I've become something of a regular at Try Thai - because the early evening menu is ridiculously good value at £4.50 (Starter, Main and a Coffee or Ice Cream) and the food is good tasty, hearty stuff. The soup is very good hot and sour with a generous amount of mushrooms and chicken. The red curry have a very flavoured and rich edge; the green has a real spicy kick to it and it can get quite hot; the yellow is sweeter, very mellow and contains root vegetables for the softer palettes. The best main I have had is the Mixed Seafood in Red Curry; it contained a very generous mix of scallops, mussels, fish in a foil parcel. Delicious with the coconut rice! There aren't many deserts on the menu yet, just ice cream but if they added Mango and Sticky Rice, then this place really would be the best Thai in town!

Everytime I visit Manchester, I make it a point to have at least one meal at Buffet City. I have been to several of the other local buffets and the quality of the food here is second to none. While not the "prettiest" of places it has a very functional dining room and wonderful food and a good staff.

Buffet City about seven pm on a Thursday night and there was a queue out the door on to Portland Street. It's a big place though and we only waited a couple of minutes. Once sat down we ate at our leisure and didn't feel rushed despite the crowds around us. There is a two for one deal on the Chinese beer (£2.20 a bottle) and the food was superb! Very attentive polite service; they cleared our plates when empty and we just got new ones to fill up. We had soup, starters and about three helpings of the buffet. There is a massive choice of curries, noodles, rices, meats, cold fish, sushi, crispy duck and pancakes, chips and all the usual Chinese extras. Plus puddings and ice creams! All food looks really fresh and is constantly being renewed. At £5.50 before 6pm and £8.50 after this has to be the best value eating experience in Manchester. Go!

Very good standard of food. Decor dated (70's?), not the place to go for a romantic meal, more of a cheap/family place. Good service. Good food.

I was recommended the Gaucho Grill by a friend, and I wasn't disappointed - I will also be recommending it. We went on a saturday night, we were the second sitting on the table but by no means a second rate service. The atmosphere was good, a dj with background beats filled this massive building and made you feel like you could almost be somewhere else! The food was delicious, we thankfully skipped the starters and went straight for two steaks and a couple of side dishes - and we struggled to finish. My husband was very impressed. Our waiter was attentive, polite and not over the top. We squeezed in a pudding - one to share! The bill was reasonable considering we'd also had drinks at the bar, and a bottle of the House Cabernet Sauvignon. It was definitely a meal to remember.

I have now been twice in 2 weeks as the first time was so good I needed to return ASAP. We were taken by friends the first time and the first thing that hit me after walking into the restaurant was what a fantastic host the owner, Wing is. He asked everyone's first names and bearing in mind this was a Saturday evening and full to capacity remembered all our names correctly throughout the night. The attention to detail of the restaurant is fabulous and the staff dressed in authentic Chinese attire and wearing white gloves to serve you is something special. I thought I had eaten in some of this country's better Chinese restaurants but I have to say this place stands above them all. We were seated in a very nice booth where the ladies had poufs next to them on which to place their handbags. Hot towels to cleanse were brought out immediately. The menu choice is fantastic, the food even better. If you are a lover of Chinese food I defy anyone to find fault with this place and if you haven't yet eaten here you must go as soon as possible. We eat out 4 to 5 nights per week. This is probably the best restaurant ever.

Together with Sam's Chophouse one of the finest english cuisine you can get in town. The menu consists of amazingly nice 'Fish and Chips' or the famous 'Steak and Kidney Pudding'. Although you have to pay more than average it is well worth a visit even at lunch time.

After reading all the rave reviews about this place I was a little disappointed, the food was good, not as good as I was led to believe, seemed very under staffed, polite and courteous when you could manage to get someone? attention, not the staffs fault, management should sort out this problem, maybe I went on a night that was to busy, recommend going in mid week not sat if you like good service as you may get better service if there is less customers.

We went to San Carlo one Friday evening in September. The atmosphere is really lively as soon as you walk through the door. There was a great range of dishes to choose from, and none of us were disappointed with our choices, everything was perfectly cooked. The service is excellent, there was no waiting for dishes to be cleared or too long a gap between courses. The price is not the cheapest of Italian restaurants, but we came away feeling we had really good value for money. Definitely one to return to.

I love this restaurant, so many choices for mains on the menu, pizza, pasta and secondi are all wonderful. Great wine and puddings are delicious...try the chocolate fudge cake...it's massive! Gets very busy at weekends, but have always had good service, try it!

First time visit after reading the earlier reports on here and we were quite impressed. Parked directly outside and found it a stunning building with some excellent interior architecture. After a couple of drinks at the bar we were shown to our table which was in a sort of booth. We had a seafood platter to start which was excellently presented with lobster, king prawns, scallops etc. The quality was excellent but slightly expensive at £48. Again we had fish for main course which was delicious. The place and quality of food is excellent and well worth a visit but at over £100 for 2 of us was slightly on the expensive side as a substitute for the wife cooking but its a beautiful place for any special occasion and we will definitely return.

Good set menu deal. Ala Carte more expensive but still reasonable. I hope this place gets busier as it deserves to be a success. Fresh food, well prepared..

Wine was fantastic; food was a let down, felt under seasoned and watered down for an English palette. Would love to see it as more of a traditional tapas place - where you can get just a drink or food - they would still make the money as the wine is great. Wine waiter was knowledgeable, friendly and cute.

I had my birthday here and had a wonderful evening. My party of about 11 people were all served very quickly and efficiently. The food was lovely and so cheap for the quality. The atmosphere is just right for a celebratory occasion. Thanks for making the evening so special.

An excellent restaurant which is notably emptier than the bar at lunchtime. The food is first class but don't expect to be out of here in less than 90 mins. Slow food is great but this is very slow indeed! However the wine list is excellent, friendly service and superb food which may be a few pounds more than your standard Manchester Conran inspired bar but well worth the extra.
