i would never dare to take anybody there for an outright insult.
Shilpa Restaurant – HammersmithVery Disapointed with this restaurant. The Web site promised great things and delivered nothing. Service was poor and the food was cold. The Menu did not feature anything as described on the website The only redeeming feature was the signiture chocolate pudding which was cooked to order and turned up exactly how it was described.
Bermondsey Kitchen – South LondonWe had a very memorable day/night at the Engineer. Right from the off it was spot on. On ordering that fine beer Erdinger the bar lady cooled our glasses. The restaurant was full but then a table was found for us. The service was quirky and friendly with great advice on food a wine choices, particularly Lydia. I had a seabass with Miso sauce, ginger and mash. I dont believe Ive ever had a better fish dish. We got back on the Erdinger after dinner and enjoyed the buzz of a busy and cool Primrose Hill pub. Seek it out!
The Engineer – Camden TownI enjoyed my dinner out at Feng Sushi. The quality of fish was nice, and the sushi was of a good quality - although slightly unremarkable. The location in Fulham was very small but clean and orderly. The staff was busy, mostly with take-away orders, but polite. It had a feeling of being not traditionally japanese and the staff and chef were unfamiliar with basic sushi. For example they had scallop sushi, so I asked for a scallop handroll. This seemed rather perplexing to them, and I worried when the sushi chef came out to ask if I would like teriyaki sauce on it. I explained how it was usually made (light japanese mayo, roe, and a little spice) you can also have fresh cucumber. The chef made them very well and I appreciated his time and effort. Higher quality than Yo Sushi, less expensive than Nobu, and overall very good, yet I am not rushing to go back. Dinner for two: sushi, tempura, sake: around GBP 70
Feng Sushi – South LondonGreat local Thai place. The picnic style tables make for a casual and fun atmosphere. The best value for a meal out in London. The starters are great, especially the dumplings and the mains delicious. Make sure to check out their daily specials. They also have nice vegetarian meals as well as curries and usual Thai dishes. A meal for two: starters, mains, wine - around GBP 30! Amazing. The wines are nothing offensive, but also not fabulous. This is a no frills place, but with easy location, fast/helpful service, good food, great value and an easy way to have a meal out. Don't be intimidated if the line is long (and even out the door). It generally moves quickly and often you can order a beer while you wait. If you are taking a date or lady there, two things to keep in mind: it can be loud, so this is not an intimate dinner. The other thing is that you sit on long benches. If she is in a skirt (especially a short one) this can prove difficult/revealing/humorous while trying to sit down for the meal.
Pepper Tree – ClaphamRecently went to Tart attending a friends do. What a great venue for a party ! Great intimate venue with a fantastic music system. Rumour has it its the same as Ministry of Sound. I loved the drinks. I am a vodka drinker and they had plenty of top shelf offerings but also the staff were great at recommending new flavours. Going to Tart for the food is worth it in itself. Especially a Tartini. Ever had liquid Lemon Merigue Pie in a glass ? or Bakewell Tart ? I think my tastebuds last wish would be for a Tiramisu Tartini ! The food is a mixture of tapas/finger food, full of flavour. I think I lost count of how many Nacho and Pork Belly servings my girlfriend had ! My preference was three helpings of the chicken kebabs that had a Caribbean twist ! The staff are helpful, very welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. I would highly recommend Tart, especially for a private hire events. We had to wait several weeks to get a booking at this venue. You get the glamorous surroundings all to yourself ! Lock the doors, turn the music up and swig back some cocktails. An after work beer, Tartini and kebab isnt out of the question though. You know what . . . . . I may just pop down there now. With the weather, its too good a chance to miss !
Tart – CityWatered cocktails, £3.00 for nice homemade chips, expecting a nice portion but only got about 5 in a tall glass? whats that about.. £2.00 for a can of coke, had a steak fajitas but plastic cheese and store bought guacamole. Long wait between starter and main and staff had poor understanding of English Avoid it, too expensive for what it is.
Desperados – IslingtonWhat is the first thing that comes to my mind when I think of the best Indian restaurant, situated seconds away from Hyde Park, offering a delicious and vast typical Indian cuisine, accompanied by a friendly and outstanding customer service, and for an affordable price? Answer: Curry Palace. There I always take SAAG PANEER, amazing dish made from spinach and cottage cheese(they have a long list of other vegetarian dishes...), for which they are the undisputed Masters. Also the Chef's Specials (Butter Chicken, Chicken Masala, Lamb Pasanda...), the Tandoori marinated dishes, Karahi dishes, Rices, Naan Breads and starters are simply extraordinary. Whatever you've ordered, you made the right decision. Besides the restaurant then, they have a Shisha corner. They also do Home delivery, and they are quite speedy, which is great during the week if you feel too tired from a long day of work. Try it, and you will start going there regularly...
Curry Palace – Bayswater and PaddingtonGood pub food - good atmosphere - live music - friendly management - fair prices - decent ale choice -decent crowd - try the sunday lunch
Albion, The – West LondonSan Miguels what more can i say Kids welcome food is outstanding and service very efficient also good for a late bite with live music as entertainment.
San Miguels – Bayswater and PaddingtonMy wife and I love the place! The food is fantastic, cooked on a charcoal grill(try the quail). Staff relaxed but attentive. And the Raki is an essential part of the meal.
Ealing Mangal – West LondonAbsolutely the worst experience I have ever had. A large group of us had a reservation later in the night at this "cocktail bar" according to their signs and menus, most of us wanted to eat but some people had come from other places and weren't too hungry right away. They brought drinks out right away (pitchers completely filled with ice) but didn't have enough glasses so we literally waited over 40 minutes for everyone to get glasses. One person ordered water from three different people and after over an hour, never got it. They never even got around to everyone to ask them what they wanted. Instead, they flipped out at the first people who said they weren't ordering a main, actually yelling at people. I've never seen such rude staff, and the manager was even worse. We were planning to be there for 2-3 hours, drinking who knows how much, and eating who knows how many mains, starters, etc. Instead, they asked us to leave because not every person was immediately ordering starters and mains. AVOID this place.
