Excellent meals in a wonderfully cosy and atmospheric setting. A busy day in the run up to Christmas but only appropriate wait times which are always welcome to digest and enjoy! All cooked freshly and using good quality produce, veg etc

Best pub in Derbyshire. All home cooked tasty meals in a superb setting. It was like stepping back 200 years. Decor was epic! The warm cosy fires and the friendly staff made it the perfect day out. Highly recommend.

Superb Sunday dinner, 3 beef, 1 chicken and 1 gammon. All served with Greens, spuds and roasties. Extras were pigs in blankets and cauliflower cheese, lots of rich gravy. The staff were very welcoming and the fire gave the pub a cosy atmosphere.

What can we say …. Possibly the best pub meal ever. Credit where it is due, just could not fault , taste, portion size, the lot! And the staff .. even better. Thanks so much x

Great food for 4 people and we all had different! -Beef Bourgogne was tasty and beef tender, fish batter was crispy, pie was beef and crusty, sausage and mash-sausages really tasty. Chips chunky and well fried. Enjoyable night thanks to all

Fantastic cosy pub in beautiful, charming village. A lovely place to visit. Food and drink great and lovely, friendly cosy atmosphere.

We had a lovely meal at The Old Gate Inn. There were 7 of us, one with a peanut allergy, one with an allergy to shellfish and one vegan, and nothing was too much. Incredibly friendly staff. Have been several times before and would absolutely return.

I visited here a few months back and the Sunday Roast was AMAZING. This time much less so, sadly. The beef was of a much lower quality (too gristly) and volume (much less of it). Last time I visited I’d have given you 5 out of 5 all round but this time I can’t as quite simply it was disappointing. I’ll visit you again in a few months and hopefully you’ll repeat my first experience not second one. If you don’t, I will look elsewhere.

What a lovely pub! Great atmosphere and wonderful food. We all had a Sunday lunch & it was delicious. Also very good value. Highly recommended

First time we have dined here. Food mediocre. Service excellent. Value for money ….expensive for what was served. Will not be visiting again.

2nd time I have written a review for our visit, my first not published. I repeat, food very mediocre, chicken and leek pie, tasteless, soggy pastry produced in a microwave, a handful of chips and a green mush that was mixed vegetables ??? It seems that my views may have been shared by the dinners on the adjacent table who had food sent back to the kitchen. Staff excellent, very welcoming, the surroundings quaint, atmospheric, a super experience. Back to the food, expensive for what was served, the standard needs to be much higher. Ps Coffee was superb 10/10.
