We go to eat there quite often on a Saturday afternoon and find its very nice .

Very good food and atmosphere. Far better than the false food and feel of La Tasca. and the waitresses were very nice to. What? They were!

El Rincon de Rafa – Manchester City Centre

On entering The English Lounge, you'd be forgiven for thinking you had mistakenly walked into a typical English Pub. The crowd that greeted us seemed to be more interested in relaxing with a drink at the ground floor bar than the traditional English Food we'd come in search of. However, we were led upstairs to the dining area, which is dominated at one end by shelves of Old Books, and decorated elsewhere with Miro and Picasso prints. The buzzy and informal atmosphere makes this restaurant a popular choice for groups as well as couples. I did like the Bar, which was beautifully organized, and well stocked! The food is as British as you'll get, with no concessions to modernity or multiculturality. Expect to see classics such as traditional soups, and roasted meat joints, with all the trimmings. I chose Steak in a lovely peppercorn sauce, whilst my brother opted for one of the menu's more popular choices (as lead to believe by the lovely waiter!) Chicken and Pasta. The waiter taking our order said "The better choice, sir", making my brother beam, and me glower. I dread to think what he would have said if I'd asked for a vegetarian meal. Much as I hate to admit it, the waiter was right. While the Steak was beautifully presented, it was slightly swamped by the excessively rich sauce and completely over-powered by the strong peppercorn topping, the thin slices of chicken in the Pasta and Chicken, where flavoursome and melt-in-the-mouth. Accessorised with crispy fresh salad, it was textbook perfect. With water and wine (from £12/bottle for house white and red to just under £12.50, expect to pay around £15-18 per person for three courses, drinks and service. I believe was a bargain, particularly as I'm not one for the "Authentic Best of British" experience.

I liked the food at Grinch although would not say it's the best I've ever had - I found the music too loud and when we asked to move from next to the stage received constant jibes from the musician playing. Not a great experience but would go to this restaurant again but not at weekend.

I would highly recommend Sweet Mandarin. It was the best Chinese I have had in a long time and my favourite was the Lilly Kwok's Chicken Curry. I thought it was great that Lilly turns out to be the Three Sisters' grandmother. My husband had the sizzling scallops - plenty, fat, delicious and a real treat. I had several of the Lotus cocktail - lychee vodka which was amazing. See you next time. Liz and Jeff

This deli restaurant was certainly a genuine Mediterranean touch the centre of Manchester was missing. The quality and the authenticity of the products is extraordinary! If you haven't yet been there...don't waste any more time!

Better food than El Rincon -just. Ambience a bit too modern not as good an atmosphere as El Rincon. Better suited to small groups. Tapas menu restricted but very good quality. Wine on pricey side.

This is probably the best restaurant I've been too. The front of house staff were so friendly and not at all fake. The food was amazing and the setting along with a live jazz band was top notch. I couldn't recommend it more!

The freshest sushimi ever, traditional but comfortable, seated at shared tables with napkins placed around your neck by the traditionally dressed waitress, samurai type chef, must have been lucky that night, fresh food cooked in front of you an a flat griddle, excellent, would go every week if could afford.

Teppanyaki Chinatown – Manchester City Centre

Decor little gloomy, food very authentic, beef buglee is a must, well worth the visit, make sure you eat the lettuce and meat the correct way-in little wraps, don? try to eat it like a kebab, I foolishly made this mistake.

This is the second time I have dined at this restaurant and it was as excellent an experience as the first time. By far the best Indian food I have ever tried and that includes the best that the 'curry mile' has to offer. The size of the dishes were perfectly proportioned. The selection of wines on offer is just the right level and very reasonably priced. The service was great even to the extent that the chef brought out the sizzling mixed starter. Highly recommended and I will be returning regularly.

What a pleasure to have a decent ''modern British'' place around the corner so to speak. The Northern Quarter is one of those little Metroland gems off the main shopping area and close to the Tram Network. The English Lounge has been refurbished inside with lovely decor as instructed by the staff, fresh flowers and a log fire. The owner oversees the unhurried service and kitchens. The waiters are young but not the usual gormless spotty oiks you often encounter. They offer all sorts of a la carte, bistro, lunch, dinner and prix fixe menus. We went for a Sunday lunch and it was welcoming, with a pleasant family atmosphere. Nice bread selections and for starters we both opted for the Roast Parsnip Soup. Mains for both of us were traditional Roast Beef Sirloin cooked pinkish but nice and crusty outside, proper crunchy roast spuds and a nice selection of al dente veg. We had a nice lightest red wine (can't remember which) espressos and petit fours. Treat yourself to a Sunday in the English Lounge, A further advantage was that we walked home, and collapsed for the rest of the day. Approved fully.

Hip Hip Horrai - a authentic Mexican Restaurant at last in the area. My husband and I enjoyed our dinner so much that I had to write a recommendation. Go no further than here for a truly scrummy meal with fresh ingredients and a refreshingly modest price.

Barburrito – Manchester City Centre

I must say that this restaurant is a little jem hidden away. We could not find it at first but it was worth the walk. We had an amazing time at the food and wine event to celebrate Chinese New Year. The quality of the food was exquisite - the best Chinese we have had in a long time. I thought the wines were well matched to the food and would definitely be returning to dine again. Thanks girls. A nice cosy and intimate atmosphere with good staff. Excellent selection of wine as expected from a Wine Importer. I would suggest that this is not really a Tapas bar as the ambiance just isn? right, what is on the menu is effectively a range of starters at a reasonable price - and very nice they are too, having had the Garlic Prawns with Chilli and the Chorizo in red wine. Next came the main courses with the fresh Tuna in wine sauce which was cooked just perfectly but I think I was unfortunate to have a slightly dry Sea food Paella. Overall: Nice ambiance; the food is well presented and cooked to a high standard; the range and taste of the wines are excellent; friendly and helpful staff; Worth a visit.

The food was ok but it was a bit cheesy. There was a flood in the ladies toilets and could cause someone to slip. Service was very good and the food was very tasty. Its an excellent place for children and they love the ice cram factory!

Pizza Hut – Manchester City Centre

An interesting decor and ambiance though I thought the tables a little close together. Varied selection of starters but I and my guests thought rather plain to the taste. Main course was likewise average with nothing standing out. A little on the 'dry' side was the final impression.
