The restaurant was very busy upon arrival at 5.40pm. It took half an hour to have our order taken and just over another half an hour to get our food. We had to chase up our food as we were going to the theatre and we didn't want to be late. A lovely young waitress sorted out our dilemma but we had to rush our food down. Lovely place, food and staff but allow plenty of time if you are going to the theatre.

Oh my GOD! Everything about Chakalaka is amaaaazing! The food, the atmosphere, how friendly the staff are… everything is A+ I had the maize bites for starter, the lamb curry for main and the peppermint tart for dessert and I’ve been thinking about it all day since. Everything was made to perfection and tasted SO good. It’s definitely in my Top 5 means I’ve ever eaten. The staff are lovely and make you feel really welcome and the atmosphere is an absolute vibe! Great prices and a cute location, will definitely be coming back for more!

Food was incredible, amazing January offer on of 50% off mains and 2 for 1 on pints of the House Lager. Very lovely staff. Would recommend to anyone wanting to try something new and in a cosy place!

Furst time visiting Chakalakas . We took advantage of the 50% off mains deal and cocktail deals. Food was great , well presented. Cocktails delicious and great price 2 for £10. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The decor was very nice also Would definitely revisit again.

Good food, always enjoy the lamb bunny chow when I come here. Staff friendly and attentive, even as a solo diner in a fairly busy restaurant and enjoyed the experience. Thanks very much

Visited for the 2nd time before going to the theatre, amazing food, great value, lovely staff, felt very well looked after. If I had one criticism the restaurant is very cramped, not much space, you feel like you are sat on top of each other. Would highly recommend a visit ********

Had a meal from the pre theatre menu which had a good choice of food. My chicken dish was flavoursome and my partners pizza was large and tasty. The staff were very attentive and the service was friendly and efficient even though they were very busy. I’d definitely recommend.

We had the pre theatre menu which had good choices and food was very good and well presented. We thought the wine was very exoensive even for a small glass. The venue is not suitable for people with mobility problems as there are quite a few stairs and a further set to use the cloakroom.

Food, house lager & service was amazing me and partner had a great time.

Fabulous meal. Delicious food and very friendly staff who made us feel very welcome. Lovely treat before the theatre and the kids loved it too!
