Velvet

EXCELLANT AND REASONABLE

Velvet – Manchester City Centre
Little Yang Sing, The

I visited this Restaurant for the first time two weeks ago and was very impressed. The food was fantastic, the staff friendly and eager to please, with a really good atmosphere. We had booked a table for 7.00 pm and by even then it was very busy. By 8.00 pm it was almost full. Prices are a bit steep but worth every penny and we will definitely go back when we return to Manchester later in the year. I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant to anyone - its first class. Book early though to avoid disappointment.

Sams Chop House

Been several times, and it's definitely got better lately. No doubt because Rob Brown is overseeing the cooking(exec chef at Lounge Ten when it was fanatastic, untill he left). Good wine list with plenty available by the glass (other restaurants take note). Basically the best place in town for traditional British grub and a good drink.

Gaucho Grill

Steak eaters heaven. If they still do it try the carpaccio of Tuna starter with balsamic and lemon juice, very good. Wine list good. Staff are friendly, all in all recomended. Do agree that it is a bit souless midweek though due to it's size, go when it's busy.

El Rincon

THE best tapas in Mcr. In fact better than most I've sampled in Barcelona! Never had a bad food experience here, although the service/decor is rather casual and you have to fight the odd fruit fly off your Rioja. Good buzz about the place, always busy, which says alot about it's broad appeal. The owner is always around mingling as well, which makes a difference to any place I think. Check it out, you will enjoy!

Piccolino

Judging by how busy this place has become in such a short space of time, it's a winner! Food is good and solid if not outstanding, have tried all the risottos on the menu, wild mushroom my fave. Good to sit at the bar and people watch as well, although it has become very cheshire set (Stepford wives anyone?). You can have a laugh with the staff, watch out for the MD, very acid sense of humour. When telling him we were in a hurry he immediately shouted out "bread and water for these gentleman". Good place.

Stock Restaurant

Food was outstanding, except that due to the slow, poor service our main course were cold by the time the vegetables arrived. I complained about this, but did not feel that my complaint was taken seriously or indeed understood. More attention to sevice definitely needed.

Koreana

I had never tried Korean food before this restaurant but I thoroughly enjoyed my first experience. The food was quite spicy but didn't detract from the other flavours. All the food we ordered was of very high quality and freshly prepared. The restaurant is small so I would recommend booking at busier times. Overall an excellent meal and I will definitely be returning in the future.

Very Very good food, very very good drinks though not cheap, they serve negroni's (Italian aperatife) Very stylish interior outstanding efficient professional and very friendly service excellent atmosphere, a great mix of contemporary and traditional Italian cuisine and bar culture transplanted in to Manchester.

Making eating Chinese food a special occasion. The Yang Sing is one of the finest in Manchester.

Stock Restaurant

Within Manchester's old Stock Exchange you'll find one of the best Italian restaurants in town. My friend and I were quickly shown to our seat in one of the many booths which lined the sides of the large market floor. The menu has a range of appetizers, pasta dishes (as starters or main courses for £2 more) and main dishes. With pasta dishes ranging from £5 upwards, we both took a different dish to start off the meal. Both of which were delightful but incredibly filling for starters. I had ordered the fillet in a hollandaise sauce (I think) which arrived cooked perfectly and very tender. Although after my starter I barely managed to finish the fillet and hardly touched my accompanying vegetables. I think Stock instantly became one of my favourite restaurants in Manchester.

Sand Bar

Waht this place makes up for in good beers it lacks in atmosphere, the place is full od pretensious, student types who think they are better everyone else. A definite need for some atmosphere here!! But the Beers is great

Yang Sing

the food is outstanding, but like everything in life you have to be willing to pay for what you want, it sure aint cheap but it sure is worth it

Bar Fringe

This is with out doubt one of the best bars in Manchester, the beer may not be cheap but its the best europe has to offer. And the place is so chilled and relaxed, the old place has a great sense of humour too
