Cafe Istanbul – Manchester City CentreAte here recently on a friday night, early doors without a booking, but they were fully booked for later on. Cauliflower soup to start, very nice indeed, not overseasoned like I've had elsewhere. Main of line caught sea bass fillet, pan fried. Very nicely cooked , caramalised skin, not overdone. Full of flavour (not always the case with bass.) Service was attentive and informative, although we did have one of the managers as our waiter, so would expect that level of knowledge! Plenty of staff polishing glasses and plates so it all bodes well for the future. I'll definitely be going back.
Bluu – Northern Quartervery good restaurant. dined here a few times. banquet offers great choice and good to share. still haven't got round to ordering a la carte as banquet is too good!! food id very tasty and filling. good presentation of food and nice chopsticks and plates! we always leave with a smile on our faces.
Koreana – Manchester City Centrenot bad but far from good.food not as good and service not as efficient as their partner restaurant.still very convenient for pre-concert
Gio Ristorante – Manchester City CentreVisted this restaurant following recently having returned from travelling Thailand. The green curry with pork was as good as that in Chiang Mai whilst the seafood kebabs and prawns in garlic were excellent. This was one of the best meals I have had and will definitely be returning.
Koh Samui Thai Restaurant – Manchester City CentreStaff are ace, food is yummy, wine list is impressive and the cocktails are tooo diiee for! GO!
Bluu – Northern QuarterMy friends and I fancied a change from the normal greasy spoon fry up on a sunday morning. So we opted for a dim sum brunch. Excellent food in a unique venue for this side of China. Can be a little pricey for the uninitiated though. Basically the waiting staff push trolleys around the restaurant with the dim sum delicacies on board offering you the chance to grab some. So we did and got a bit of a shock when our normal greasy spoon £4 a head was blown out the water with £15 a head. Well worth it for the experience though.
Glamorous – Northern QuarterBooked a table on a Saturday night. Arrived early and the helpful staff juggled things around to seat us. Great service throughout, really helpful and friendly people. Food is presented very well and the whole gastropub experience is very relaxed and enjoyable. To find excellent food and service in a "pub" environment is a real treat - we'll be returning soon.
The Oxnoble – Manchester City CentreVery good standard of cooking here, sea bass in salt crust was excellent, the onion and potato tortilla was reordered three times, that moreish! You'll take a hit on the plastic, but then quality costs. El Rincon watch out. Definateley one of the top five restaurants in town for consistency, and I've eaten regularly at most of them. Give it a go.
Evuna Deansgate – Manchester City CentreFabulous food and drinks. The price was the best in the city center. The staff were well mannered and pleasant (shame about the uniforms), especially that lovely camp young male manager with the dark curtained hair. I'd go back there again just to be served by him. Julian x
Sinclairs Oyster Bar – Manchester City CentreNot really traditional, the food was something you would expect down any old pub.
Sinclairs Oyster Bar – Manchester City CentreIm a frequent visitor to the Living Room. Good atmosphere, especially at wkend. Only downfall people seem to be a little bit pretentious because its a celebrity hangout but hey its the place to be seen, what else should i expect......
The Living Room – Manchester City CentreI have been going to China City for a few years now. I go 2 - 3 times per month. The food has always been excellent, and the chef is very accommodating to your requirements if you don't like something, or even if you just want something added into your dish. The staff have been constant, with the odd change over the years, so they get to know your face after a couple of visits. Everybody is always made to feel very welcome and seated promptly unless they are busy (always on a weekend) when you will be asked to take a drink at the bar until a table is free, which is not normally too long, unless it can't be helped!! The food is the best Cantonese and Hong Kong style that I have personally ever tried. I recommend the Spring onion pancakes, the sesame coated lemon chicken with lemon sauce, the deep fried pork in O.K sauce, and the lamb and spring onions, but then I can only recommend everything depending on your own tastes. I personally think this is the best food and menu I have ever eaten/seen in a Chinese capacity. You must try it at least once, and I guarantee you'll be hooked!!
China City – Manchester City CentreI took my girlfriend to the gaucho grill for her birthday after reading some of the reviews on this web page, we had a great night. Everything about the place was quality, especially the steaks, the best food i have ever had!! The deserts need a bit of attention, but that didnt take anything away from the evening! the wine is a little pricey but again with the recommendation from the waiter, that was superb!! For a special occassion, the gaucho grill would be my choice!
Gaucho – Manchester City CentreI went there for dinner a few weeks ago after a number of people told me it is supposed to be the best chinese restaurant in the UK. I was a bit disappointed by the menu which seemed to be dominated by the European favourites but the quality of ingredients was excellent. The starters were fantastic and one has to look very hard to find any better. All the main courses I tried were good but I prefer the food at a couple of places in London. Probably not the best in UK, however, definitely worth the visit and overall reasonably priced.
Yang Sing – Manchester City CentreI took my girlfriend here for her birthday last week and its the best restaurant i have been to in Manchester, especially if you are a steak lover.
Gaucho – Manchester City Centrewe visited Koreana out of curiosity and were delighted with what we found. the waitress asked if we were first-timers and made some recommendations from the extensive menu. we had the banquet This is made up of a main course witha selection of weird and wonderful sides. The food was unusual and delicious and we will definately be returning.
Koreana – Manchester City CentreIts the new clic on the bloc and well worth a punt, great food great atmosphere and reasonably priced.
