Food and service both good
Scene – MalvernI attended the Theatre with friends to watch 12 Angry Men. The pre show food was absolutely delicious and the service top notch. The menu choice for both food and drink was excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and would highly recommend it.
Scene – MalvernWe had lunch before visiting the cinema and allowed an hour and a half. We had two vegan burgers and one vegitarian burger all if which were excellent and very tasty. The service was friendly and knowledgeable and the food was served after about 25 minutes and was fresh and hot. Would definitely recommend and will be coming for lunch again soon.
Scene – MalvernPleasantly surprised . Normally before going to the Theatre we eat in one of the restaurants nearby but decided to try the Scene restaurant for its convenient location in the Theatre. Atmosphere a bit minimal but service excellent . Limited menu choice but the dishes we had were well prepared , looked attractive on the plate and were enjoyable to eat. We had 3 courses no complaints about any of them, my wife who had been hesitant about coming was won over and is happy to come again. Menu is shortly changing lets hope quality is maintained. Review as at 29/2
Scene – MalvernExcellent quality Not too many choices Good service Nice atmosphere.
Scene – MalvernWe came for a matinee performance with a small family group and as ever, the food and atmosphere was great. Food was served in a timely fashion and the bill was presented with plenty of time for us to settle up and get to our seats without rushing.
Scene – MalvernTop class sea bass served promptly and by friendly helpful staff. Lovely sticky toffee pudding. Great to be away from the rush of the pre-theatre hour enjoying good food and service. Much enjoyed.
Scene – MalvernWe booked early for the Scene restaurant allowing plenty of time for a leisurely meal and explained to the staff that we wished to take our time and sit and chat before and after eating. They were brilliant! The service was courteous friendly and attentive but we never felt rushed and were able to enjoy the meal at a leisurely pace. This was just as well because the food was amazing and needed to be savoured. I had a walnut, blue cheese and beetroot tart, followed by a venison bouillabaisse. A real departure from the usual fare offered in similar venues. I can honestly say that I enjoyed every mouthful!
Scene – MalvernMy husband & I booked a table for a meal before a performance of The Circle. The food was delicious, we both had sea bass and desserts of sticky toffee pudding & Belgian chocolate cheesecake. The food was served promptly but we didn't feel rushed and the waiting staff were very helpful, friendly & efficient. The atmosphere in the restaurant was nice with unobtrusive background music. We will definitely do this again when we attend the theatre in the future.
Scene – MalvernOverall we enjoyed our meal and experience; we like the revamping and decor. The menu was interesting; service by the young waitress was interested and speedy. Table water provided without prompting. We had the walnut tart starter which was excellent with super-crispy pastry. Main courses - my husband had the pie served with ‘buttery mash’ which he pronounced excellent. I chose the mezzalune stuffed with roasted veggies. In principle the dish was good but the spicy sauce was too spicy and overwhelmed the pasta. And it was a large portion! We didn’t orders desserts but they looked very good. Only glitch; we arrived at 5.24 ahead of our booking at 5.45. We moved past the barrier and the duty manager greeted us with - You’re early; we are not open yet! Not what we expected given that my husband has obvious mobility issues and needed to sit down. So I went to the main bar to buy drinks, charming staff there! So - overall food good, but maybe a little more awareness of customers!
Scene – MalvernIt's very nice to eat at the theatre before a show, makes the evening even better, more like a special occasion. No rushing after eating at home. The food is lovely. The menu has just a few choices, but that makes sense as its a pre-theatre even so you need things not to take too long.
Scene – MalvernStaff were friendly and helpful. The limited menu tends to cater well for most tastes, with half the choices being meat free. Service was not rushed, allowing time between courses, but was certainly not slow either. We will probably do this again.
Scene – MalvernDelicious vegetarian served by friendly and efficient staff. Thank you
Scene – MalvernEnjoyed our meal of celeriac steak in comfortable and relaxing surroundings. A little more mash would have made it perfect. Friendly and timely service.
Scene – MalvernWe had a delicious supper on Saturday The choices were appealing and the food was well cooked and very tasty. We also appreciated the friendly and efficient service.
Scene – MalvernMy husband and I found our meal at Scene on 3.2.24 very disappointing in indeed. The starters took almost an hour to be served. There was no fish on the menu. My husband is a vegetarian. I ordered arancini, which I understand is balls of risotto, which are mixed with herb and spices. Served with a spicy sauce. There was no rice in my dish. This also took almost an hour to arrive. My main course was venison plus ? What seemed to be a plate full of tasteless beans. The meat seemed to have been ground to a paste and turned out of a mould. Tasteless, had it come from a deer? My husband who left his pasta said it was tasteless. We didn’t have a sweet. When I redeemed my voucher with the lady in charge she informed me that the gentleman who normally works in the evenings was on leave. I brought my concerns to her attention and the slowness of the service and the fact that we were not that happy with our evening. She explained that the kitchen was a chef short. Another thing a young waitress tried to take our order but was unsure of the type of soup on offer that night. Surely any waitress MUST be aware of the soup because it alters what main course a customer may choose. Surely basic trading for waiting staff. I am angry about last night meal. Why wasn’t a replacement chef engaged? We travel from Birmingham to attend concerts and plays at Malvern Theatre(5 in this season alone) and we have always enjoyed a meal beforehand. Ponder what happens when KEN has a Saturday off.
Scene – MalvernA lovely meal for three before “Blood Brothers”. One vegetarian who normally finds the option is not suitable, really loved her celeriac steak this time. My cassoulet with venison was slightly disappointing, but the chicken and ham pie was very well received by my other guest. It was obviously a busy night, and we had to rush desserts, but I have no complaints about the service.
Scene – MalvernLimited menu. Took my daughters in law pre Blood Bros. Lovely waitress. I had venison and blackcurrant jus. No veg just some mixed beans, rather hard, couple of bits over very over salted kale which wasn’t pleasant. The pasta and pie looked very good. Unfortunately we all chose a Boosy Bannoffi . What’s a disappointment. £8 each. It was very pretty but lacked any substance. Tiny bit of some biscuit with a few bits of banana and a slop of condensed milk topped with some sloppy squirty cream and a bit of lime zest and tiny grating of chocolate. Total waste of money (£24) and left feeling robbed. V disappointed by the reaction of waiter who obviously didn’t take to constructive criticism. Blood bros was amazing. Will use another place next time.
