A family run restaurant with staff who are welcoming and attentive. The menu is varied and the prices reasonable. This is proper Italian food which is reflected in most tables being full on a Wednesday evening. You do have to leave a deposit of £5 a head which is returned to your card a day or so after you have eaten. The restaurant itself is also away from the rowdy part of Maidstone which is a bonus.

Eaten here a few times and it never, ever disappoints. The food is incredible, the staff delightful and, as someone who grew up in an Italian family, it always makes me feel relaxed and at home. There are knick-knacks everywhere, nothing is rushed and you'll always know the most recent Napoli score! Would recommend Vesuvius to anyone who loves superb Italian food. We love it here! The staff are exceptionally welcoming and cater for your every need. The food is hot fresh and delicious and very authentic and good value for the quality. Great wines and drinks too.

Our first visit - lunch for our family of six. The experience could not have been better: great service and wonderful food. We'll be back!

Without question, the best Italian restaurant for miles around. We have been eating there ever since it opened 10 years ago. The quality has always been superb, including our latest meal on Friday 25th March 2022. Not only is the food wonderful, Alessandro and his staff always make us feel welcome. We will be visiting again very soon.

Wednesday, 23 March was my second lunch experience (with friends) at the Vesuvius. The best meals I've ever had in Maidstone would be one way to describe the experiences. Alessandro and his team are truly excellent in every respect and I am truly looking forward to an evening meal there. Jim Myers

Visited Vesuvius Restaurant on a Friday evening for a night out. Had a fantastic dinner. The staff were very welcoming and attentive and the food was great - had a super evening and the prices were very reasonable. Will definitely be back. Thanks to all the staff for the evening, had a lovely time!

Easy to book online, view the menus and specials in advance. A warm welcome, choice of tables. Simple, clean tableware. Relaxed atmosphere, good food and choice of drinks. 1 mark off service as we had to ask for our bill twice ;-)

This is a lovely independent Italian restaurant. The service is attentive and friendly and the food is of a consistently high quality and there are always some specials to tempt you. There is also a good wine list.

Me and my husband visited on Wednesday evening for the first time, we were not disappointed, the service was great and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. Me and my husband both agreed the food was amazing!! Been looking for a good Italian restaurant for a long time before finding this hidden gem and we can't wait to go back. Do not leave without having the tirramasu, it is out of this world!!!

A real high quality venue in Kent!

Been to this restaurant several times it is a great family run place good food and atmosphere, looking forward to celebrating my birthday and wedding anniversary this Saturday.

We have eaten here a number of times and consider the food and service to be excellent.The Sunday "Buffet" as it is described is like no other and the food is cooked to order off the menu, as much as you like. Top notch and would highly recommend.

We visited on August bank holiday Monday to find the Pippin rather empty, probably due to the poor weather. My son wanted to order a sandwich/drink and side from the Monday-Friday sandwich deal. He asked for a ham and cheese ciabatta which was declined as they had no ham ! He then reconsidered and asked if he could have an alternative filling, but still on ciabatta. This was apparently not possible. Why I ask, on a quiet afternoon, could the Pippin not comply with his request? No wonder, we have seen a steady decline in the amount of friends taking their customer elsewhere. With an alternative venue having recently opened in close proximity, whose car park is always full, come on The Pippin on get your act together !

In 2003 my husband and i stayed at the Stone house and the hosts son in law drove us to the Plough for a really lovely meal. We were joined by a very pleasant Japanese couple who wre also staying at hosts B and B. When we left after 2 nights the host wore a jersey one of his family members had bought from New Zealand for him. It was a thrill for us after 13 years plus we still remember the kindness of the hosts where we stayed and the lovely evening at the Plough. We have good photos so greetings from N Z !
