We have been here several times and have enjoyed the food and cosy atmosphere. We went on Saturday evening and enjoyed our time, friendly staff, nice food, fire going etc, the only issue was we asked for some extra custard which was a tiny pot (about 2 spoonfuls) which would have been ok if they hadn’t charged £2.50 for it!! Really disappointing and spoilt it.

The Old Gate Inn – MatlockHave enjoyed several superb Sunday lunches here, but this time my friend and I tried the evening menu. We were not disappointed. I had the rich succulent beef bourginan with lovely mash and very nicely cooked seasonal veg - not mushy just the right side of al dente. My friends chicken, ham and leek pie was a proper full pie - no silly puff pastry lid - with lovely shortcrust pastry and a tender, delicious filling. Oh, and we enjoyed a lovely starter of pate and toast. A super meal from start to finish with good service.

Attentive service, beautiful meal quickly served, a good choice on the menu.We really enjoyed our visit, and will certainly visit again soon. We arrived at 12.30, having booked our table , it was quite quiet, but did get busy about 1.15, do advise booking if you are eating and want a nice table near the fire too! Fabulous place!!!!

The Old Gate Inn – MatlockWe had a lovely meal on Wednesday 31st December, I had gammon which was huge, my friend had the fish and the other the lamb pie we all enjoyed it the staff are very friendly and considering they were a chef short in the kitchen the meals weren't delayed and the service was prompt. We also had dessert which was lovely.
